Jamil has spent over a decade working on a range of environmental technologies and behaviours, with non-profit groups, governments, corporations and businesses of all sizes, in a wide variety of roles and in several countries.

Jamil tries to find and explore innovations that push the envelope of what is considered possible. Some of his current favorites include the rope pump, clay-pot irrigation systems, manually drilled small-bore wells, solar concentrating systems, interseasonal thermal storage, air heaters, and decentralized sewage systems.

His current position is with the Mountain Societies Development Support Program in Tajikistan where he is introducing appropriate technologies and incubating new enterprises.
