Mac borrowed one of Rachel's favourite sculptures [she'd done it herself] to try to jog her memory.
Zane went to see Britt. She told him go away but he said they had to talk. She let him in. She's sniffing. She asked about Kevin. Zane told her he was confused but all right. She said she couldn't face him she couldn't face anybody. He told her it was time to 'fess up to Catlin.
Infection or rejection possible but Donna says it has to come right. Everlastingly grateful to Victoria. She wants to take her home to wait on her hand and foot. She said she'd go get the rest of her things from her motel. Vic stammered and said she couldn't go there. Donna was confused but Vic said Bridget could go and they [Vic and Donna] could go home together. Donna's agreed. She wants to know all about her. She went to talk to the doctor. She wants to see Marley but she's in total isolation. Vic raved to Bridget about how they could have been found out if Donna had gone to the motel. Bridget soothed her. Victoria's determined not to let anything upset her going home.
Mac suggested he and Liz go to look at the rose garden [leaving Rachel alone to look at her sculpture. A pair of fearfully knobbly hands entitled "Marriage"]. Brian appeared and they tried to get him to leave but Rachel told him what was going on. She thanked Mac 'tho she has no further memory. She thinks it's pretty good. The sculpture. They all decided to go out. Liz and Brian went ahead. Liz: You know it was like Blithe Spirit when you came through those French doors. If I could find a bicycle ... Mac went to join Liz and Brian. Rachel took out a sketch pad and began to sketch.
Britt said she couldn't just tell Catlin she had to think about it. Zane said when she told him he wouldn't pity her anymore. She said she didn't want his pity. He said it seemed to be the only hold she had on him. She slapped him. He told her she'd built her whole life around finding this guy and when she had he'd been married and she was too late. "And he wasn't even Josh anymore" she said. "And you were so hurt," he said. He told her she'd unconsciously played on his pity to keep him near her and Catlin was a different person and so was she. He told her she'd almost given in to her fright at the storm but since then she'd grown stronger and stronger inside and out. He told her she didn't need Catlin. She said she did. He said she was an unusual critter and strong enough to let Catlin and herself go. She said if she told him she could talk it would be all over and it wasn't fair. She cried and left. He said it was up to her now. [Victoria and Donna and Zane. People are repeating things like mad. Saying them twice.]
Everybody came back in. Liz and Brian and Mac and Rachel are going to go out. They looked at Rachel's sketch and identified it as the cabin on Laurel Lake she hasn't seen since the accident. Mac wants to keep it. They're going to the Plains Motel at Rachel's suggestion.
Jake was halfway into Vic's room bearing flowers when Donna found him and prevented him from going in. She told him Marley was too sick to have visitors. He was much abashed and apologized and turned to go but Donna called him back and said he'd looked into the room. He said boldly that he had and Marley looked well enough. She said that wasn't Marley. It was Marley's twin. He said he hadn't known Marley had a twin. She said they hadn't wanted anyone to know. He told her she didn't have to explain and he wouldn't tell anyone. She said Vic was the donor. He gave her the flowers and told her to give them to Vic from a grateful friend of Marley's. Donna said Vic didn't know anyone there and he could give them to her himself. So he was let in and introduced as one of Marley's friends and they shook hands. Donna left. Vic [vair ' pleased] told Jake he was crazy. Bridget told him it was dangerous. He sent her to be lookout and kissed Vic rather a lot. He told her he was proud of her.
Liz is leaving Kevin with Nancy. They're going to read The Hidden Harbour Mystery [No. 14 in the Hardy Boys series]. Kevin's perturbed because Liz was apologizing for imposing on Nancy ["Why do you think I'm an imposition?"] Nancy's glad to have him. Kevin went inside and stood by the door and overheard Liz worrying about him. And saying things about divorce. And Brittany. He left just before she said she loved that little boy and didn't want anything to hurt him.
Felicia served Zane dinner. He was impressed. Zane: This is great. What do you call this? Felicia: Chicken. I mean, I call it chicken. Zane: I think I've been eating out too much. This is wonderful. Felicia: You know it has mushroom sauce on it. Maybe that's what tripped you up ... you know I started in this world as Fanny Grady. I never saw a mushroom until I left home. He said they were very different. He's unromantic and it's her whole life. Felicia: There a lot of ways to be romantic. Gary Cooper was very romantic. Zane: Oh yeah? You know one time I tried to be like him. Felicia: You're kidding. Zane: Only I talked too much. Felicia: You really tried to be like Gary Cooper? Zane: Well even I knew I couldn't be Cary Grant. Felicia: You know I used to love Lana Turner. She could suffer so well. Zane: I like you a whole lot better than Lana Turner. Felicia: You do, really? Why exactly? Zane: Lana Turner never cooked me any dinner. She rebuked him for not having touched his wine. She offered beer. He asked for milk. She forgave him because Jimmy Stewart drank milk in some movie. He said this may not be romantic but he sure liked talking to her.
Larry on the phone to MJ telling her to get hold of Colin Brady FBI. Brittany appeared wanting to see Catlin. Larry told her Catlin wasn't there and she could wait for Clarice. He went back to the phone and told MJ it was all right Britt couldn't hear him and he was going to go the Plains Motel in about an hour. No news on Dale. He mentioned Willa being killed.
Zane is stiff. Felicia gave him a massage. They discussed Lesoleil and beauty. She talked and went away and said things about the sun. He fell asleep.
Nancy was willing to read Hardy Boys but Kevin produced his sign language book from beneath the sofa cushion and said he'd rather read that and he'd hidden it because Aunt Liz didn't like it. Nancy said she'd read anything he wanted. She asked if he were all right. He said everybody asked that. She said he didn't seem too happy. He said Brittany was going to take him to the rodeo but she ran away from him and he wasn't sure she wanted to any more. Nancy said she was sure Britt had just been upset about something else. Jake arrived and claimed Nancy's attention. Kevin offered to go upstairs with the other kids. Nancy thanked him profusely.
Larry spoke further of Willa's not accidental overdose to MJ but when Clarice arrived called her [MJ] Burt and hung up. Clarice told Britt Catlin wouldn't be back for a couple of days [no mention of Sally]. Larry left in a hurry to have a drink with Burt. Britt told Clarice she had to go someplace important.
Larry at the Plains Motel. Adrienne called him Lieutenant. He said he was no longer a cop and she should call him Larry. He rushed out to make a phone call avoiding the Cory party but returned after they'd gone.
Vic's been put in Marley's room. Donna wants to decorate one just for her. Bring them closer. Donna said she'd bought a new nightgown and robe for Marley and she'd give it to her. Vic very stupidly told her which drawer it was in. Bridget hastily said she'd been showing her Marley's things. Donna said she'd thought it might have been a twin psychic link. Donna went to call the hospital. Bridget reminded her that she wouldn't be able to see Jake for a while. Vic said she didn't mind as long she knew he was thinking about her.
Nancy telling Jake she knows how much he cares about Marley. She suggested they go to the hospital. Just after they left Diane appeared and supposed Nancy had taken Kevin with her.
Larry tipped Adrienne generously. She commented on his jobless state and he said he let work find him.
Dr. Edwards told Donna she should come to the hospital because Marley had developed an infection.
Last call at the Plains Motel. Britt being deaf ordered a beer and listened to Adrienne on the phone with the boss. Saying she thought Larry was on the up and up.
Diane told the returning Cory party that Nancy had left with Jake and asked if she would've taken Kevin. "Kevin, you've lost Kevin?" said Aunt Liz. She took fits. They begin the search. Liz dashed off to the stables.
