Cass gave Dee some last-minute tips for the Royer interview. Her grandmother arrived.
Bridget sewed something so that even Marley couldn't tell the difference. She just hopes she isn't frightened.
A voice called "Marley. Marley" from the closet. Accompanied by strange otherworldly music. "Come to me, Marley. Come to me." Marley breathed strangely and said "No" rather a lot. "Come join me. Come to me. Come join me." Donna came in and Marley woke up whimpering. Donna comforted her.
Mrs. Jones likes Cass. She says Dee is even more beautiful than she remembered. She doesn't seem terribly fond of Tony. He keeps answering for Dee. Mrs. Jones intends to be in town for a while. Staying at the Lakeside Plaza. She packed Cass and Tony off so she could talk to Dee. She keeps Tony in very good line. Dee loves her grandmother. She asked about Mrs. Royer. It seems only 10 girls can debut and an 11th just came in from Europe and she's definitely in. So one girl must go. Mrs. Jones is convinced Dee will manage it.
Nancy is on the phone to Mrs. Royer. She wants to talk to Rachel. She wants her to come to the interview. Nancy doesn't want her to. Rachel went to change. Nancy begged Ada to stop Rachel. She thinks Rachel will botch everything. Dress wrong. Say the wrong thing. Ada told her Rachel was having a tough time and she was a priority over the cotillion.
Marley is crying. She said she's been having the dream since Donna went away to Chicago. Always the same. "But this time I opened the door and there was a mirror and I saw myself in it but I didn't look the same at all I looked really unhappy and angry and then this hand it reached out and it grabbed me and it pulled me. "She fell to bits. Donna comforted her further. She feels responsible for her. Donna threw away Bridget's tea. She didn't think it would help. Bridget called and said she had something to bring over.
Tom talked to Quinn about Carter's shoving food at her all the time. She thinks he's working too hard. Carter got home. They change the baby's gender every week (Carter's explanation: one week he is a her, and one week he's a him, and one week he's a her ...) Quinn produced a check for them. $1,000. Carter told Tom to give it back. Violently.
Rachel is dressed to Ada's satisfaction. Ada in spite of what she told Nancy suggested it could be a big bore. Rachel wants to do what she can to help Nancy though. She asked if she and Nancy always got along. Ada said yes-no-yes-no. They were alike and both stubborn. Rachel was surprised to hear that but she wants to help Nancy and make up for her misspent youth to Ada.
Nancy is confiding her murderous instincts ("I could just strangle Rachel") to Jake. She and Dee are meeting Mrs. Royer together. Jake thinks Nancy will manage it. Perry came in and didn't look too thrilled to see Nancy talking to Jake. Jake told Perry he'd been telling Nancy it was in the bag "Who could turn Nancy down for anything?" Rachel called to tell her about Muffy the XI. Nancy purposely neglected to correct Rachel's impression that the meeting was to be at Mrs. Royer's.
Carter told Quinn they didn't need anyone's help. He went to take a nap before work. Quinn told Tom to take the cheque. Tom said she couldn't. Quinn told her to take it and put it in the bank herself. Tom said she couldn't because it would be behind Carter's back. Quinn left the cheque and told her to think about it.
Jake asked Marley if anything were wrong. He offered his bed during her break. She declined. He said she should come up and they would talk about her dreams.
Perry doesn't like Jake Ben's cousin being so very friendly to Marley Ben's girl. Neither does he like Nancy his girl defending Jake's peculiarities. He doesn't like much about Jake. She suspects Dee of having her uncle threaten Mrs. Royer to guarantee admittance. Perry encouraged her. Marley likewise. And Jake. He's going to jog. He told Maisie she should jog. 'Tis fun. She told him she did 30 no make that 40 miles per day waitressing and her idea of fun had nothing to do with standing up. (HA. PREDATORY INSTINCT ONCE AGAIN.) Oh really said Jake (no doubt quirking an eyebrow or two). Perry asked Marley if Jake had been bothering her. He wants her to tell him if he does.
Bridget knocked on the Loves' door. "Oh Marley. Have I got a surprise for you. "
Mrs. Jones says Cass is charming. And handsome and debonair.
Bridget hinted so hard that Donna decided to hire her permanently for room and board to sort of do everything.
Perry went up to Jake's room. "What are you up to, Jake?"
Cass returned. Mrs. Jones went to freshen up. Dee is nervous about the Royer meeting. Cass kissed her on the cheek and said it would be all right.
Perry accused Jake of coming on to Marley and every other girl he meets. Jake said he was a friendly guy. Perry said Marley was a nice kid and he was to leave her alone. Hands off Marley. Jake said if Marley didn't want him around she'd tell him and if he wanted to come on to everyone he would in spite of Perry's threats.
Carter was mad to see the cheque when he woke up. He yelled at Tom. Tom said Quinn just wanted to help them. Carter said Quinn just wanted to keep her under her thumb. Tom denied it. He left mad.
Ada and Quinn discussed Rachel's amnesia. Rachel appeared. Ada introduced her and said they were partners in a successful construction company left her by Steve. Rachel had to leave for the Royer interview. She'll see Quinn later.
Jake enthused about running into Marley. Managed to involve showering together. Perry claimed Marley's attention elsewhere. Jake went to shower. Marley dropped her tray and asked for the rest of the day off to rest.
Nancy and Dee are nervous together but Nancy won't admit it. She asked about Dee's uncle. "I just thought it might prove sort of a problem if Mrs. Royer were to find out who your uncle really is." Yeah? It could also prove a problem if I were to break your face."*
Jake returned to his room. Began to take off his sweat shirt. A female resembling Marley appeared. PsMarley: It's about time. Jake: What are you doing here? PsMarley: What do you think I'm doing here? She kissed him a lot. Very thoroughly. Unlike the Marley we know.
