ANOTHER WORLD DAILY SYNOPSIS.

March 7, 1985

Wallingford tried to make the emissary feel at home mentioning her majesty several times. Kathleen's bad-tempered about that. Cass arrived. The emissary wanted to speak to him alone so he had Kathleen & Wallingford leave the room. "Mr. Winthrop. I am instructed to tell you that the queen misses you very, very much."

Rachel wants Carl to let Nancy go. He says he can't. He has a model of a warehouse with him. For planning the finale.

Larry managed to get them permission to test a device that would counteract Carl's. It should arrive shortly. MJ arrived at the Corys' and yelled at Mac for not telling her all he knew. She tried to convince him that they [the police] should know. Mac denied knowing anything. He was a jerk. She accused everyone of knowing something and not telling. She begged each one in turn to tell her and said they were making a big mistake and playing into Carl's hands and people could die. They remained firm. She left saying she wanted Perry to talk to Carl next time he called. Perry asked Mac to tell him what he knew.

Carl explaining to Rachel that Mac and Sandy will come to the warehouse to get her and due to his clever trickery with mirrors one would kill the other and suffer remorse. It doesn't matter which is which. Carl was nuts. Rachel tried to talk him out of it. He says children are always innocent and he only punishes the guilty. Rachel offered herself to him to leave Mac be. Carl: Mac's life for a roll in the hay? Rachel: We could go away. Carl: What, and will you make me happy Ever After? Rachel: I'll try. Carl: Oh, Rachel. Pas devant l'enfant. (Looking at the concussed and sleeping Nancy.) Rachel: What? Carl: Not in front of the child. Mustn't talk like that. Oh, Rachel. I'm sorry. I mean it's not that I don't fancy you -- Rachel: You don't have to do this, Carl. Carl: I think she's stirring. Don't tell her about the mirrors. I think it would upset her. He left. Rachel went to Nancy's side. Nancy's strange.

Felicia is trying to straighten things out with Peter about plugging Nouvelle on her show. Peter is trying to sound reasonable. He said a great many people had made many sacrifices for the magazine, citing Sally's gracious postponement of the wedding. Jamie's abstracted thinking about his mother and agreeing to what's been decided. The phone buzzed. Sally and Jamie both leaped for it. Sally got to it first and turned it over to him. It was not Mac as he had expected but Carl. Carl instructed him not to react. He told him to tell Mac to elude the police and go to a particular place at a particular time with 2 million dollars in cash. Jamie covered up and left. Felicia doesn't want to wrangle things out without Jamie there so she left. Sally got a call from accounting saying her budgets should be in by tomorrow. Peter hadn't told her and he apologized for ruining her evening plans and said they could work together tonight and get it all done. She's mad. She went to call Catlin. Felicia looked askance at Peter. Who said Sally was one in a million.

Catlin got to the cabin with groceries. He began taking things out of one of the bags and came across a bunch of white flowers (possibly freesias). He reeled and recalled standing outside a door clutching a bouquet looking perfectly foul not in a crimson satin tie decorated with horseshoes but a ten-gallon hat and a MOUSTACHE (is his life becoming one grand foray into experimental facial hair? Ugh.) hollering "hey open up, it's me, Josh." Courting, no doubt. The phone rang. He talked to Sally briefly. It's going to be a great night he said.

Wallingford: Kathleen, you're not supposed to go in there. Kathleen is just going to listen at the keyhole. Wallingford joined her. Carla: The queen misses you very much. Cass: It's lonely at the top, huh? Carla: Actually it is. Her majesty has many difficult decisions to make -- Kathleen: Like which tiara do I wear today? Carla: -- and is forced to handle certain matters Very Discreetly. Cass: Yeah? Well the last time I saw her Royal Highness she wasn't so discreet. She left me high and dry on some dock in Majorca. And the only thing I'd done to deserve that was to save her royal hide. Carla: She was under a great deal of pressure. Cass: Of course she wasn't so royal back then, she was just broke. Kathleen: way to go, Winthrop. Carla: Mr. Winthrop, I am entrusted with a very personal message from the queen. Kathleen: Did you hear how he lit into her? Carla: I am empowered to tell you that she was very much in love with you when she left. Cass: What? Kathleen: No. No, don't fall for it. Carla: She lives with regret. Cass: She does? Kathleen: She DOESN'T. Carla: She carries you here. In her heart. Wallingford: Kathleen, you're not to go in there. Cass: Carries me here? In her heart? Carla: It is true. Kathleen: (Something inaudible and violent.) Cass: So, Cecile regrets that day on the dock? Carla: Very much. Cass: Could you tell her something from me? Kathleen: Cass, don't. Wallingford: Ssh. Cass: Tell her that that was the best day in my life. After the countess took off, I realised that I had been spending my time with a REAL lady. Someone with class. Kathleen: He means ME. Cass: so you can tell her royal highness you can tell Cecile that I am glad she lives with regret and I don't. And if she carries me here in her heart I hope it's burning. Kathleen: Isn't he wonderful? Wallingford: Yes, he's wonderful. Now let's beat it before he -- Carla: She does not wish to know how you feel. Cass: well then why did she send you here? Carla: To give you this. She thought it would make you feel better to know it was not personal. Cass: What do you mean? What is this all about? Carla: The decree is self-explanatory. Cass: What decree? Carla: Good day Mr. Winthrop and please avoid any trips to Tanquir. The country is unstable enough already. Exit Carla.

