Rachel told Amanda her article had exceeded her expectations.
A couple of guys delivered Nicole's bed. John was puzzled because he'd seen a bed delivered earlier. Nicole very firmly told him he must have been mistaken.
Cass paid his delivery men. Felicia showed him something in the paper. Enter That Old Carrot. Cass demanded if Nicole knew. That Old Carrot snubbed him and demanded a table of Felicia. She was ungracious. He refused to speak to Jason.
Cheryl told Vince he'd have to fire her to get rid of her. Scott and Dawn are going to see Fantasia. Sam concealed his book from Cheryl's interested eyes.
Rachel told Amanda that a mother was more useful than a book on raising children. Jamie never conformed. Rachel assured her that the pain of labour was worth it, or if not exactly worth it, forgotten and forgiven once the baby is born. Amanda read about careers and children and imagined trying to work and stop a baby crying at the same time. She flung the book from her.
Cheryl served Sam and told him she loved Brava's new cover. [When has she seen it? She wasn't at the party, and it's not going to be implemented until March.] Enter Julie Ann. Sam covered his book and said he hadn't decided about Paris. Cheryl told Julie Ann Sam seemed worried about something. Julie Ann let it slip about the baby. Dawn met Scott. They hastened to the theatre. Mary sighed.
Nicole had tea with John. Cass stomped in and showed her the paper. She was appalled. The society page says that That Old Carrot will be throwing a big party in Monte Carlo to celebrate Nicole's show. Cass was relieved to hear Nicole hadn't known about it. Nicole was annoyed that it had crossed his mind she had known. She decided to have it out with That Old Carrot. She refused Cass' help. John offered her a ride.
Mary tried to avoid Jason. He told her he'd taught her to ride. She was surprised. Cheryl was astonished about Sam and Amanda. Sam read about the joys of being a father and imagined cuddling a baby.
Mitch had flowers delivered to Felicia. A couple of guys told That Old Carrot they didn't want to be best friends any more. Nicole stomped in. That Old Carrot did not appreciate it at all. She forbade him to throw the party. He said he loved her. She said she knew what he was up to and he couldn't have her company. She fled. That Old Carrot's best friends took their toys and went home. That Old Carrot told his assistant to have Nicole's house sabotaged.
Mary decided she didn't want to discuss stuff she couldn't remember. [There is apparently something disgraceful about singing in elevators. I had better cut it out. [I only do it when I'm the sole passenger. Am I forgiven?]] Jason told her he liked her. She said he insisted on reminding her of the pain That Old Carrot had caused her family. Jason left. Vince asked Mary out to dinner. She accepted nicely. Cheryl gave Sam his bill and expressed general concern. He said he couldn't talk about it. She admitted she knew. He deduced Julie Ann had told her. She told him not to be mad at her. She offered to talk about kids with him. She babysits and there was Becky. His eyes lit up and he talked about things he'd like to do with his child. The sort of things a person can't do in Paris, or rather from Paris.
Amanda continued to imagine [in B&W] trying to soothe a baby and wear glasses at the same time; When Sam came home from work it went to colour and the baby stopped crying. Ugh. Julie Ann phoned and suggested they eat at Mary's Place and go see a movie. Amanda refused. Julie Ann overruled her and said she'd rent a movie on her way over.
Julie Ann overheard Sam telling Cheryl it would be too hard to leave his baby.
Fantasia ended. Dawn had fallen asleep. She felt unwell. Scott agreed she felt feverish. He said he'd take her home.
That Old Carrot watched Vince and Mary dine. Mary realized they were playing "Waverly Place." Vince told her Scott's wonderfulness was due to her. Mary called him a silver-tongued devil. Jason attacked That Old Carrot. He mentioned he had a funny little bee in his bonnet about That Night. That Old Carrot assured him neither of them would ever mention [it] again.
Nicole undressed and chatted with Donna on the phone. She went to take a shower and found Cass shaving.
Julie Ann arrived at the Romance and told Amanda she was willing to bet Sam would stay in Bay City.
As soon as Sam decided he would stay, he was set upon by a pair of guys and lifted from his chair. Cheryl was alarmed until he fell on their necks and introduced them as his best friends from Seattle, Kurt Hager and Jim McVeigh. They admired Cheryl and told Sam they were staying at his place. Sam returned Cheryl her book.
Nicole told Cass he didn't have she didn't have to tell him everything she intended to do. [Baby, if it involves the business in any way I think you should.] She insisted on being allowed to shower first.
A set of mysterious feet let itself in and lit a cigarette.
Mary and Vince had a good time. Jason made blackmailing noises.
Cass smelled smoke.
