The Corys couldn't believe that Amanda had decided to have an abortion without telling them. Rachel said it was because Mac had refused to discuss the option. Mac was rendered speechless.
Jamie got a message that a woman was waiting for him in the coffee shop. He assumed it was Amanda.
Sam caught up with Amanda and perceived that she hadn't had the abortion. She told him she never wanted to see him again. He held on to her arms and restrained her. She said she wanted the baby and wasn't about to destroy it because he was an idiot. She accused him of being interested only in the baby. He said he cared about her very much. She leaped into a waiting cab and sped off.
Vicky surprised Jamie. He told her he and Sam had come to prevent Amanda from having an abortion. She offered to help.
Chad told Cheryl he'd got her a print ad and a commercial. She would appreciate the money. He told Scott and Cheryl he had a $20,000 hospital bill for Dawn and no insurance. Her coverage on his policy lapsed when she turned 18 and now no one will underwrite her. Scott insisted on helping.
Ada told Rachel not to blame Mac. Rachel told Mac the fact that he had said he didn't think Amanda should have an abortion would have made Amanda afraid to oppose him. Ada pointed out that they had to live with Amanda's decision.
Sam limped after the cab and caught up with it stopped at a light, whereupon he dragged Amanda bodily out of the back seat. Grrr. He told her he loved her and he was a jerk. He kissed her. She melted. He paid off the cab driver and carried Amanda back to the hotel. Ick.
Chad refused to tell Cheryl why he considered himself responsible for the spread of AIDS. She said he couldn't possibly. He hinted at his dark secret. She said he could tell her anything. She insisted she wasn't a baby. He told her not to knock innocence. He told her he'd been a pimp. She stared.
Jamie phoned home and was surprised that the Corys knew all. Julie Ann had told them. [She spills everything sooner or later, the twit.] Rachel said if he hadn't called her in half an hour she was coming to New York. She was able to tell him Amanda was staying at the Plaza. When the hotel told him that she had checked out, Vicky suggested they interrogate doormen and things to find out where she had gone.
Sam checked Amanda back in and carried her all the way back up to her room. She must have some short attention span because she acted as if she hadn't kissed him out on the street and he hadn't said he loved her because he had to say it again and even then she was hard to convince. Bad continuity. In some sick way it was implied [or at least I inferred] that women who don't get pregnant are just bed-hopping promiscuous sluts. I was enraged when Sam said he didn't think arguing would be good for the baby [so she should shut up and stop trying to air her grievances now that he knows what he wants. Insupportable]. He admitted that the abortion had brought him to his senses. She asked what if she had had the abortion. He said it would have been tough. He insisted he loved her. She melted again. Kissing. She brought up Joyce. He said she was gone. She said she needed time to think and left. She came back almost immediately and got lost in his arms. Jamie and Vicky arrived. Jamie was not surprised to find Amanda hadn't had the abortion. Jamie phoned the Corys to head them off. He put Amanda on. They were relieved. Vicky convinced Jamie to leave Sam and Amanda alone. They gazed into each other's eyes. Sam assured Amanda she was doing the rightest thing in the world.
Cheryl was incredulous. Chad told her Dawn wasn't to know. He said his mother had donated contaminated blood to Dawn. He said he would never be a pimp again. She asked if MJ knew about his pimping. He said she did.
Mac is not yet crazy about Sam. He teased Rachel about her becoming a grandmother.
Scott told Zack about Dawn's financial problems. Zack said she might be eligible for Medicaid. They started discussing a certain Justice Blanchard. God's gift to warthogs said "how can a woman that pretty be so mean?" [I cannot express how that infuriates me.] Her sister was at the bar and said her whole family was mean. Scott fled. Zack tried to charm his way out of it. Ms Blanchard was not charmed.
Despite Jamie's objections Vicky took him to dinner and taunted him about his boring life with Lisa.
Rachel dug out a bassinet and made nursery plans and schools. Ada suggested they consider the baby's mother.
Sam suggested an expedition to FAO Schwarz. Amanda said [rather petulantly] she didn't want to go shopping. She said they should get other things in order before they bought toys. He told her he loved her some more.
Vicky got Jamie to drink espresso. He accused her of wanting to settle down. She said there was no Prince Charming. He told her Jake McKinnon wasn't the only guy in town. She told a waiter he had fabulous legs and thereby induced him to dance in the Greek style. Vicky danced with abandon. Jamie looked uncomfortable. Vicky broke a plate.
Ada pointed out that Amanda might not want to live in the Madhouse. Mac and Rachel conceded that they should be less protective. Mac doesn't want Sam to marry Amanda. Rachel smacked Mac when he called her Grandma. Then she kissed him into a horizontal position.
