ANOTHER WORLD DAILY SYNOPSIS.

January 28, 1985

Emily's condition has not stabilized. Alice is perplexed. The guard had found Emily beside a bit of glass after her break. She told Alice Donna's visit had upset Emily.

Peter wants to see Emily.

Sandy's suspicious. He's confiding his suspicions in Mac. Mac is frustrated by the Swiss gendarmerie. Donna thanked Sandy for coming to the hospital.

Wallingford encouraged Kathleen to talk about it. Dee tried to put in her 2¢ worth and Kathleen suggested it was past her bedtime. Kathleen said from now on it's strictly business with Mr. Winthrop. Wallingford's still clutching a shred of hope that the relationship will get somewhere. Kathleen was on her way out to get clothes to spend the night at Cecile's and who should show up on the doorstep but Cass. "My mother always said never go to bed angry" he sa. (Where have I heard this before? Has anyone else noticed that Cass and Kathleen's ROMANCE seems to be an awful lot more crowded i.e. populous than Catlin and Sally's?) He wants to talk. Kathleen doesn't but he claims his mother was immer right. Wallingford deserted her. Cass: Kathleen. This whole thing has been blown way out of proportion. Kathleen: Oh, is that what happened? Cass: That's exactly what happened. Look, I'm a MAN. FLESH AND BLOOD. You're a woman. We went out, we had dinner -- I was getting certain signals, or so I thought. I mean I thought the chemistry was right, that the time was right -- Kathleen: That is not the point, Cass. The point is that you reserved that little bedroom at the same time you reserved the table for two. Cass: They offer a package deal. Kathleen: Oh, I see, a package -- did they offer this same package deal when you took me to the Northwoods Inn the first time? Cass: Oh, no, no, no. On the first date, Kathleen? What do you take me for? Kathleen: I take you for exactly what you are. Cass: Okay, all right, go ahead and say it. I'm a sexist, I'm a pig, I deserve it. Kathleen: You're a sexist. And a pig. And you deserve it. And I'd say a lot more than that but I don't think it's going to change anything. Cass: Kathleen -- Kathleen: YES. I am Kathleen. With Kathleen's feelings. I am not an object. You do not buy me like a bottle of WINE to go with your dinner. Cass: Kathleen, I never had any intention of doing that. Kathleen: Exactly what were your intentions, Cass? I mean -- a restaurant? You wanted our first night together to be in a RESTAURANT? Don't even bother explaining anything, all right? I just don't need it any more, right? I am now going to go home, I am going to get my clothes so I can spend the night with good old Dee here, and DO NOT grab me again and give me any more wise sayings from your mother or you'll lose a hand. Exit Kathleen. Cass went after her briefly and went back inside. To find Dee comfortably ensconced in an armchair. Dee: I guess she told you, huh? Cass: Have you been listening to everything? Dee: I live here, don't I? And who could sleep with all the yelling. HEY, WALLY, YOU GOT THAT HOT CHOCOLATE READY YET?

Peter's been allowed in with Emily. Alice asked Donna about her visit with Emily. Donna was perturbed but she told Alice the truth. Alice was annoyed. Donna begged her not to tell Peter. Alice is disgusted.

Carl was told of Emily's condition. He wants the situation resolved.

Sandy confided his suspicions in MJ. She was reluctant to believe him.

Mac wants the gendarmes to hurry but they won't do things on his say-so alone. Carl is existing under the name of Kurtz. Mac's frustrated. The old coot.

