ANOTHER WORLD DAILY SYNOPSIS.

December 14, 1984

Carl raised the cup and said he didn't want it to end like this so Donna dashed the cup from his lips and broke it. He said she should clean it up before it eats right into the rug so he must've suspected her hellbrew.

Mark KNEW Kevin wanted a flocked tree so he got Alice to suggest one to Sally. Sally thought Alice had fallen out of her plate and said so in no uncertain terms until Kevin said, "Please, Sally." (Catlin has real gems of lines like "Let me put that scarf on for you." How the mighty are fallen!) Then of course there was nothing for it but to go for a flocked tree. Aunt Liz brought a strange old woman over. Name of Helen Gilbert. Mark got a weird look on his face when they shook hands.

Carter's SAT scores: 761 verbal, 744 math. The man is brilliant. Grant still wants him to take the football scholarship even though he could have his pick of colleges.

The Cory house is empty. Mac's worried.

Rachel got to a strange building with Amanda's voice inside. She's hysterical. (We suspect it's a tape recording.)

Helen Gilbert's husband is missing. She told Mark all about it. The man's been missing 4 days. Mark was allowed to feel the locket with his picture in it.

Ada: Krystle? That's a pretty name. Maisie: Well, I'm afraid that's where it ends. She's kinda on the homely side. She's real sweet though, Ada. I think you'd like her. Ada: Well, I'd like to meet her. Maisie: Y'know she keeps to her room quite a bit. Shy, y'know. And I think she's going through a bad time right now. Ada: What's her problem? Maisie: Well, she won't talk about it, but being as homely as she is I have a feeling it must be man trouble. I sure wish I could find her a beau.

The young people are happy. (Except Thomasina. Carter's not there yet.) Perry says Carl's not a murderer.

Rachel's still trying to get into the building.

Helen Gilbert was restored to her home. Mark MIGHT know something. He's calling the police to tell them where Mr. Gilbert can be found.

Rachel's rattling doorknobs. Calling "Amanda." Amanda keeps calling "Mommy. Is that my Mommy? Mommy?" and Rachel screams, "Please don't hurt her."

Lily and Grant made stilted small talk. Grant still thinks football is more important than Thomasina.

Thomasina went to the Todds'. Carter was just about to call and say he couldn't go to Smiley's. Carter's under vast pressure. He said they should go away and get out of there. And either she comes with him or she leaves.

Donna's on edge. She snapped at Hildy. Sandy got there. Donna told him she'd tried to poison Carl.

Marley's brooding. Ben realises something's going on. Marley says she wishes she knew what was going on at the house.

Sandy told Donna she'd done the right thing. Donna's afraid Carl will hurt Marley. She wants Sandy to stop him.

Sally sent Kevin to get a box from her room. Sally and Catlin are going to sit outside together just a little while longer. Catlin said when he first saw her he had no idea they'd wind up picking out Christmas trees together. Sally said when she first saw him she did. She said she said to herself, "There is the man of my dreams. And my Christmas tree picker." Catlin: You liar. You didn't even like me. Sally: Well, I still don't like you very much. She continued talking about Christmas and said it was the best time of the year. Catlin said this one was. And she amended it to Christmas was the best time of the year if you're not alone. (He's been alone a fair bit, she realised.) She said he'd never be alone at Christmas again because he was stuck with them forever. And they kissed a good deal and Catlin asked her to marry him.* (Catlin: Sally. Sally: What? Catlin: Will you marry me? Sally: OF course I'll marry you. Catlin: Listen, I want you to know. You know I've been around and I've done some things I'm not very proud of. Sally: Catlin -- Catlin: I want you to hear this. I've never met anyone like you before. I mean I've never asked anyone to marry me, but I know what I'm doing. This is forever. And I promise I'll take care of you. I -- I won't hurt you in any way, I won't do anything that would upset you. Sally: Catlin, I know that. Catlin: And a lot of people are going to say that you're not marrying much, but that's okay. It's all right. You don't have to worry about that. Sally: Honey, we love each other. And how we feel is all that matters. Catlin: I just want you to know I'm serious. Sally: You're always serious. (pause) I can't wait to be married to you. And I know you don't take it lightly and I don't take it lightly either. Catlin: Now this is just between the two of us. We don't have to tell anybody yet. [You can't keep secrets with a man like Mark around. Think of poor Bill.] Sally: I think I've known (KNOWN?) for a while. These are just the formalities. Catlin: Well, from now on formalities are important. Well, Miss Frame, will you marry me? Sally: I would love to, Mr. Ewing. They kissed rather a good deal until someone sounded his horn in a rather loud and prolonged fashion. (I think we can assumed they're sitting in a car.) Catlin: Well. We'd better get this tree inside. Can't keep Kevin waiting. Sally: Wait a minute. I just want you to know that I've never been so happy in my whole life.)

Carter and Thomasina are being affectionate. Thomasina said she loved him. He said she loved a fool. They're rustling a fair bit. He said he loved her. More rustling. He said he needed her. She said she knew. Further rustling.

Those at the Matthews' are singing carols. Alice and Aunt Liz are discussing Mark's psychic knowledge in covert whispers. The husband was found (alive) thanks to Mark's directions.

Mac's wife is missing and he wants her found. ("King John put up a notice LOST OR STOLEN OR STRAYED JAMES JAMES MORRISON'S MOTHER SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN MISLAID LAST SEEN WANDERING VAGUELY QUITE OF HER OWN ACCORD SHE TRIED TO GET DOWN TO THE END OF THE TOWN FORTY SHILLINGS REWARD.") 2 tecs are on their way.

Rachel took her hysterics to the Love estate. Looking for Carl. She's having an unfun time of it.

In case I neglected to mention it, Peter is mending his pore busted heart in Europe. (Probably getting tipsy every night and parading around with lampshades on his head. Too bad Ross won't be around to admire him.)

Sally was sniffling rather. I'm not certain whether it was the result of deep emotion or deep illness.

If Sally thinks Catlin is always serious she hasn't been attending.

I'm sure if Carter had had a palomino he would have made the best possible use of it.

"Hey. While I think of it, how 'bout marryin' me?" "Gracious. What I want to do that fer?" "Well couldn't you maybe think of some reason why you might?" "Can't hardly think of nothing just yet." "Laurey, please mar' me -- marry me. I don't know what I'm gonna do if you don't." "Oh, Curly, course I'll marry you, iff'n you want me to." "HEY. If there's anyone out here around this yard that can hear my voice, I just want for you to know that Laurey Williams is MY GIRL --" "CURLY!" "-- and she went and got me to ast her to marry me." (AND SO IT GOES ON.)

I'm sure Catlin must have a dress suitable for a wedding stashed away in the infamous "that bag back there."
