These scenes are undated but I believe they are during the week of October 15th.
Catlin: oh, that didn't take long.
Sally: well, luckily.
Catlin: what did you do, jog?
Sally: I should've. I saw the woman at the front desk giving you the eye when you walked in.
Catlin: don't even joke around like that. If you don't trust me by now then none of this is worth it.
Sally: oh come on I do trust you. Just not around Donna [she laughed].
Catlin: I don't think I ever want to hear Donna's name again.
Sally: sorry, but you have to.
Catlin: what?
Sally: well, she's got something to do with these murders. She was arrested, you know.
Catlin: yeah, I heard.
Sally: well I told the police I saw her wearing the ring.
Catlin: the ring you saw the night of the murder.
Sally: yeah I know it was the same ring. But they let her go. Not enough evidence according to Larry.
Catlin: again and again and again and
Sally: oh! But today I got more stuff on her.
Catlin: really?
Sally: yeah, Dr Dunning's old files. I found the record about her.
Catlin: you know, I don't like this — this private eye stuff. It's getting a little out of hand.
Sally: Catlin, we're getting somewhere.
Catlin: you really think Donna was in on it?
Sally: well — don't you?
Catlin: I don't know.
Sally: now you're going to tell me that she wouldn't ever do anything wrong, that she's a real sweetheart.
Catlin: I thought we dropped that subject. It's just — why would Donna do it?
Sally: well maybe David and Dr Dunning had something on her like that file.
Catlin: what did the file say?
Sally: Oh well that's the thing.it was empty. Somebody tore up the medical records. I got the file though.
Catlin: where is it?
Sally: in my bag.
Catlin: all right. I don't want you taking any more risks. What if someone saw you today?
Sally: there was no risk, I took a file —
Catlin: you know, listen to me — what about what happened in that parking lot today?
Sally: oh. Oh, I forgot. I can't believe I didn't tell you this I was so mad at you.
Catlin: what?
Sally: I saw him.
Catlin: who?
Sally: the guy, the murderer, the one who ran you off the road.
Catlin: today?
Sally: yeah, at the bar.
Catlin: oh, Sally.
Larry: Catlin, open up, it's me.
Catlin: just a minute.
Sally: what is he DOING here?
Catlin: I'll explain later.
Sally: he'll arrest you.
Catlin: no he won't. It's part of the deal.
Sally: DEAL?
Catlin: I'll explain later. Never mind. Get in here.
Sally: oh, what is going on?
Catlin: don't worry.
Sally: oh. Catlin.
Catlin: what? [she kissed him and he shut her up in the closet and let Larry in.]
Catlin: go ahead, hit me.
Sally: I really should... no. You're not going to get me laughing.
Catlin: no?
Sally: no.
Catlin: all right. I guess I should have insisted on you knowing.
Sally: yeah you should have.
Catlin: it was just awkward all those people doing it for me.
Sally: they should do it for you. It's OK though. I forgive you.
Catlin: well. We've had our first fight.
Sally: you know what they say about fighting. It's so much fun to make up.
[Catlin laughed.] VAST MAKING UP NOISES.
Catlin: what time do you have to leave?
Sally: I don't.
Catlin: what?
Sally: I'm not going home. My mom thinks I'm in Boston.
Catlin: you're kidding.
Sally: no. I couldn't sit around there not doing anything so I told her I was going to visit friends in Boston. Everybody goes to New England around now. You know, foliage and all that.
Catlin: so you came to Crystal Lake to look for Dunning's records.
Sally: Yop. Now I have nowhere to go. I guess you'll have to take me in.
Catlin: I don't know how long you can stay here.
Sally: why, because of Larry?
Catlin: yeah, he keeps checking in.
Sally: well, not again tonight.
Catlin: that's a good point... When I woke up this morning I had no idea this day would turn out like this.
Sally: yeah, our first fight and now we're going to spend our first night together.
Catlin: I can't believe it.
Sally: we WERE going to spend the night together before —
Catlin: yeah, and Donna —
Sally: DON'T mention her name.
Catlin: all right, ALL RIGHT.
Sally: you remember what we decided?
Catlin:. That everything would be perfect.
Sally: and that's not going to be long. I know it. We're going to be together and it's going to be just perfect. Everything. Does that make you happy?
Catlin: yeah.
Sally: The only problem is, I don't have anything to wear to bed. Pause.
Catlin: um. Where is your stuff?
Sally: in my car. In that awful parking lot.
Catlin: well I have a bunch of stuff in that bag back there.
Sally: Oooh. That'd be fine. I'll find something.
Catlin: OK.
VAST RUMMAGING SOUNDS. Peal of laughter from Sally.
Sally: I found something.
Catlin: good. Great.
Sally: how do I look?
Catlin made peculiar appreciative sounds.
Catlin: what's that for?
Sally: honey, you didn't think I was going to let you sleep on the bare FLOOR, did you?
Catlin: no. Um — no, I didn't think that at all.
Sally: well I took the bedspread.
Catlin: well that's OK.
Sally: well, honey, you can have the blanket.
Catlin: I — I don't think I'll need it.
Sally: OK, well, whatever. Anyway, I'm so nice, I took the lumpiest pillow.
Catlin: great. Thanks.
Sally: this is nice, being close like this, isn't it?
Catlin: yeah. This is really nice.
Sally: I'm glad that I'm different for you. Different from Donna Love.
Catlin: yeah.
Sally: I'm glad that's what you want.
Catlin: yeah. This is — what I wanted. It sure is.
Sally: good night. I love you.
Catlin: I love you too. I love you so much. DISCONTENTED BREATHING.