Wallingford talked to Cass. Wallingford: You tried to put the make on her -- Cass: WELL -- Wallingford: Instead of courting her and treating her like the lady she is and she blew her stack. Such a shame, Cass. Cass: Well, I've been shot down before so don't feel sorry for me. Wallingford: Oh, I don't feel sorry for you. My sympathies are with Kathleen. Cass: HEY, I'm not exactly grinning from ear to ear about what happened, y'know. I CARE about Kathleen. And I may never have another chance with her because of this. So I get some sympathy too. Wallingford: If you cared about her, why didn't you act like it? Or are sex and caring the same thing? Cass: CLOSE. Wallingford: This boy has got a lot to learn. Cass: I don't even know why we're talking about it. It's over, isn't it? Wallingford: Oh, so you're giving up? Cass: well, what am I supposed to do? Wallingford: Well it depends on if you want Kathleen to care for you again or not. Cass: OF COURSE I want her to care for me again. Would I be this upset if I didn't? Wallingford: Okay, okay, then we're going to have to make a few changes -- Cass: Leopards don't change their spots. Wallingford: We're not talking about spots, we're talking about ATTITUDES. Cass: Look, you DO what you DO. You get out of life what you can, and you hope fro the best. Wallingford: Okay. Lesson number one: do what you want to do. Cass: Okay, what do I want to do? Wallingford: Well, how do you feel right now? Cass: A little tired, I guess. Wallingford: No, wrong answer. What are you feeling inside? Cass: Humiliated, frankly. Wallingford: No, wrong. THINK about what you're FEELING. Cass: Angry. Wallingford: Wrong. Cass: Upset. (Pause.) Ticked off? Wallingford: Cass, you're feeling SORRY. S-O-R-R-Y. Now, what do you do? Exit Cass.

Tom's worried about Emily. Am I any different? She says. If Emily Benson dies, her baby dies with her. (Meself I can't see what she's getting at but that's life.) Lily asked her if she wanted an abortion. Tom doesn't know.

Emily's been poisoned and there's nothing anyone can do.

MJ asked Kathleen what went wrong on her date. Kathleen spoke vaguely but volubly about Cass' egocentricity. MJ asked why she put up with him. She suggested she give him up. Kathleen agreed she should give up on him. Cass arrived and apologized. He told her he cared about her and asked forgiveness. MJ suddenly realised she was intruding on a tender moment and went to her room. Kathleen said she'd think about it. (Cass: You know what Felicia always calls me. Kathleen: Yeah. A bum. Cass: She's right. Sometimes. I mean -- reserving a bedroom right next to a private dining room -- that is kind of, um -- well, there are worse things that a guy could do, I guess -- in fact some people might not even think that it was such a bad idea -- in fact there are a lot of women who would probably be flattered -- Kathleen: CASS. Cass: What? Kathleen: Before you ruin your own apology why don't we just say that I'll think about it and I'll let you know. Cass: OH. Okay.) He offered her a ride to Cecile's. And to take her bag. And to get the door. And his arm. She said she didn't think they'd both fit through the door.

Tony was displeased to find Cass and Kathleen both out.

This is extremely fatal poison. Alice thinks it wasn't a suicide. The guard looked sinister. Alice sent her to get the police.

Carl was informed that Mac was on his way. He left in great haste. Precipitately.

Carter's annoyed that he as the father is rightless.

Tom told Quinn if Emily dies her baby dies with her. Quinn told her pretty much that a childed life would be hell. Tom's worried about the baby. Quinn says it's NOT A BABY. Tom went to bed. Lily told her whatever she decided would be right. Quinn told her off.

Mac once at Paradis found Carl had gone to the airport.

Tony wants to know if Dee likes it there. She says it's jail and Cass is the jailer but Wally's okay. Cass and Kathleen returned. Wally left. Dee was sent to bed. Rocco held Cass in a vice-like grip while Tony told him to take this task seriously. Rocco the anaconda. He threw Cass down on the couch and they left. Cass hopes Felicia's book on Sally and Catlin is sold soon. He's pinning his hopes on it rather.

Lily told Quinn being a mother was not necessarily worse than med. school. She suggested that Quinn was thinking more of herself than Thomasina. Quinn told her to stay out of it.

Carl insisted that they take off 'tho they're low on fuel. Mac asked that they be detained but Carl refused to obey the tower.

Kathleen said he was forgiven. He kissed her goodnight. She checked his wandering hands and saw him off. He said it was inevitable and left. Dee was listening unthrilled.

Emily died with Peter slobbering all over her hand. He left saying Hutchins did this.

Carl pulled a gun on the pilot. He said they're not going back. They took off. Mac's FURIOUS. Carl's grinning evilly/smugly.