Lily and Grant are cleaning out a closet preparing for the return of the newlyweds. They're getting along grandly. Chatting like mad. Nostalgic.

Felicia managed to actually escape Peter's clutches. Sally returned and told Peter she'd told Catlin she was coming right home. She doesn't want to set the precedent of letting her work take over her time with Catlin and she'll have the figures in herself tomorrow. She would also appreciate it if he'd TELL her when he sets deadlines. Peter agreed with her on everything and she seemed a little disconcerted. She left. Have a good night Sally he said.

Cass yelled after Carla and Kathleen and Wallingford joined him at the door. Cass: AND SHE DOES TOO CARE HOW I FEEL. Kathleen: Would you like some lunch, honey? A MASSAGE? Wallingford: Did she leave already? Cass: YEAH. Good riddance to her. Wallingford: That's too bad. I wanted to send my regards to Miss de Pollac. Cass: You know something? You can crown somebody. You can even anoint her forehead with oil. But that doesn't make her an aristocrat. Kathleen: (lovingly) Oh, you're so deep. Cass: You can take her royal decree. It gives me a royal pain. Wallingford: Oh, oh, oh. Oh. Kathleen: You know, I didn't want to say this but I always thought she was a bit common. Cass: Yeah? Well don't hold back whenever you get the urge to say that in the future, Kathleen. Kathleen: I won't, I won't. Wallingford: Cass, I think you'd better read this. Cass: I'll read it, I'll read it. Hear ye, hear ye, her royal peroxided majesty sends her royal greetings. Kathleen: well la-di-da to you too, Queenie. Cass: Be it known that these premises at 30 Meadow Lane being solely the possession of her royal highness -- Kathleen: Her royal highness Cecile the Chunkette. Cecile the Cow. Cass: Yes. This 7th day of the 3rd month -- Wallingford: That's today. Kathleen: Cass, what is it? Cass: I'll tell you what it is. It's a royal eviction notice.

Nancy is only vaguely aware of what Carl was talking about. She's scared. So's Rachel. Rachel said he wouldn't succeed.

Mac told Perry they suspect Carl of owning further policemen. Perry accepts this. Jamie returned and talked to Mac alone and gave him Carl's message. Mac's going to raise the money. He is aware it's a ruse. Jamie is concerned for his safety. Mac will do anything to save Rachel. He doesn't believe Carl wants to hurt Rachel & Nancy.

Sally returned to the cabin. Catlin says she can do all of the cooking and he'll do all the cleaning. Apparently his little bitty fowl dinner was a disaster. (I'm not surprised. I suspect them of letting Sally make it up to him rather longer than was necessary and leaving the chickens to become charcoal.) Sally found the flowers and said they were beautiful. Catlin: Sally -- Sally: I just found them out by the back porch. OH! Smell them. Catlin: They were supposed to be ROSES. I ordered ROSES. Sally: I LOVE them. Catlin: I didn't know. I opened them up when I got home. Sally: Honey, that's okay. These are beautiful. Catlin: No, they were SUPPOSED to be ROSES. Sally: Well, roses are nice but -- these kind of make me feel special. I say good for the florist. Catlin: Yeah. He told her the hospital job looks good. She's pleased. He'll maybe get another shot at being a cop late summer. She's proud of the way he is about her job and he's proud of her. Sally's going to cook rather than let him run riot and cause further chicken catastrophes.

Peter and Felicia have settled everything to her satisfaction. He left. The phone rang. It was the bartender with a message for Peter. She took it down.

Lily and Grant fraternized further. Discussing anything and everything in general. Playing old records. He asked her out.

Kathleen in some injudicious remarks let it slip that she'd been listening at the door but Cass was appeased when she expressed approval of his words and helped him out of his tie and shirt. They went back to his place and drank out of the same glass and carried on in front of the fire.

Catlin and Sally had dinner and went to sit beside the fire. Sally says pretty soon they'll be able to do this every night after they put Kevin to bed. Catlin is looking forward to having both her and Kevin there allatime. They're happy. He told her the flowers grew wild in Wyoming.

Peter called Ed, who told him if he wanted a certain phone number he'd have to wire enough cash (to sink a ship, no doubt).

Carl called and talked to both Mac and Perry. The trace was not completed.
