ANOTHER WORLD DAILY SYNOPSIS.

April 8, 1985

Zane told Brittany there was still time. He went to look up churches in the phone book and started calling and asking if they had weddings. She sat down at the table and found an invitation to the wedding giving the place and time. She threw it down and dashed out into the storm.

Further ceremony. The reverend assured us that Kevin approved fully. They wrote their own intensely personal vows. Catlin: I love you. And I want to spend my life with you. That's the most important thing to me. To be able to spend my life with you no matter what.

Zane picked up the invitation and pursued Brittany.

And I promise to protect you. And to protect our family. Most important to be the best husband I possibly can. Sally: No one has ever done for me the things that you have. No one has ever cared about me the way you do. We've had our trials and there've been times when I thought you were crazy to stay with me. But when I thought about writing these vows I realised that these aren't the first things that come to mind when I think about you. You give of yourself. It's as if you see my needs as more important than your own. I don't have to vow to be with you in sickness and health or for richer for poorer. I just want to. I do vow to try to give of myself the way you do. I love you, Catlin and you make me love the life around me. (Catlin Ewing do you take Sally Frame to be your lawfully wedded wife?) YES. YES, I do.

Brittany and Zane in the car. He's rebuking her for taking off. She's thinking about Josh saying "I do. I do." Overnover. He assured her they'd make it. "Those things never start on time anyway. She's thinking about Josh seeing her and Evan off. She's frightened of the ship. It seems like they are to be with him again in 5 days. He's reassuring her.

Kathleen's at the Northwoods Inn where the reception is to take place. She's musing on Sally's vows. The "give of myself" bit. Jamie came in. He asked if anything were wrong. She said she left so's not to cry. She talked about Cass and said neither of them were very giving people. She said sometimes Cass really came through. Jamie offered to take her home but she said she'd stay and dance at the wedding. They returned to the chapel. We're blessing the rings. Symbol of the undying love shared by Sally & Catlin. "With this ring I pledge to you my eternal love." "Ditto." They shoved the rings on each other's fingers. They were pronounced man and wife. Catlin was given the go-ahead to kiss the bride and he did so rather more thoroughly than even Carter (who if you recall was responsible for "a heck of a lot of kissing the bride.") They walked up the aisle and kissed again at the end and laughed and were joined by Kevin. Everyone applauded.

Brittany thought about being on the ship in the storm. She thrashed about a good deal.

The reception. Catlin and Sally and Kevin arrived and were pelted with rice. Larry proposed a toast. "To the prettiest bride I've seen since I got married." (Cheers.) "And to the luckiest guy I know. May they always be as happy as they are right now. And give Sally lots of patience, 'cause she's going to need it." Alice proposed a toast. "To Catlin. Thank you for making my little girl so happy." Catlin assured her it was his pleasure. He had Kevin propose a toast "to the lady of the house." Larry said "Now for the dancing." They discovered there was no power so Perry and Maisie instructed them to open the gift from the gang at Smiley's -- a little bitty stereo cassette type thingy and a bunch of tapes. They put one on and lo and behold! The First song was "When". (Catlin & Sally's theme. It had a curious feeling of being like a regular cast party for a bit.) They danced. Everyone applauded. They too were encouraged to dance. Rachel commented they looked so happy. Ada told her they'd been through a lot to get there. Mac said Liz looked worried. She's been guarding doors throughout both ceremony and reception. Ada says Liz enjoys worrying. Jamie and Kathleen came up. Rachel mistook her for MJ. No big deal said Jamie. Rachel went out for air. Nancy's worried about her. "Everything's so WEIRD." She's dancing with Perry. She asked him to be her escort at the cotillion. Mac told Alice her daughter was "so beautiful." They talked about Rachel a bit. It makes him angry that Rachel can't remember. Alice is wondering about Aunt Liz. Mac followed Rachel into the chapel. She said she needed time alone. He said he understood. She suggested they sit in there together for a while. Sally's dancing with Catlin. Ada came up and bashed her and bade her scoot so she could dance with him. Clarice feels sorry for MJ. Larry doesn't. Callous man. They discussed with Jamie and Kathleen the practice of putting wedding cake under one's pillow in order to dream of one's future husband. Kathleen did it once. She dreamed of Ralph Kramden. Never again.) And their wedding. Clarice and Larry got up to dance. Kathleen spoke to Jamie in a very strange voice (trying to keep a "stiff upper lip") and instructed him to tell MJ she was all right. Catlin sat on the sidelines with Ada and said she was "a peach of a dancer" and thanked her for all she'd done for him. She pointed out that most of Bay City came under the heading "folk who have saved Catlin's life." Ada: What are we going to do for excitement now that you're an old married man.? Catlin: I DON'T CARE. (I liked the way he said that.) I'm looking forward to a lot of dullness. Ada: Well don't count on it. Things are going to happen to you. You're that kind of man. Catlin: Well all I want to happen is (pause for effect) a couple of kids. (He seems to've been plotting this depuis longtemps. I find it borders on the insane.) He informed her the girl's name would be Ada. Not even in jest, said she. She does not want to be held responsible for inflicting such a name on a child. He protested. (Isn't there going to be a little difficulty? Sally promised Aunt Liz she'd call her first girl Elizabeth.) She was partly won over. Alice is worried about Liz. Sally dashed up and accused her of looking like a sentry. She encouraged her to join in the festivities. Aunt Liz suggested she get ready to leave but Sally said Catlin wouldn't stand for it. She was forced to come into the room.

