352. Mary Hollingsworth (John , Daniel , Samuel , Thomas , Thomas , Henry ) was born about 1825 in Cronelusk, Arklow Rock House. She died after 1880 in Arklow Village.

Mary married (1) John Tyrrell son of Michael Tyrrell on 3 Jun 1851 in St. Saviour's Protestant Church, Arklow. John was born in John was a mariner. He died on 27 Aug 1876 in He died and she remarried..

John Tyrrell was lost at sea when the "The Grand Duke" went down with all hands. John was a 3rd Mate on the ship.

John and Mary had the following children:

  651 M ii William Tyrrell Master Mariner was born in 1851 in Arklow. He died in Sep 1884 in Ship went down at sea and missing..

William was lost at sea when the ship "Martha Jane" went missing at sea 18 Mar 1884.
  652 M iii Samuel Tyrrell no proven was born in 1864 in Arklow. He died on 20 Apr 1878 in At Sea on ship "Spray" Drowned at Killorglin.

Mary married (2) Martin Byrne.

They had the following children:

Annie later claimed she had some 36 cousins in Canada or America on the Hollingsworth side. The Hollingsworths had to be the Canadian branch because the American branch did not come to America until 1868.
        Annie married Mr. Tyrrell. Mr. was born in A cousin.

356. Ellenor Prestage (Ellenor Hollingsworth , Daniel , Samuel , Thomas , Thomas , Henry ).

Ellenor married James Hempenstall in 1837. James was born in Ashwood, Inch, County Wexford.

They had the following children:

371. Mary Moore (Elizabeth (Betty) Myler , Anne Hollingsworth , Samuel , Thomas , Thomas , Henry ).

Mary married unk first Kavanagh. unk was born in Moneygarrow, Castletown, Inch.

They had the following children:

        Anne married Michael Fennell. Michael was born in Gorey, County Wexford, Ireland.

383. Alice Hollingsworth married 1st cousin (Samuel , Thomas , John , Thomas , Thomas , Henry ) was born on 7 Jul 1816. She died on 27 Feb 1891.

Alice just like her mother married a cousin.

Alice married Joseph Hollingsworth son of Nicholas Hollingsworth and Lucinda Lucy Styles. Joseph was born on 3 Sep 1833. He died before 1891.

They had the following children:

  658 M i Blind John Hollingsworth was born about 1857 in Eaton. He died on 25 Aug 1911 in Morrisville.

John was the only child of Joseph and Alice, and died of a cerebral hemorhage at the age of 54, he is buried in the cemtery in Morrisville. The family marriage is not believed to have been the cause of John's blindness, he wasn't blind at age three but was on the 1870 census age thirteen, he was blind.

Those who knew John around town claimed that he possessed a 'third eye', and was accordingly able to get around the village on his daily rounds without the use of a cane and he never asked for help. He walked the streets "on instinct." He was of average height, weighing about 180 pounds, and had gray hair, a full beard and moustache. His father died first, then his mother, and spent the next 20 years of his life along.

397. William Styles Hollingsworth (Nicholas , Thomas , John , Thomas , Thomas , Henry ) was born on 29 Jul 1827 in Enniscorthy, County Wexford. He died on 31 May 1900 in Hoboken. New Jersey.

William was a 23 year old laborer and Sarah was 21 when they left Ireland for America on the ship "John Bryant" from Liverpool on May 8, 1851, Benjamin Dyer was the Master of the ship, a 722 ton vessel. They were married in Enniscorthy on Sept 4, 1850. They settled in Hoboken, New Jersey and raised many sons, William died in 1900.

William married Sarah Bates daughter of Daniel Bates on 4 Sep 1850. Sarah was born in 1830 in Enniscorthy, County Wexford. She died on 6 Aug 1912 in Hoboken, New Jersey.

They had the following children:

  659 M i William Henry Hollingsworth was born on 14 Jun 1851 in Hoboken, New Jersey. He died on 25 Apr 1889 in Hoboken, New Jersey.
  660 M ii George Walter Hollingsworth was born on 30 Dec 1853 in Hoboken, New Jersey. He died on 9 May 1920 in Hoboken, New Jersey.

