Tuesday, September 18 - Rest Day - Grand Falls, NB - 0 km
I slept in and then cooked some potatoes and a sausage in the microwave in my room for breakfast. I did not have many
goals toady; explore, find the library, and look for a tail-light for my bike. I wandered down to the falls and
explored the trails along the gorge. Took many photographs. I wandered through town and found the one and only bike
shop, simply called "The Bike Shop". It was actually just a back corner section of the local Home Hardware. The
friendly mechanic pointed out that the supply of accessories was somewhat limited, and indeed it was. There were
head-lights, but no tail-lights. I kicked myself for forgetting this one item at home. I may need it in Digby as one
of the two dayly Ferries lands at 20:00. I found the library and sent off some emails from one of the computer
terminals. I went back to my hotel room and basically spent the rest of the afternoon reading and becoming somewhat
bored. I went out and had supper at a delicious Italian restaurant in town. I hope my knee has enjoyed this day off
and will function tomorrow.
Below the falls is a one mile long gorge. There are some light hiking trails along it.
Rainbow.
Another rainbow.
The Saint John river above the falls.
