ANOTHER WORLD DAILY SYNOPSIS.

June 20, 1985

Catlin and Sally in bed. Rather a good deal of kissing. Catlin: Oh, this is NICE. Sally: It's like we're on our honeymoon again. Catlin: I wish we didn't have to work today. I could stay here ALL DAY. Sally: But I DON'T. I don't have to work today, I mean. Catlin: You don't? Sally: No, I called Jamie from the hospital yesterday. Catlin: That's great. Sally: I've got two weeks off. Catlin: Yeah, you can spend that time with Kevin. Sally: Well, I was hoping we might spend some of that time with YOU. Kissing. Catlin: When's he being released? Sally: This afternoon, thank goodness. Catlin: He HATES that hospital. Sally: He hates the food, poor baby. We are SO LUCKY. Catlin: We all are. Sally: If Brittany hadn't found him I know -- Catlin: She found him and everything's going to be all right. Sally: I resented her so much and now I owe her so much. Catlin: She's a good person, honey. Sally: Well, I want her to be as happy as we are. I really do. Catlin: As happy as WE are? Sally: Yeah. Catlin: Oh, that's asking a whole lot. Sally: Mhm.

Brittany in bed. Alone. Calling "Catlin." She dreamed he appeared without many clothes and took her in his arms and crawled all over her bare shoulder and kissed her rather a good deal. She said "I knew I'd find you . . . I love you." He said he'd never leave her. Next thing she knew he'd disappeared. She said "Catlin" and woke up breathing funny and mangling the covers.

Felicia: Jelly or sugar? Wally: I'll take the sugar. Felicia: Thanks. Listen, you haven't heard anything from the private dining room, have you? Wally: Well, Felicia I didn't listen all that hard. Felicia: Oh, I know. I feel like a voyeur myself. Wally: I just keep telling myself that it's for their own good. Felicia: I wonder if that's what Lizzie Borden said. Enter Lily. Lily: LIZZIE BORDEN. Don't tell me they killed each other. Wally: we don't know. We don't know anything yet. Lily: They stayed in there all night long? Felicia: ALL NIGHT. Just like in Vintage Year, though. Wally: That's the book Felicia wrote. Felicia: Yeah. You see the two lovers' friends locked them in the wine cellar until they were reunited. Lily: Or too drunk to stand up. Felicia: No, never in one of my books. Wally: Well, I just hope Cass and Kathleen have READ your books and know how they turn out. Felicia: Yeah, me too. Maybe we should've locked them in the wine cellar.

Kathleen in her sleep rolled over and cosied up to Cass. He (awake) protested and then put his arm around her and closed his eyes. She woke up. He opened his eyes. She apologized for tossing & turning and said he could sleep somewhere else if it bothered him. He said it hadn't. She commented on how silly it was to try to get them back together by locking them up. He said it didn't sound so ridiculous to him.

Sally on the phone to Alice. Catlin getting dressed. Sally: NO, Mom, don't you dare fly out here if you're feeling sick./Because Kevin is FINE. He's being released today in fact. Catlin: Tell her about my sore knee. Sally: Oh yes. And Catlin has a sore knee. But he's being VERY VERY brave about it./I know, well we want to see you too. I've got some time off, but -- Catlin: Hey, tell her you'll take Kevin out to see her in Washington. Sally: Just a minute, Mom. Do you think I should take Kevin? Catlin: Yeah, I think it would be a great idea. Sally: Could you go? Catlin: Oh, I can't, baby. I have work. Sally: I don't know then. Catlin: Look, you've been wanting to see your Mom. Kevin would love it. Sally: Yeah. Mom, listen, what if Kevin and I flew out to see you for a while?/It is a good idea./No, it was Catlin's idea./All right, I will. And I'll call you when we get the reservations. And Mom, listen, get some sleep, all right?/Okay, I love you. 'bye. (She rang off and flew across the room to Catlin causing him to say something akin to 'oof' and kissed him.) THIS is from my Mom. Catlin: She kisses as good as you do. Sally: are you sure you can't go? Catlin: I'd love to but I can't. There's so many things going on here. Sally: Brittany? Catlin: Yeah. Sally: Well, that's okay. Catlin: But I'll tell you, I do have a little time before I have to go to work. Sally: Oh, good. Kissing. You can help me make the bed. Catlin: Oh, um, I'd love to but -- my knee -- doctor's orders, no making beds. Sally: Oh, you -- get out of here. Liz: (off) Sal, are you here? Sally: Yeah, I'm in the bedroom. COME IN. Catlin: Honey, I'm going to come back here before I go to work. And also I want to save a little time for Kevin. Sally: I love you. Kissing. Enter Aunt Liz. Liz: Aw, how SWEET. (I will not say that Catlin looked like "a bull-terrier embarking on a scrap with an Airedale and just as it was getting nicely to its work suddenly having an unexpected Kerry Blue sneak up behind it and bite it in the rear quarters. When this happens, it lets go of the Airedale and fixes the butting-in animal with a pretty nasty eye." He did release the Airedale but merely looked at it as if to say "How very Aunt Lizzian."*) I was just leaving. Aunt Liz, you can help Sally pack. Ha ha. Exit Catlin. Sally put her head round the door to say goodbye. Sally: Kevin LOVED that telegram you sent him at the hospital, Aunt Liz. Liz: What's this about packing? Sally: I'm taking Kevin to see Mom for a little while. Liz: when did you decide? Sally: Just now. I was on the phone with her. She doesn't sound too good. Liz: well I think it's a good idea to visit -- Sally: Good. You want to help me make the bed? Liz: Sal -- Sally: What? Liz: I don't think you should leave town right now.

