The Beer Tent: Reflux

The Ottawa Fringe Festival is done for another year. Thanks to everyone who made it out to the show.

Did you enjoy our cumin-scented-moustache cookies, based on the famous Mi Casa cookies?
Here's the recipe so you can make them yourself and stage your own home production of The Beer Tent: Reflux or Countries Shaped Like Stars!

Ingredients
1 1/4 cups sugar
9 tbsp butter
2 egg yolks
zest of 1 lemon
4 tbsp lemon juice
2 tsp ground cumin
2 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda

Instructions
Cream sugar and butter together.
Beat in egg yolks, lemon zest, lemon juice and cumin.
Sift together flour and baking soda, then fold into the butter mixture. Dough will be relatively dry.
Cover the dough and place in freezer to harden.
Preheat oven to 325F.
Roll dough out to a thickness of a few millimetres and cut into shapes with a knife or MOUSTACHE SHAPED COOKIE CUTTER (We used a bat-shaped cookie cutter and cut off the heads!) Alternatively, roll dough into a cylinder and slice to create boring round cookies.
Place cookies onto a baking sheet, leaving some space for spreading.
Bake for 10 minutes or until slightly browned at the edges.
Allow to cool before serving.

The Beer Tent: Reflux

Written by: David Whiteley and Kel Parsons

How will they slander you this time? The roast of the Ottawa theatre scene returns! Whiteley and Parsons are still two theatre whores who've been on a few too many stages and far too many benders. Names are dropped and obscure references are out-obscured as they conceive "14 Gold: Pown the Odium-A Brewer's Dozen of Canadian World's Most Repugnant Plays."
