ANOTHER WORLD DAILY SYNOPSIS.

November 14, 1984

Mac was somehow able to buy that magazine that Carl got underhandedly. Rachel is delighted. Mac wants to get on with the publishing of the book about Catlin in Brava. He's simply desperate for Felicia to call. Rachel is going to ask about it delicately, so as not to upset Felicia. Carl showed up wanting to talk to Mac.

Cardiac arrest room 511. With these words Alice Frame set about saving Mark's life. Alice is aware that someone is responsible. (Like physics. One of those "unbalanced forces" we hear so much about.) The alarm didn't go off the nurses' station.

It turns out that the man Cass attacked was the German consul. Oops. Cass is utterly offended because the American consul is in Madrid. (Cass: I'm in trouble. Cecile is in trouble. Who knows what other American is in trouble, and he's gone off to Madrid. Kathleen: Next time try not attacking the German consul. Cass: How was I supposed to know he was the German consul? All of a sudden he lays this "sprechen Sie Deutsch?" stuff on me, and the next thing I know I'm being carted off with a bodyguard under each arm. [Enter a third party] Third-party: Sprechen Sie Deutsch?" Kathleen: What? Third party: Ach, Entschuldigung. Und so weiter. (Mehr Deutsch). Are you sure that's German? says Cass.) They're in some sort of linguistic dilemma. Solution: Kathleen: Cass, you just talk to me, and I'll translate it into French for the drunk, and the drunk can translate it into German for the officers, and the officers can translate it into German for the captain. This is weird, people. I understood a lot of the mess that followed.

Carl called Mac's business practices devious. (My word, not his.) He said things about Mac hiding behind other people and not caring who he hurt or what families were destroyed. Mac was flabbergasted, not to say confused. He then raved about Sandy, saying that Mac couldn't buy Sandy back. This precipitated Mac into spluttering fury. He ordered Carl out. Carl's parting shot: Mr. Cory seems to've lost his temper ... among other things.

Felicia had to go out. Tony Jones is going to come over. She left Wallingford to entertain him. (She doesn't want to offend a gangster.) Wallingford is none too pleased and more than a little afraid. ("Deep down, he's not a nice man, you know?") The bell rang, much to Wallingford's alarm. Felicia had suggested that he appease the Tuna with tea. It was only Rachel though.

Back to the multilingual mess. The captain said " aah", which was promptly repeated by the officers, the drunk, and Kathleen. Cass: I know what he said. You don't have to translate things like that. [Rigamarole.] Kathleen: Who is this beautiful young woman, that you have to defend her honor? Cass: She's a nun. Kathleen: Cass, you can't tell them that. Cass: Trust me. Kathleen: Cette femme est une nonne.

Alice told Peter that someone unhooked the machines attached to Mark on purpose. They are both aware that it has to be someone familiar with hospital procedure and that that someone is probably still on duty and might try again ... there's a security man posted outside Mark's room. MJ concedes that Donna couldn't have been to unhitch Mark but it doesn't seem like this can clear her. She also hinted that Donna had paid someone to do this but Peter took exception to it.

Emily let herself into Peter's apartment and thought about shooting Mark. She looks scared. Well at least it's all over she said pulling off her glove to expose the ring.

Tony wanted to know Cass' whereabouts. Wallingford denied all knowledge. Rachel was a bit fazed by Wallingford's references to Felicia his wife but she kept mum. When she left the room the Tuna took the opportunity to tell Wallingford that he knew he knew that Cass had left the country. He left a message that Cass was to brass up or bring an undertaker. He left. Wallingford settled down to explain to Rachel about gangsters and Felicia's marriage and so on.

Peter arrived home to find Emily cheerfully baking away in his kitchen. She was sweetly sympathetic about poor Donna--accused of something she didn't do. Grrrrr. And she was so sorry to hear that someone had unplugged Mark. Peter: Well, I didn't say he died, honey. He told her of Alice's timely entrance. Emily put drugs in Peter's orange juice.

Felicia told Rachel the book's going to take a while longer. And that they might be close to finding Cecile. Rachel doesn't like Cecile but if it's going to help Catlin she's all for it. (How noble, Mrs. Cory. Cecile being the blight that she is, that took great strength.)

Kathleen is none too thrilled the Cass said she was a nun. (Why those folks believed him, I'll never know. She was awfully tarted up for a nun.) He was released though so he doesn't care. He then raved about Cecile's beauty. Kathleen: Can I ask you a question? Cass: Sure. Kathleen: Where are your brains? (Nicely done, Kathleen.) ... You're chasing a dream. Wake up. He accused her of being jealous and said that Cecile loved him. He said it was obvious that she was jealous. Kathleen: Obvious, huh? You want obvious? I'll give you obvious. And she slapped him and ran out.

Peter grows weary. He's dropping off.

Cass pursued Kathleen out of the suite and alongside the pool. Cass apologized to her. She reminded him of all the things she's done for him. She was on the verge of forgiving him when he made the ill-timed remark that he had to keep reminding himself that she's not Cecile. She pushed him into the pool.

Mack told Rachel about Carl. He says that some people are just evil, and Carl is one of them. "The man is pure evil," he said.

Emily called Carl. She asked (with not much hope) whether it was really necessary to do this to Peter. Carl told her to get on with it so she filled up her little syringe and told the unconscious Peter she really loved him. The end.

Repeat of Shakespearean interlude: you all did love him once, not without cause. Immaterial.

If I understand this correctly Cass said that Kathleen was a nun because by saying that it meant that he thought the man he attacked was hitting on a nun and so it's all right. Kathleen did not look the least bit like a nun. Do nuns wear blond wigs and tons of makeup and red dresses? I think not.