Zane came to see Brittany. She made the paper for her "Daring Rescue of Local Boy." She said anyone would've done the same. He told her if she hadn't done that they might both be dead right now. She told him never to say a thing like that. He told her he was proud of her for facing things. She said she'd be a fool not to recognise that Catlin loves Sally. He started to say something about being in love with someone in love with someone else but she silenced him. They're agreed it's hard. She realises that Catlin wants to be with Sally & Kevin. Zane asked if she were going to divorce him. She said it didn't make much sense for Catlin to be married to her any more. Astute woman.

Cass said he didn't even remember what had broken them up to begin with. Kathleen reminded him of the farm and said he'd said hurtful things and she'd responded in kind. He said people sometimes said things they didn't mean. She said just because they didn't mean them didn't mean they could be wished away. They said Felicia (and everyone else) should just leave them alone. They're doing all right on their own. How are they to get out? It's too direct to DEMAND to be let out and she'd know they were lying if they told her they were back together. But Cass just happened to notice the old dumbwaiter. Kathleen: Why do I have a sinking feeling that somebody has to crawl into that thing? Cass: Kathleen, do you want to grow old and gray in this -- suite? Kathleen: Right, make way for flying McKinnon. Cass: No no no, I'll go. Kathleen: WHY? Cass: Well -- we don't know if it's safe or where it leads -- I think it goes up one floor -- but if somebody's going to get stuck in it I'd rather it was me. Kathleen: Really? Cass: Yeah. So I'll just climb in there and you pull on the rope, okay? You can handle that. Kathleen. Sure, no problem. Strong like bull. Cass: Sure. I'll go up to the second floor and then I'll come down here and get you out. Kathleen: It'll kill Felicia to see up trotting out together. Laughter. Cass: We're a great team. I mean for stuff like this. Kathleen: Yeah, Lucy and Ricky Ricardo. So what do I do, just pull on these ropes? Cass: That's it. And when I see the opening I'll give a yell. (Pause.) What do you say, how 'bout a kiss for luck? Kathleen: Um -- under the circumstances how about your clothes? Cass: OH, yeah. Wouldn't want to give the wrong impression. Kathleen: No, we don't. He went into the bedroom to get his shirt and she leaned against the wall and made the most tremendous "what a close shave THAT was" face. He returned and got into the dumbwaiter with a "babaloo".

Carter returned from New Orleans to find Tom asleep on the mattress that masquerades as their couch. He awakened her with a kiss. She can't sleep in their bed with him away. He might make another run next week. A lot of kissing. Enter Dee who announced that she wasn't there. Carter called her over so she took a flying leap and landed between them. They discussed spending Carter's money on furniture. Dee's into Art Deco. Carter's into naugahyde. (Right now their furniture is the mattress and a bunch of milk crates.) Carter loves his job.

Adrienne talked to the cop (her cop) and said that Tommy Lee (!) was getting edgy and wanted Willa's stuff back. He's coming to town. She's going to handle Ewing.

