Descent to Bow Lake

Today was cleanup and departure day for us, but the women had done a fantastic job scrubbing the hut spotless yesteday. With a full new crew of people arriving last night, we had very few hut chores to do other than wash our breakfast dishes and pack our gear. One of the outhouse barells was close to overflowing though, and Bill, Damien, and Sharmin get the public service award for taking care of this icky job.

Well appreciated community service

Packs were much lighter for the way down as the food was now gone. Gravity being on our side also helped a little. After the boulder bridge we decided to hike up to take a closer look at the falls. Charlie volunteered to stay behind and guard the packs from the bears, so we did not have to haul our gear up this side trip. The final few kilometers spread the group out thin as everyone walked their own pace. Charlie and I took a refreshing swim in the fridgid waters of Bow Lake to clean off while waiting for the others.

Packed up and ready to go

Side trip to the waterfall... aren't we supposed to go up there?

Strolling along the shores of Bow Lake

We spent our last night back at the hostel in Lake Louise. Cold beer, warm food, and good company was the theme of the evening.

Fancy dinner in our best t-shirts

Hike time: 4 hours
