Donna tried to convince Michael to let John sleep. Michael knocked on his door anyway. The doctor's coming. John said tough luck.
Jamie was unable to find anything out from any of Gollum's patients. Rachel and Mac have all of Brava looking for Warren. Felicia wants to tear Gollum limb from limb.
Gollum woke Lisa for her wedding day. He said he couldn't untie her because she'd tried to run away. She said gently she was sorry, she had been frightened, but the rope was hurting her skin. Gollum said he wanted only to make her happy and untied her. She asked if he'd let her talk to Jamie, just for a minute. This was a Bad Move, as no bridegroom wants his bride asking to chat with other men on their wedding day. He said Jamie was dead and he'd killed him. Lisa reeled. Gollum got cross. Lisa tried to pull herself together to appease him. She asked if Felicia could come and attend the wedding. He said the phone was disconnected. The minister is on his way. He told her to put on the dress.
Mitch tried to calm Felicia. She fussed about the incompetent police and said she had to go talk to the police. Rachel and Mitch said they'd go with her.
Michael said he wanted to see John able to take care of himself. Dr Campbell arrived. Michael left him with John. Michael sees John's contrariness for what it is.
Adam tried to reassure Jamie. He told Captain Delaney that Warren Benton Steele had protested the war by rejecting his American citizenship and moving to Canada. He's a recluse. They're looking for mother. Felicia arrived. Jamie found out that she had been close to her brother but not Lisa's mother. She thought Louise's lawyer might know about the honeymoon warren. Felicia asked Jamie to appear on her show and help appeal to Gollum on a professional level. [Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.] Jamie agreed.
Gollum has a couple more surprises. He was enraptured to see Lisa in the dress. He helped do up the buttons she couldn't reach. She tried to stall him subtly [by] getting him to light candles and provide a bouquet and things. Organ music.
Michael explained his tactics to Donna. He figures anger is better than self-pity. John thrives on opposition. Donna gets to be the good cop. Dr Campbell stomped out and said John was uncooperative. He instructed Michael to make sure John got plenty of bed rest and no alcohol. Michael went to see about helping with Lisa. The doctor left. Donna heard thrashing around and went to help John. He said she was awfully tense and asked if she were afraid of him. She said she'd been upset lately. She said she was trying to make this work for Michael's sake. She stomped out. He regretted it.
That Old Carrot found Donna and said they all had to pull together in times of crisis. He was at pains to point out that Gollum was likely to tell the whole world her secrets.
Let the games begin. Dr Glaser began the vows he'd written himself, all about marriage being a reward for clean minds and pure bodies and the fact that he would never commit adultery as defined by the Pope. [He did not drag the Pope into it, I did.] He gave Lisa her vows to read. She read them in a failing voice. He had to do it for her. She had to promise never to be wicked and always to obey him and love him and never be unfaithful to him. She hesitated at the last one. The mythical minister pronounced them man and wife. Gollum [to the accompaniment of music from outer space] moved in to kiss the bride. She probably flinched. He said she was shy. She screamed to Jamie for help. He yelled at her for breaking her vows. He calmed down and said it was time for the reception. She fell silent. He started up the gramophone and said they were to dance. Oh, it was a radio. Storm warnings kept interrupting. Gollum ignored them.
Felicia pled with Adam for permission for the appeal. Captain Delaney dashed in and said that Mother had disappeared two years before. Jamie said she had to be somewhere because Lisa had said Gollum was taking his orders from her. The Canadian police sent Warren Benton Steele's Vancouver phone number. Adam phoned and introduced himself as direct Detective Sergeant Adam Cory from Illinois. Warren hung up. Rachel said he'd always had a problem with authority. [oh.] she phoned, because she is not authoritative. Adam gave Felicia permission. Warren said he would fly in right away to identify the cottage.
That Old Carrot told Donna that there would be an investigation into Dr Glaser's motives in attacking her. She said there wouldn't. He told her John's presence in her house would upset her carefully structured house of cards. She said John wouldn't say anything. He told her not to count on it. John appeared. Donna made him put his arm around her shoulders so she could guide him. That Old Carrot made noises about what a picture it would be for the family album. Donna ignored him. That Old Carrot said things that were obviously intended as subtle digs. On his way out he whispered to Donna that with her and John in the house alone history would soon repeat itself. Michael returned and sped him on his away. John found his way out of the room himself, making a speech about his wonderful independence. Michael had been hovering.
Felicia and Jamie got ready to go on the air. They came through on Gollum's radio. Felicia asked Gollum not to hurt Lisa because she loved her. Gollum asked scornfully what a creature like that knew about love. When Jamie came on the air Lisa was unable to control herself and rejoiced openly. Gollum freaked out. Meanwhile Jamie "appealed to Dr Glaser on a professional level" by pointing out that it was the duty of doctors to save lives, and not to take them. Oh, that's brilliant. Gollum simply smashed the radio. Jamie finished up by saying they would find him and they all loved Lisa. Gollum and Lisa struggled. I think she managed to run away.
Donna takes her father seriously. She's terribly stupid.
Felicia pled a last plea and broke down. Jamie comforted her. Adam told them he didn't think the broadcast would have angered Gollum in any way.
Lisa stumbled through the woodsy bit. Gollum yelled after her a lot.
Why does Jamie think that Mother must be somewhere? Didn't Adam deduce that Mother was operating internally?

... mothers play ... an important role in a child's early development. By answering the most perplexing questions of the universe ["how do people in tollbooths go to the bathroom?" uppermost among them], mom's voice becomes assimilated into the brain of the child, is assigned a series of cerebral call letters, and becomes, in effect, "Radio Mom."
