ANOTHER WORLD DAILY SYNOPSIS.

August 11, 1987

Mitch peeled back the covers. Felicia asked what a naked man was doing in his bed. Mitch said he didn't know. Felicia shook him.

MJ gave her confession a big build-up.

Donna played with the wind chimes. John stared. She turned and, seeing him, asked what he wanted. Her expression struck me as not defensive enough. She covered up. He asked for the ice from her lemonade. She gave him her glass and talked about Michael. He drank from her glass and returned it. He said he was going out. She declared she didn't care whether he went. He left. She phoned Michael.

Mitch woke the man. They exchanged insults. Felicia turned away so he could dress. Mitch introduced Felicia to his brother Sam.

Vince told MJ she was too hard on herself. She told him when she was eighteen she had gone to Chicago to sing. He didn't know because he'd been in West Virginia. (Shouldn't Kathleen have been in New York? Who was minding Ben?) She said she'd thought she could date connections. Vince yelled at her for calling herself a whore but she stuck to her guns. He refused to believe it. Mary made him stop shaking her. Vince said it was a lie. She told him about the tape. He insisted it was a lie. She said she wasn't good enough to marry Adam, or be on the force, or be his daughter. Then she burst into tears. She told him if he didn't believe her he could ask Adam. He said he was going to get to the bottom of this and left. Mary comforted MJ.

Michael wasn't in. Donna was annoyed. She imagined that John had come back and asked for her ice again. He fished it out with his fingers. She turned away. He held it to her neck. She looked thrilled. Then she came to herself and threw the glass from her, horrified at such an imagining.

Sam Fowler, half brother. He left Seattle because of creative differences with his employer. He returned Mitch his money. Felicia ordered dinner. Matthew phoned with a dancing nightmare to relate. Mitch told him there were plenty of fish in the sea and Suzy Strathmore didn't have to be the only one. Felicia did not like his philosophy. He explained that he thought Matthew was too young to get worked up about one girl. Felicia was not appeased. Sam came back and they ate. Sam would like to be a painter, but he can't make any money on it. So he works doing advertising layouts in magazines. Felicia hung on his every word.

Vince ran into Reginald in Tops. Reginald taunted him with the fact that his arrangement with Mary was temporary. Vince said it was more permanent than he might imagine. Reginald prepared to defend Mary's honour. Vince slugged him. Adam came flying to break it up. Reginald demanded that Adam arrest Vince. Adam threw him out and told Vince to behave himself. Vince demanded to know what he'd done to MJ.

Donna lay out on the beach. John limped over. She sat up, startled. She told him she didn't want any company. He said he'd been there first. She said it was her beach. He said it was un-American to own a beach. He lay down. She strongly suggested he leave.

Vince and Adam went out on the terrace. Adam realised that MJ must have told Vince about the prostitution. Vince said he had to hear him say it wasn't true. Adam said he couldn't. Vince said MJ was so crazy with grief because of Adam she didn't know what she was doing. Adam described the incriminating tape. Vince suggested that the tape was altered or MJ had been forced or something. Adam said MJ said not. He wrung his hands and explained he couldn't have married MJ because she'd waited so long to tell him. He said he still loved her but he couldn't trust her. Vince was silent. Adam told him he had to love MJ too and not fail her. Vince walked away.

Sam doesn't like playing the field. Felicia made him describe his ideal woman. Mature and independent and straightforward, sounds like. (No women like that in Bay City any more. Move on.) Felicia was pleased.

Vince returned to Mary's Place and asked MJ who had caused the prostitution. She said no one. He said he'd have the creep arrested and drawn and quartered and stomped on with hobnailed boots and stuff. She told him he had to accept that she was to blame. She declared herself a disgrace and fled.

John was obnoxious. She dragged him up to dance to prove she wasn't afraid of him. She looked him full in the face as they danced. It was stupid. She began putting her face very close to his chest before she caught herself. When she looked up again he moved to kiss her but she pulled away. Pictures are being snapped. He determined that she was indeed frightened. She snatched up her towel and stomped out. He looked confident that he had accomplished something.

Mary told Vince that he had to accept what MJ had done. She begged him not to make it harder for MJ. She said they had to forgive her. She left him alone.

Sam keeps calling Mitch stoneface. Mitch gave him money to go to a boarding house. Sam left to investigate Bay City's nightlife. Felicia called Mitch on his attitude toward women. He said he adored all women but there was a special one. She fell into his arms.

Donna phoned Michael but he wasn't in. She decided to show up and surprise him. John heard from the door and said Philadelphia was the city of brotherly love. Donna looked chagrined.