Clarice and Larry having breakfast alone together without children. (Canteloupe, strawberries and eggs benedict.) She doesn't like seeing him so little but she's determined not to nag. He says he's job hunting and what he's doing right now is for all of them and she has to believe it. She said she loved him. He said he loved her. He got a call from someone wanting to see him right now. He told Clarice it was a job interview and left praising her canteloupe.

Lily: Did you hear something? Wally: No, I didn't. Felicia: Neither did I. Lily: Could'a' sworn I heard Kathleen's voice. Wally: Lily, that's just wishful thinking. Felicia: I thought they'd make up by now, or at least start yelling to be let out. I never thought they'd just STAY in there. Wally: Well it's VERY PECULIAR. Felicia: I know. Lily: I think we should just open up that suite, tell 'em it's all over.

[Ed. note: Due to a tragic housecleaning accident, the rest of this day's synopsis is lost to posterity. The only surviving fragments are the following pieces of transcribed dialogue.]

Sally: Kevin's sport coat and pants are at the cleaners. Do you think he'll need them? Liz: I think you should reconsider this trip. Sally: Why? Liz: You're going to wrinkle that shirt, let me -- Sally: Here. Liz: Because this is not a good time to leave town. Sally: You worry too much. Everything is fine. Oh, Kevin's going to need something to wear home from the hospital. Liz: Brittany is a strong-willed woman. She is not going to forget a MAN overnight. Sally: I know that. Liz: Here are his boots and a pair of socks. Sally. Great. Thanks. Liz: Brittany needs TIME you and Catlin and Kevin need TIME. Time to be together. Sally: We have all the time we need. Brittany's not trying to pull us apart any more. Liz: Sure? Sally: Yes, I'm sure. She realises what she's done to us. Liz: Oh, I'm sure she DOES. Sally: It's OVER. I just hope we can all get along. Liz: You are not even being realistic. Sally: Mom says it's already hot in Washington. Hey, when do the cherry blossoms come out? Liz: EARLY SPRING. Sally: Oh. Liz: I think you should STAY HERE until the divorce is final. Sally: Why? Liz: Things happen. Sally: Not to Catlin and me. Not any more. Nothing is going to keep us apart. I know that now. Liz: I hope you're right. Sally: I am. And I miss Mom. I want to see her. Liz: Well I miss her too. Sally: Well it's just going to be for a couple of weeks, not forever. Catlin's going to be here when I get back. Liz: You should go to Donaldson's Bakery and get a cheesecake for Alice. She'll love it. Sally: Now THAT'S a great idea. Liz: I want you to be happy, you know. Sally: I AM happy. Isn't this a happy face? Liz: I know I worry too much. Sally: You DO. Liz: I have to try to stop it. Sally: Do you think you CAN? Liz: Piece of pie. Sally: CAKE. Liz: Piece of cake. You have to pack some sensible shoes. You're going to be EXHAUSTED. All that sightseeing.

Catlin: SALLY? Wait until you see what I got for Kevin. Liz: I'm in here, dear. Catlin: Hi. What happened to Sally? Liz: Well, first she went to the cleaners to pick up Kevin's sport coat and slacks. Second she went to Donaldson's Bakery to pick up the cheesecake for Alice. Catlin: Oh. Want to see what I got for Kevin? Liz: I'd love to see what you got for Kevin. Catlin: It's a LARIAT. This is great, it's for a kid but it works great. Watch this. It's just a rope to you, right? Forget it. Liz: I'm sure Kevin will love it. Catlin: Oh, I hope so. I love that kid. Liz: You know you could teach him to USE the lariat if he weren't going to Washington. Catlin: Well I'll teach him as soon as he gets back from Washington. BOY, you sure are a neat packer. Liz: Well yes you see I put tissue paper between each layer. It's the way my -- did you see Brittany? Catlin: No. Liz: I thought you might -- talk to her about the divorce. Catlin: Not yet. I don't want to rush it. Liz: No matter what happens to Sally, I -- Catlin: Look, Liz. I have to wait for the right time to break it to Brittany. Liz: I just WISH Sally weren't going to Washington right now. Catlin: She doesn't have to be here to stake her claim. I'm hers no matter where she is. Liz: I know you love her. Catlin: Sally and Kevin are my family. And nothing anyone would do could change that. Liz: Sally's counting on it.
