MJ dreamt. MJ: it's so good with you, Adam. [Passionate kisses throughout] Adam: I love you. I love you. MJ: I never felt so loved, so right about love. Adam: you're the best, baby. [The man MJ was kissing turned out to be Chad.] MJ: NO. STOP IT. [Mocking laughter filled the air.]
Felicia offered Chad the job. He accepted and left.
Michael sought out Sara, a certain urgency in his voice.
Mary found Scott and Cheryl kissing. Cheryl became defensive.
Adam woke MJ up and asked what was wrong. There was a knock at the door. MJ, still a little hysterical, said, "no, tell him to go away. I HATE HIM." Adam was concerned. MJ recollected where she was and went into the other room when he asked who she was afraid of. He answered the door. It was Jamie asking for help for Michael.
Michael warned Sara it was a dangerous assignment. He wants her to find Dr Bowden. She has to stake out the post office. He gave her a photograph of the bearer in question. She went to change. He ran into Nicole.
Mary advised Cheryl to think about Vince's feelings a little. Cheryl yelled at her about New Year's Eve. She railed against Reginald. He came into the kitchen. She ordered him out. When Scott and Mary tried to make her see their side she fled. Scott pursued her.
Nicole's feelings for her father have always been mixed. [she said that was why she'd gone to live in Europe, but he'd been dead for so long and she did live in Bay City for awhile. I don't think that makes sense.] He told her he liked Scott because he kind of reminded him of himself at that age but Scott didn't like him. She told him not to worry about anyone other than Donna. He told her his Bowden plan.
Felicia was overcome with curiosity about why Michael needed Sara. Mitch wasn't.
Jamie: well, can't you bring Bowden in? I mean, can't the police get to him before Michael does? Adam: look, I can't issue a warrant for this guy the guy. Jamie: WHY NOT? Adam: BECAUSE. I don't have any evidence on him. Look, his apartment was vandalized, the man is missing, and no one even bothered to file a missing persons report on him. Jamie: well if his apartment was vandalized and he's disappeared wouldn't that make for suspicion of foul play, huh? Adam: look, I SAID I'LL CHECK INTO IT, JAMIE. EVERYBODY'S A COP. Jamie: ho ho. Well, looks like this cop found a clue. [It was some sort of feminine intimate apparel, I think. I don't really recall.] Now I know why you were still in bed. Sorry, pal. I'll get going. Adam: no, it's OK, it's all right. We're all big boys and girls here. MJ, come on out. Jamie: no, I think I'd better leave anyway. [MJ came out in uniform.] MJ: hi, Jamie. Jamie: hi. I was just leaving. MJ: no no no that's OK, I have to go to work anyway. Adam, have you seen my jacket? Thank you. [Awkward silence.] Adam: well. Would somebody like some coffee? MJ: not for me, thanks. I've got to get going. Jamie: now wait a minute, wait a minute. This is really silly. I mean, it's like Adam said. We're all grown up, and and and and I don't want you guys to feel all uptight about this. Adam: we're not uptight. Jamie: GOOD. Because I know how close you two were getting and and and and it's the most natural thing in the world, right? Adam: sure. MJ: right. Jamie: and you have my blessing. [Pause no, that sounds rather pompous, doesn't it? I mean I approve of what — no, that's even worse. The thing is, coz*, I make an excellent best man, I've got that routine down pat, I really do, I do, so, remember that, in case you ever need one. and, um, and, goodbye. [Exit Jamie.] Adam: I'm sorry. MJ: 's all right. It wasn't your fault. Adam: no, I'm sorry. I should have gotten rid of him right away. MJ: I said it's OK. Forget it. Adam: yeah, well. MJ: I'm sorry. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to snap at you. Come here. Adam: it's OK. It's OK. MJ: I guess I'm still just on edge from that nightmare. Adam: yeah, what was that all about, huh? MJ: it must have been a hangover from the mugging, I guess. Adam: it's too bad you didn't get a good look at that guy. MJ: ADAM. IT'S OVER. I'm not hurt, I'm just a little shook up. AND if I don't get to work right now I'm going to be in big trouble. Adam: don't forget our date tonight. I thought maybe we could go try out Felicia's new restaurant. MJ: great. I'll meet you there. Adam: and — maybe you'd think about what Jamie was talking about. MJ: oh. Yeah. Right. I'll think about it on my coffee break. Adam: you know, when Vince gets back we're not going to be able to do this without benefit of clergy. MJ: so we won't tell him. Adam: what if he finds out? I don't want to wind up in the same jam that Cass was in. MJ: Adam, I have got to go to work. goodbye. [The phone rang.] Adam: wait, wait. Maybe that Samuels. He's going to give you the day off. Hang on. It was Chad impersonating her insurance agent. MJ said to tell him she'd call from the office.
Mitch showed Matthew around Tops.
Adam found Michael in Tops and yelled at him for looking for Bowden. Michael told him he'd hired a detective. Adam asked who.
Sara saw a clean-shaven man pick up a package for Bowden.
Scott and Cheryl argued about Reginald. He said his parents were in love and there was no proof Reginald had done anything. Reginald appeared to confess to something.
Mary told MJ she wanted to get to know Adam better. MJ asked if they could talk later. She phoned Chad to tell him never to call her anywhere. She threatened him. Jamie overheard and she pretended to have been talking to Samuels. He apologized for his bad timing. She assured him her foul mood was not his fault. She snapped at him when he suggested that they might someday be related by marriage. [not that he and Adam are related by ties of blood.] He asked if she really loved Adam. She said she did. He said he would always be her friend and he'd kill him if he ever made her unhappy.
Michael told Adam he had people looking for Gomez. Adam said he couldn't believe that a father would feed his daughter a mind-altering drug. Michael assured him Reginald had never been very fatherly. Adam told him to stay out of it and return his detective to store.
Sara tried to phone Michael but she had to drop the phone to follow Bowden.
Reginald told Cheryl he loved Mary and reminded her that people were against her and Scott in the same way. Scott took his side.
Mitch told Matthew that he and Rachel weren't going to see each other any more. Matthew was disappointed. He asked Mitch if he still loved Rachel. Mitch said they didn't belong together right now and changed the subject. Matthew asked if he were going to start dating Felicia. Mitch said there was no finer woman than Felicia.
Jamie asked Nicole if she were free some evening. She admitted she wasn't seeing anybody but agreed to dinner. [Just dinner.] She threw him out so she could rehearse. He went and talked to Michael. Michael said he wanted to find Bowden to identify the drug to effect a cure. Jamie warned him there might not be an antidote. Donna is doing so badly she can't have any visitors at all.
Sara followed Dr. Bowden to Mary's Place.
Cheryl apologized to Mary. Mary said they both had to consider their family. Cheryl and Scott made-up.
Mary asked Reginald what he'd said to Cheryl.
MJ went to Tops to wait for Adam. Chad slithered up to her.
Felicia told Matthew that it took people a while to open up to each other.
Sara phoned Michael. He told her to do anything to stall Bowden and keep him there.
MJ tried to get rid of Chad. She told him that she had a date. He said he'd like to meet him. Jamie joined them and asked MJ if she was going to perform the introductions.
