After supper I went for a walk around the park (which my window overlooks) & behind the park, right on the coast, is an overgrown ruined battery (army fort type of thing) from the Second World War. In the bushes the birds were singing their heads off & I heard & saw one who had at least 50 different songs which he sang, each twice of three times, then switch to another. [See Wikipedia entry for Song Thrush by clicking on the (Wikipedia) image to the right.] In the park were four or five huge old trees covered in a soft green coat of moss & lichen.
You should see the sheets of the bed I'm lying on right now! They're a lovely rich purple.
Tomorrow I'm going to cross on the ferry at 10 o'clock in the morning then see how far I can get in the direction of Norwich. Unfortunately, the youth hostel on the way is closed on Sundays so I will have to find somewhere else. Bed & breakfast here is 2.25 pounds & supper was only an extra 60 p which I thought was very good. Hopefully tomorrow will be as good.
