Jake's been waiting a long time for something.

Cass is trying to talk his way around a creditor. Kathleen appeared at his door. To see Dee. A lot of awkward silences. Dee brought her something. Cass told her Dee was at the Royer interview and she was welcome to wait. She said she would. He asked about her job and family. He wanted her to wait. Mrs. Jones came in. Kathleen left. Mrs. Jones asked about her. Business associates said Cass. Uster be. Friend of Dee's.

Nancy doesn't seem to be faring terribly well. Mrs. Royer advised her not to marry beneath her and come to grief. Her goals: go to college. Have a career. Marry Mr. Right. Dee's goals: important though college is she intends to serve humanity. Do charity work. Other debs [Babs Thornton. Muffy Simington. Marley Love.]

Victoria*: I've been waiting a long time for this too. Jake: why didn't you come to me before? Victoria: I'm here now. That is all that matters. Jake: you're beautiful. Victoria: I want you Jake. Jake: I've been going crazy thinking about this. Victoria: Good. (Kissing.) Jake: where are you going? Victoria: I want this to be perfect. (She put on music.) There.

Peter called the hospital and was told Britt had been released. He's mad. They won't tell him where they've gone. No one will tell him where Liz is either. Kathleen came in and had to listen to his paranoid ravings on the subject for a while. She asked why Liz was a priority and Who Zane and Brittany were. He told her Brittany was one of Catlin's wives and Zane was her-friend. Catlin is a bigamist. Kathleen didn't believe that but he told her all about Evan and the drowning. That poor woman said Kathleen. Poor Sally said Peter. He said she had to know the truth.

Zane assured Britt he'd keep calling Aunt Liz. She's upset. Wallingford arrived. He knows Zane. They greeted each other.

Mrs. Royer and Dee are getting along swimmingly. Nancy's family is coming under scrutiny and suffering. Her father was a policeman. The interview is over. Dee thanked Nancy for not squealing about her uncle. Nancy is depressed.

Mrs. Jones wants Cass to be Dee's escort. Cass is averse. He proposed alternatives. She said he ought to see it through. He said he was too old. She asked it as a favour to herself. He gave in.

Zane introduced Wallingford to Brittany. They knew each other in Providence and Halifax. Good enough friends to insult each other chummily. He told Wallingford Brittany was looking for Catlin Ewing.

Jake: I haven't felt this sane in a long time. Victoria: sure? Want me to keep working on you? Jake: you took a big risk coming here. Victoria: I couldn't wait any longer. You're not upset with me, are you? Jake: how could I be upset with you? I just don't want to blow it, that's all. Victoria: we won't. Jake: you better get going. Victoria: Right now? Jake: maybe not just this minute. rustling.

Marley came back to Smiley's for her purse. Donna wants Jake to do some work. He's upstairs. She'll go ask him. Maisie asked her to ask his help with some boxes. Marley said she'd do it.

Victoria wants to know all about Marley. Jake showed her a videotape. You look like you've seen a ghost he said. Not a ghost. My sister she said.

Nancy's depressed. Dee's not. Mrs. Royer returned and said they were both lovely. congratulations Nancy. Nancy flipped out and thanked her. Mrs. Royer calmed her down and said she was their alternate. Like an understudy. Dee was very pleased. She said it was fabulous. Mrs. Royer left. Dee tried to comfort Nancy. Dee left.

Peter and Kathleen working. He asked if she'd been trying to make Cass jealous because of Dee. She told him to drop it. Donna called. He'll let her know about Sally. Kathleen asked him about Sally. She accused him of wanting her back. He said she was a friend and he wanted her to know the truth. Before she got hurt any further.

Catlin and Brittany exclaimed Wallingford incredulously. That's some story, Zane. He asked what would happen when they found Catlin. Zane said it would be between Catlin and Brittany. He pointed out they're still married according to the law. Wallingford sounds like he's reluctant to ruin Sally's life. He said he didn't know them very well. They begged him to help them find Catlin. He [Wally] said Sally and Catlin had saved his life and they loved each other and he didn't want anybody to get hurt. Zane said Britt had been and she and Catlin had loved each other once. Wallingford told them they could find Larry at the police station. He didn't like to though. Britt got upset when Wally said Catlin and Sally loved each other. He apologized and said he hoped everything would work out for everybody.

Nancy bitched to Perry about loan sharks' nieces. Perry was fair and consoled her. He said cotillions and debs were boring. He'd rather spend a romantic evening for two with her.

Everyone is thrilled Dee made it. Mrs. Jones and Cass. Cass demanded a hug. Mrs. Jones is crying. They'll celebrate. Dee told them about the interview. Everyone's happy. Cass went out. He wants to share this with someone. Back soon.

Cass called to talk to Kathleen in Peter's office. He told her all about Dee's success. They're happy. He said he couldn't have done it without her. He said he thought it important she know how he felt. Another call came through on Peter's phone so she had to go. What she didn't know was he was in the Cory lobby for after she rang off he decided not to go through the big doors.

Victoria has to leave. She made him promise they'd be together soon. She went to the door.

Marley came to the door on the other side.