George was known for laying the first oyster beds in Barnegat Bay, New Jersey.
  661 F iii Esther Olive Hollingsworth was born on 24 Jul 1860 in Hoboken, New Jersey. She died on 1 Sep 1860 in Hoboken, New Jersey.
  662 F iv Lizzie Gertrude Hollingsworth was born on 10 Feb 1862 in Hoboken, New Jersey. She died on 12 Feb 1865 in Hoboken, New Jersey.
  663 F v Matilda Hollingsworth was born on 27 Mar 1868 in Hoboken, New Jersey. She died on 24 Feb 1947 in Hoboken, New Jersey.

400. Joseph Hollingsworth (Nicholas , Thomas , John , Thomas , Thomas , Henry ) was born on 3 Sep 1833. He died before 1891.

Joseph married Alice Hollingsworth married 1st cousin daughter of Samuel Hollingsworth and Esther Hollingsworth Hollingsworth 1st or 2nd cousin. Alice was born on 7 Jul 1816. She died on 27 Feb 1891.

Alice just like her mother married a cousin.

Joseph and Alice had the following children:

416. John Hunter Hollingsworth Jr. (John Hunter , John , John , Thomas , Thomas , Henry ) was born on 6 Jun 1836. He died on 11 Oct 1897 in New York City, USA. He was buried in Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Paterson, New Jersey.

He was a dry goods merchant in New York City and died on his mother's 97th birthday anniversary. He first lived with his father until his first marriage, went to Binghamton, Broome County, New York, where his eldest son was born, thence to Paterson where he bought his lots in the cemetery in 1872 for burial of his infant stillborn twins. He wrote his will on 19th Apr 1897 leaving most of his property to his son William and his wife Cora. He gave his watch and chain to his brother Thomas.

John married (1) Susan Sterling Turner.

They had the following children:

  665 M i William Turner Pierce Hollingsworth was born in 1860 in Binghamton, New York. He died in 1942.

William was known as the "Neon Lights Tycoon".

Wrote a letter to Edward Thomas Hollingsworth with a reference to his father as being a first cousin of John W. Hollingsworth a "draper" in Gorey. And also mentioned in the letter John Godkin who was a sadler in Gorey. Many of the Godkins were related by marriage to our Hollingsworth.

William was the very person who brought Neon lighting to the United States. He, as a young man was sent by George Westinghouse to Woo Claude Neon the inventor of the neon phenomenon. He thereafter founded the Claude Neon Lights Company, and many other corporations, became fabulously wealthy, and died virtually penniless due to business "reverses" and the Great Depression. He literally "lighted up Broadway".

William and his father visited Ireland and Gorey in particular, and saw buildings on Main Street that his grandfather had built.
        William married Mary C. Hoyt on 17 Jun 1884. Mary was born in 0006. She died in Gladys, Ruth, Hazel, Jacqueline,Elizabeth.

John married (2) Lucy Banker.

John married (3) Cora Hopkins.

419. Thomas Pierce Hollingsworth (John Hunter , John , John , Thomas , Thomas , Henry ) was born on 6 May 1844 in Gorey, County Wexford, Ireland. He died on 2 Oct 1922 in Freeport, Long Island, New York.

Thomas Pierce Hollingsworth served in Co. H, 37th New York Regiment of State Militia in the Civil War, enlisting 29 May 1862 as a private at New York City and was discharged honorably on 29 Aug the same year. His physical description was (in 1862) height five feet nine inches, complexion dark, eyes dark, hair dark, weight 191 pds, occupation clerk. He received a pension on his claim and his widow likewise. They lived together 55 years.

Thomas died at his residence 191 Locust Avenue, Freeport, Long Island. Funeral Services were held at the U.S. Grant Post Number 327, G.A.R., 489 Washington Avenue, Brooklyn, on Weds. October 4, at 1pm.

,He and his wife are buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Brooklyn, New York lot #29952.

Thomas married Martha Inglis daughter of John Inglis and Jane Inglis on 16 Jan 1867 in Paterson, New Jersey. Martha was born on 13 Feb 1848 in Paterson, New Jersey. She died on 12 Apr 1932. She was buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY.

