ANOTHER WORLD DAILY SYNOPSIS.

December 17, 1984

Thomasina is somewhat depressed. Sleeping with Carter seems to have been something of a letdown. Not romantic enough. She said so and he's not too happy either. (The girl is tactful, nicht wahr?) She asked to be taken home.

Sandy's gone off somewhere. The Corys know not where. Amanda and Diane returned safe and sound. Donna told them Rachel was there. She's worried about what Sandy's going to do. Mac's going to go and get Rachel. Jamie's going to go after Sandy.

Aunt Liz wants Mark to find out what's bothering Catlin so they can help Sally and Catlin. Mark says it's something about a cabin. He doesn't really understand it. Aunt Liz does but she just told Mark it was personal and they shouldn't talk about it. (I've never really understood whose cabin it is. But it's the one where he and Sally used to meet a good deal.)

Vince wants MJ to wear the cameo to Christmas Eve Mass. The sisters are agonizing.

Sandy is looking for Carl with a target pistol. In an empty studio.

Mac is comforting Rachel. He told Donna the man [Carl] is sick and she should be able to throw him out as they're not married.

Carl listened to his tape recording of Amanda's voice. FIENDISHLY. It's juts an electronic simulation.

Jamie found Sandy. (I like his coat.)

The McKinnon sisters are determined to get Mama's brooch out of hock. Kathleen is sorry. MJ wants to know why she did it. Kathleen said only "You want to know why I did it? Because I'm dumb." No mention of Cass.

Catlin's not in a great mood. Sally's trying to cheer him up. He didn't get some job. Catlin: I wanted it before Christmas so I could -- I so I could get something I wanted. Sally: Honey, you are so strong, and so willing. (Is it just me or are there connotations here? I keep considering his previous employers, you see.) Catlin: But not as skilled. Sally: Honey, you're making progress. Catlin: Yeah, sure. Sally: Listen, you came to this town, what, nine months ago, and you showed me that I was marrying the wrong man, which was true, and you made me fall in love with you, which was -- wonderful. And we went halfway around the world to clear you of a murder charge. Here we are, we're sitting here picking out a wedding date. That's progress. Catlin: I need a job. Sally: And you cut your hair and shaved your beard. That's progress. (I realise that none of this really serves any purpose but it's much easier to write down what they said than it is to say what happened. No mental strain involved.)

Carter restored Thomasina to her home. He told her he loved her and that seemed to make her much happier. ("I'm so all right I could explode," she cried, flinging herself into his arms.) He said it a great many times.

Sandy's snapped. Jamie tried to convince him to keep up his cover. They scuffled and Carl came in. Jamie snatched up the gun and threatened Carl with it.

Rachel was pleased to see Amanda. The car did not break down. It was out of gas. There was a puncture in the gas tank in such a place that it had to be inflicted by a person. There is hope for Sandy. The Corys are pleased that Sandy seems to have the right idea.

Jamie was quite the nut. (I like that coat.) Sandy stepped between him and Carl and talked to him reasonably. Jamie left. Carl was thrilled by Sandy's loyalty. He intends to find a way to thank him.

Lily called Thomasina. Thomasina was almost monosyllabic. Less then euphoric. Grant offered to take Lily home. He apologised for not being able to forgive her the prostitution.

Catlin took Sally home. She's still trying to cheer him up and succeeding rather better than in Smiley's. He said he's loved her from the first moment he laid eyes on her. He suggested they get married on February 21. She said that was perfect. O but she wants to talk to Kevin first. Catlin left. Sally went in. Alice asked her why she was so happy. Sally said it was because it was snowing. Aunt Liz knew Catlin was upset. She told Sally to tell him that everything would work out and he was to "trust in Christmas." Sally went to bed and Aunt Liz said to herself "Well, of course, we can't leave everything to chance." The DEVIOUS woman. What is she up to?

Jamie didn't tell the Corys what happened. He told Blaine to slow up the divorce. MJ got there (ill at ease) and arrested him for brandishing a target pistol without a permit. Or something along that line.

I think Feb. 21 is either the day Josh breezed into Bay City or the first day he saw Sally. (All he said was "It'll be special to us.")

Have you noticed that if all goes well between now and the end of February 3/4 of the married couples in Bay City will involve Ewings? Suspicious.
