Cheryl and Vince and Scott heard on the radio that Chad had been arrested for Quinn's murder. Cheryl told Scott that Chad wouldn't have done it.
MJ heard on the radio that Quinn had been murdered and someone had been arrested. She immediately phoned Adam at the station.
The press [including Tony] and a lot of distraught people yelled at Chad as he was taken into Adam's office. He yelled back at them that he hadn't done it. MJ's call was put through. Adam told her Chad had been arrested and why. She told him he should have called her. He said he'd talk to her later. MJ got up to go.
Nancy joined the Mary's Place gang over the radio. [quoth she, "it's so spooky to hear my name connected with Chad Rollo."] She sees it as a reason for the police not to bug Tony. Mr. Barton came in and got violent over the Chadnews in the paper. He stomped out. Cheryl told Scott she and MJ didn't think Chad had killed anyone. Scott told her Chad had brainwashed her. They argued. Tom and Julie came in together, dressed in black. Nancy embraced Tom. They wept and felt bad for Zack. Lisa and Jamie came in. Jamie hugged Tom and introduced Lisa. Tom assured her it wasn't her fault.
Adam tried to get Chad to confess. Chad's lawyer advised him not to say anything. Chad said he had gone down to the waterfront to go for a walk but he'd missed his wallet so he retraced his steps and found Quinn. Adam said he would book Chad if the time of death suited him. Poor Chad. Adam was unreasonable. He brought up his mother. Chad yelled at him to shut up about his mother. He said he didn't hate women, he loved women. His beautiful mother couldn't help it. He didn't hate her, he hated Him. I couldn't tell, with all the yelling, whether Chad admitted He [How can he be, if Mac is?] MJ dashed in looking very cute. Chad looked at her and said quietly, "I'm not lying."
Julie is worried about Zack. He's lost. Nancy asked after Carter. He's shaken up about Quinn. Tony wandered in, being insensitive to Tom's feelings. Tom gave him what for. Tony and Nancy fell over themselves apologizing. Tony asked Lisa if he could interview her. She overruled Jamie and said she would do it.
Vince interrogated Cheryl about what she'd said about her manager. She was forced to explain about the modelling. He forbade it. He asked who her manager had been. She told him. He hit the roof. She told him Chad and MJ talked all the time and he hadn't done anything. Vince said MJ was a trained policewoman. She stomped out. Scott accosted her. She told him she was worried about how Chad's arrest could take MJ.
Adam badgered Chad some more. Chad [looking at MJ at the meaningfully appropriate points] said he loved women and he was in love even now. The press burst in, creating a diversion. The press was pushed out. MJ was told to take Chad back to his cell. Someone came in and showed Adam Quinn's note about Peter. Adam said to bring Peter down immediately. In the corner Chad grabbed MJ's shoulders and implored her not to let him be convicted for something he hadn't done. She led him out.
Lisa told Jamie she wasn't a freak. She explained her feelings as best she could. She said she hoped next time she could help. Tony took this to mean that she doubted the police had the right man. She denied it. Jamie told him to push off. Zack staggered in. Julie introduced him to Tom. Tom wept. They told each other Quinn and he had loved each other.
Peter arrived at the police station. Adam was not friendly. He showed him Quinn's note. Peter said it didn't make any sense since he'd never said it.
MJ told Chad there was nothing she could do. He became desperate. She pried him loose and went to lead him past the rabid press. Ken Barton came flying out of the crowd and stabbed him. MJ screamed. Her arm was cut a little. Chad groaned most fearfully. MJ assured him he wouldn't die.
Tom told Zack Quinn had really enjoyed being his secretary. Ick. Jamie was summoned down to the station house to tend to Chad and MJ. Vince rushed out after him.
A nurse left MJ holding a compress to Chad's side. Chad blamed himself for having messed up her life and caused her arm to bleed. He told her he'd never intended to do anything but look after her and he still loved her. She told him she wouldn't let them pin the murders on him. He held her hand. When he said he was cold [no shirt] she moved closer. He kissed her fingers and told her he'd always love her. Adam appeared in the doorway and looked a little peculiar for a minute. When MJ saw him he came in and fussed over her. Jamie arrived and assured Chad he'd live. MJ was concerned about him. Adam told MJ Mr. Barton was being charged. MJ kept turning around to look at Chad. Adam said mean things about Chad. He hugged MJ and said "if anything ever happened to you." MJ looked at Chad over his shoulder.
Cheryl told Scott why she thought Chad was still in love with MJ. They argued about their breakup and her friendship with Chad. Vince phoned to say MJ was all right.
Peter wants Chad convicted for his sake. He phoned Peggy.
Vince gave Chad a hard time about Maisie. MJ made him leave. Adam found out the time of death and ordered Chad booked. MJ raced after him.
Vince saw Cheryl on a billboard in a bikini. He was not thrilled.
MJ told Adam he couldn't file charges because she had been with Chad.
The killer's room contains a magazine with a picture of Cheryl in it.
