Boutique Mountaineering Camp - 2018
[Home]
Katharina and I decided to do a luxury mountaineering camp this summer. We had done the Alpine Club of Canada's
GMC (General Mountaineering Camp) five years ago, and had a great time.
Brad Harrison, who used to organize the GMC, has been running his own camp for the past few years in a similar format
though on a smaller scale, so we decided to give this one a try. We signed up for week 3 for this camp, nestled in the
Westfall-Nemo group of peaks of the Selkirk mountains, British Columbia. With only twelve participants (or guests as
they called us), three certified guides, two assistant guides, a camp cook and kitchen helper, we were treated to a
fairly intimate experience with some excellent mountaineering and great technical rock climbing. Over the course of the
week I achieved four distinct summits and turned back on one attempt. Before flying into camp we spent a few days in
Canmore acclimitizing to altitude and spending some time with our friend Tana.