A man informed Zane that the road was out and the water vair' deep. They have to go another way. Zane promised Britt they'd get there albeit a little later than they'd thought.

Catlin wants to dance with Aunt Liz. He's got Kevin on his shoulders. His manner was such that I found myself wondering whether he were just a little tipsy perhaps. Not just gaiety but, well, moderately drunken behaviour. He informed Aunt Liz that he'd married Sally only because of her. [I deemed this a dangerous move. I've seen her looking at him.] She said she'd talked to Sally. He accused her of not dancing with anyone. Kevin backed him up. She told him Sally was starting to get anxious. He accused her of trying to get rid of them. (He asked (in his peculiar slightly drunken fashion) if she were playing hard to get and she said she could never play hard to get with him.) She wants them to cut the cake. He says she's still trying to get rid of them. Mac's telling Rachel about one of their weddings. "I wish I'd been there," she said. She doesn't know who she is. She said she knew he was a good man and kind and she felt safe with him. They returned to the party. He went ahead. Sally and Catlin and Kevin cut the cake. Catlin fed a bit to Sally and she crammed some into his mouth and they both attacked Kevin. It's chocolate cake with white icing. Kevin said he liked Sally's cake better. Maisie talked to Catlin and told him even though he was an old married man he could count on her. They successfully (if inadvertently) managed to keep Jamie from getting his hands on any cake. Sally asked Kathleen about Cass. Kathleen was evasive. She wished them all happiness. Liz tried to convince Sally they should leave for their honeymoon. She doesn't yet know where she's going. She and Catlin are causing Aunt Liz chagrin by laughingly declaring their intention to dance the night away. Sally went to talk to Mac and Rachel and Ada. She brought up Stella and everything Rachel had done for her and Catlin. Liz wants Sally to throw the bouquet. She arranged all the single girls ("Anybody who's desperate I can aim for five dollars.") Larry: Where's Catlin? Sally pointed out that Catlin wasn't a single girl. He's having a talk with Kevin. Nancy caught it and threw rapturous fits. Ada begged the heavens not to let it mean anything. Catlin's talking to Kevin. He said he had a pretty good-looking family. He said he wished Kevin was his little boy. Kevin said that was all right but sometimes he missed his dad. Catlin said he loved him. They discussed little league. Catlin said he wasn't going to try to replace his dad. The reception is now over and everyone gone but Catlin and Sally. They put on some music ("Almost Paradise") and danced. We were treated to a montage of virtually every time he kissed her since the beginning of time. At Smiley's the first time he saw her and she didn't find him too thrilling. In the stables (and as I recall she displayed very little annoyance for someone else's fiancée. In fact she kissed right back). Out back at Smiley's sitting on the hood of a car. In Majorca stealing suitcases. When she found out he was alive. Catlin with vast quantities of whipped cream in his beard. She asked where they were going for their honeymoon. He (after being slightly tiresome) said he thought it was time they went to find out. They went out one door and Aunt Liz came in the other and looked satisfied.

Mac went to bed in the guest room.

The reverend found Liz absconding with roses to press. Zane and Britt arrived. Liz told them spitefully they were too late. She said they were married now and forever. Britt took hyperventilating fits. Zane told Liz she was Catlin's wife and assured Britt they'd find him. Liz was floored. "Oh, god. Please help."

Rachel: I guess I gave them all something to think about. But is it me? Just who in the name of heaven am I?

Sally & Catlin on a plane. Sally: Ireland? IRELAND? (I asked myself stupefied why does she keep saying that? It can't be. It can't be oh it is. Much rejoicing chez Cannell.) She's thrilled. He said it was either Ireland or Muncie Indiana. He said Kevin told him. He said he loved her smile and kissed her.

Zane's violently assuring Brittany they'll catch him at the airport. She's still thrashing about as they drive. Sudden squealing of tires. ACCIDENT?
