Ascot Guest House
Lowestoft

Had another nice day riding up from Harwich. Crossed on two ferries and stayed on beautiful country lanes most of the way. Had lunch at a pub in Snape, then saw a ruined abbey in Leiston. It was very old, I don't remember when it was built but the last abbot was 16th century. Part of it has been patched up & had a thatched roof put on and is now being used as a church.

I was hoping to get a room in Kessinglandjust south of here, but there were none on a Sunday night so I had to continue on along the A2 to here. Went for a walk around town after supper on the pier then saw a home movie of the Lake District here at the guest house. All other guests are old. One guy from Sheffield was 92 & had biked & walked all over the country. Phoned Russell again with a bit of trouble with the phones but eventually got through. Tomorrow I go to the youth hostel in Norwich via Beccles. All's well but I'm tired out after the long ride today. Bum's better.

Luv, Rich
