August 14, 2006 - Little Red Lake to Peskowesk Brook

I got up really early, hoping to see the sun rise. Unfortunately it was cloudy, so the sun never rose. I read my book for a few hours while Emily slept in. It started raining a couple of times, so I started to get ready to get in the tent, but each time I was about to go in, the rain stopped so I remainded outside. Emily got up and we cooked a big breakfast of pancakes. As we were packeing up camp, it started raining. We hit the trail (gravel road) in the pouring rain. It remained raining the rest of the day. The rain forced us to walk fast, so within an hour and a half, we were out of the park and back at to car. We borrowed a comfort startion in the nearby car campground to shower and clean ourselves up. We stoped in Lunenburg for a meal at Large Marge's Diner, which was good. Then we went up to the Lunenburg County Winery, tried a whole bunch of yummy fruit wines, and bought a whole bunch more before driving back to Halifax.

I cannot say Keji is a great place to hike. Too much gravel road instead of trail. The second day was an awesome hike. The first day was pretty good as well, but the last two days sucked. Gravel road makes for fast and easy travel, but is very boring.
