Mary was gone so long that MJ was worried about her. Mary told her she'd been for a walk. MJ asked her not to walk in the alley because of the danger. Adam hastened to break up what promised to be a long conversation and told Mary to tell MJ to have dinner at Tops with him. MJ said she wouldn't eat in Reginald's restaurant. Mary told her she should be nice to Felicia. MJ thought she was a little too vehement. Adam asked her to do it for him. She caved in. He made reservations gleefully.
Chad heard Mitch taking the reservation and elected to stay put. Mitch was barely civil to Peter. Peter informed him that he was in charge of a lot of things in the Love Tower. [Mitch: did you come here to drink or to talk? Peter: believe it or not, I can do both at the same time. Mitch: I'm impressed.] Peter's offices are going to be downstairs. Sara arrived and asked if Michael had left any messages. Mitch asked why Michael would be phoning her.
Michael and That Old Carrot argued over which of them loved Donna more and which had pushed her over the brink of insanity. Reginald said he'd done everything for Donna's own good. Michael became enraged and pointed to Dr Bowden as the man who had provided Donna's drug. Bowden cried out that he hadn't, Gomez had. Reginald was terribly distressed to think that trusty rusty Gomez would have done such a thing. Michael told him Gomez was in the country. Reginald announced his intention to question her. Gomez's arrival was heralded.
Ada got Mary to tell her what her hypothetical problem was. A hypothetical person needs help but is afraid of breaking the law. The young children are not to be burdened. The older ones have Responsibilities already. Ada suggested a mature, trustworthy, unflappable person. Such as herself.
MJ looked around at Tops [to see if she could see Chad, I guess] ostensibly looking for Felicia and Wallingford. Adam: why don't we go down to the bar and sit down and you can relax a little bit. MJ: I'm relaxed. Adam: then why is my arm in this vise grip? MJ: I'm sorry. I guess maybe I'm just trying to keep you from getting away. Adam: well, I don't think you have to worry about that. He kissed her. He ordered a beer. She ordered club soda. He promised her a wonderful night. Enter Chad, portent of doom. He said how nice to see her twice in one night.
Peter asked Sara what her connection with Michael was.
Gomez was invited in. Bowden threatened Reginald with the Photograph. Reginald ignored him to turn his basilisk stare on the conehead. Michael asked her if Reginald had told her directly or indirectly to feed the drugs to Donna. She remained silent. He decided to phone the police.
Ada told Mary she wondered how Vince was. Mary guessed that he wouldn't have any money or food. Ada took a handful of money out of the cash register.
Vince returned to his room. THE RÔLE OF VINCE MCKINNON IS NOW BEING PLAYED BY ROBERT HOGAN. He thought about telling MJ how wonderful she was.
Chad stood around being annoying and telling Adam that he and MJ had known each other in college and he was surprised that MJ hadn't told her boyfriends about him. Adam seemed a little jealous [of Jamie too because Chad had met him with MJ earlier on]. Chad wandered off having suggested lunch. Adam asked MJ if he was to get the full story out of her or out of him. MJ told him she'd gone out with Chad a long time ago and it had been a huge mistake. She admitted that Chad had been the reason she hadn't wanted to come to Tops and assured him he had no cause to be jealous of Chad or of Jamie. He said she should tell him things like there's a man named Chad who makes my skin crawl and he's likely to be at Tops. She agreed she should even if he was cute when jealous. He said he didn't want her to worry and he could take care of Chad if she so desired but she said she didn't. They got up to dance. Adam suggested they skip dinner and go home. She agreed. Kissing. His beeper went off. Chad strolled up and told her Adam wasn't so hot. He wondered idly what would happen if Adam knew the Truth about them. Adam collected her to rush off to Michael's aid.
Peter pestered Sara. Mitch intervened.
Ada made Mary take the money.
A woman banged on Vince's door.
Gomez refused to say anything to Michael. Reginald demanded the truth. Gomez admitted she'd given the drug to Donna as a means of stopping her wedding because she thought that was what he'd want. She insisted it had been her own idea. Reginald chastised her quite violently. Michael became incensed. Adam and MJ arrived and offered to take Bowden and Gomez for questioning. They couldn't arrest Reginald. Michael got upset.
Mary agreed to take the money to Vince.
The landlady demanded Vince's rent on time. Reginald now owns the building.
Adam tried to keep Michael calm. Reginald shed a silent tear for his poor nutty Donna. Michael said, "if I didn't know better, Reg, I'd almost think you cared."