A government record indicates Martha was dropped from the Pensions Accounts because she had died, the date being April 12, 1932, the last payment of $40 per month on April 3, 1932. The pension was as a result of her husband serving in the Civil War.

Thomas and Martha had the following children:

+ 666 M i John Hunter Hollingsworth was born on 17 Oct 1867. He died in Jan 1944.
  667 F ii Maude Inglis Hollingsworth was born on 5 Jun 1876 in Patterson, New Jersey. She died on 7 Aug 1962 in Los Angeles, California.
  668 F iii Grace Martha Hollingsworth was born on 7 Aug 1885 in Married Donald Graham. She died in Still living in 1963.

422. John Wesley Hollingsworth (Peter Roe , John , John , Thomas , Thomas , Henry ) was born on 21 Aug 1839 in Gorey, County Wexford. He was christened in Gorey Methodist.

John married Sarah Anne Percival daughter of George P. Percival on 15 Mar 1864 in Gorey Methodist.

They had the following children:

424. Samuel Hollingsworth Rev Doctor (Peter Roe , John , John , Thomas , Thomas , Henry ) was born on 17 Dec 1843 in Gorey, County Wexford, Ireland. He died on 29 Nov 1898 in Dublin, Ireland.

He entered the ministry in 1870, prior to that he entered Trinity College, Dublin, an Anglican School, received his M.A. spring, 1871 B.D. & M.A. summer 1888, his D.D. Summer 1891. He became President of Dublin Wesley College shortly after that.

Samuel married Myra Matilda Reid before 1867.

They had the following children:

  674 M ii Samuel Henry Hollingsworth was born on 31 Dec 1869. He died in 1878 in Newtownards, County Down.
+ 675 F iii Myra Frances Hollingsworth was born in 1871. She died in 1899.
+ 676 F iv Catherine "Kate" Hollingsworth was born on 25 Jun 1873. She died in 1899.
  677 F v Martha Emily Hollingsworth was born in 1877 in Newtownards, County Down. She died in 1878 in Newtownards, County Down.

426. John Robinson Jr. (John Robinson , Martha Hollingsworth , John , Thomas , Thomas , Henry ) was born in 1801. He died on 11 Oct 1872 in Kiltalown, Tallaght Parish.

John Jr. lived at Kiltelown, in the parish of Tallaght.

He had the following children:

  678 M i Thomas Robinson.
  679 M ii John Domville Robinson.

John was a well known Solicitor of Dublin.
  680 F iii Rebecca (Finnemor) Robinson was born in Rock Cottage, Dalkey, County Dublin.

430. Charlotte Hollingsworth [scrapbook] (John , William , John , Thomas , Thomas , Henry ) was born on 9 Jun 1823 in Cranacrower, Parish of Ballycanew. She was christened on 30 Jun 1823 in Old Ballycanew Church.

Charlotte was living in America at the time of her father's death. John left her 10 pounds "annually in one payment during the continuance of the said property and after my wife Esther's death, then any money remaining after Esther's death is to be dividing equally between his daughters Charlotte, Anne Gainford and Susanna Tackaberry".

Charlotte Hollingsworth James left Ireland for America in 1851 on the Bark "Princess" from Dublin and arrived in most likely New York on 21 Jun 1851 with her husband William and five children. John Hollingsworth was one of the witnesses, most likely her father, since there is no known brother John.

Charlotte and her husband were well to do Protestant Ascendancy people. It is not known where they settled after arriving in New York, they generally did not like Republican Democracies, they would have been more British in there thinking and might have immigrated to Canada. As of this point there where abouts is not known.

And most likely Charlotte never received the money left to her in her father's will.

Charlotte's wedding was witnessed by John Hollingsworth and Samuel Hollingsworth in the Ballycanew Church of Ireland.

Charlotte married William James son of Thomas James and Esther unk maiden James on 20 Sep 1843 in Ballycanew Church of Ireland. William was born in Tulloclay, Parish of Ardoyne, Co. Wicklow.

They had the following children:

  681 M i Thomas Hollingsworth James was born in 1844.
  682 M ii John Gainfort James was born in 1845.
  683 F iii Charlotte Esther? James was born in 1847.
  684 M iv Abraham Hollingsworth R. James was born in 1849.
  685 M v William A. James was born in 1851.
