Mary returned Vince his housekeys, since Becky is over and done with. Cheryl was upset to lose Becky and surrender her to someone as chancy as a parent. She wouldn't listen to Mary. She was bitter.
Jamie and Lisa settled down for a Woody Allen filmfest and wept over the onions. She sent him to shower while she cooked.
Rachel fired Sam for being Mitch's brother. Mitch discussed it with Felicia. Sam nursed the want ads. Enter Cass.
MJ found Mary writing her a note. She doesn't know yet that Mary has split with Vince. Mary burst her bubble. MJ was upset. Mary explained that she wasn't ready for commitment. MJ saw reason, although she wasn't crazy about it. She and Mary embraced. MJ still has hope for Mary and Vince. Mary said she would like to see her and Adam together.
Ada advised Vince to take time off. He told her about the split. Mary is also leaving Mary's Place. Amanda bounded in and filled Ada in on her life. She says college is for people who don't know what they want to do with their lives. Self-righteous prig. Rachel put in an appearance.
Felicia confessed to Cass that she and Mitch were an item. She hadn't wanted to tell him that her life was going well when his wasn't. Mitch left them alone. Cass told her he didn't need a den mother. Adam came up and asked Wallingford if he recognised a photograph. He is looking for a man named Joe, police business, I guess. Sara's Joe? Wally recognised him, but said he wasn't there. Joe [the one related to the videotape] came up in the elevator. Adam asked him about MJ, rather violently.
Jamie never lets up being amorous. The Cajun food turned out to be alarmingly hot. Jamie found out the hard way.
MJ enjoyed having her mother in the house. Mary asked what she intended to do now that she was off the force. MJ said she was considering going back to singing, but she wasn't sure about Chad's involvement. She asked if Mary thought she and Vince had a future. Vince came in and awaited the answer eagerly.
Joe prevaricated. Adam got him to admit that the video tape thing had been used to get to a third party; he wouldn't name Chad, but he gave a description of a guy who used to be in love with MJ. Adam thought of Chad at once and let him go. Adam found out from Wally that Chad should be in his room.
Jamie suffered in a Godfather sort of voice and gamely carried on to please his beloved. She kept him supplied with water. He kissed her burningly.
Rachel asked for a semester of college. Amanda said it would be a waste of time.
Adam pounded on Chad's door. Chad let him in. Adam asked him why people would use a video tape of MJ to get even with him [Chad]. Chad said he'd tried to protect MJ. He told Adam he'd known all along about the tape and loved MJ nonetheless. Adam hit him.
Vince asked MJ to leave him and Mary alone. She obliged, saying she loved them both. Vince told Mary she could go when she'd heard him out. He said it had taken him a long time to progress to dating. He said he'd always love her, but he wouldn't grieve again if she walked out on him. Subdued, she got ready to go. He tried to convince her she couldn't leave.
Felicia told Cass he'd spoiled her for other lawyers, so now she's into earthy types. He asked when wedding bells would ring. She said she might have worn Mitch's pyjamas, but she wasn't about to go THAT far. He gave his blessing. She appreciated his arrogance. Wallingford came over to chat about Kathleen's money. Cass told him to bet it all on a lousy horse: Nasty Norma.
Ada refereed. Rachel gave up. She told Amanda not to make decisions just to spite her. Amanda stomped out.
Chad taunted Adam some more. He accused Adam of having loved MJ in the wrong spirit. He [Chad] said he'd do anything to have her back again. Adam loathes him. MJ came in and found Adam about to smash Chad again. Adam refrained, having interpreted her appearance as a reversion to Chad, and told her to go to hell and take her boyfriend with her. He stomped out.
The spices made Jamie even more amorous. Amanda came to the door and interrupted l'amour to bitch about Rachel. Whoops.
Felicia told Mitch Cass was fine with their relationship. Cass fretted about the insurance money. Felicia suggested they put it to good use.
Mary admitted she couldn't say goodbye forever. She cried. Vince coaxed. She said she was neither memory nor Señora. He said he was glad she was alive and he wished things had worked out better. He asked to be the one to walk out so he wouldn't remember her walking out.
Amanda has a phobia or paranoid delusions or something. Jamie told her she had to make Rachel listen. Amanda refused.
Chad told MJ Adam didn't know he'd been her pimp. MJ didn't want to discuss it. She said she'd come to say she wouldn't sing and enter into dreams with him again. He pled. She left.
Ada advised Rachel to leave Amanda to her own devices. Rachel went home. Vince came back, a little depressed. Losing Mary for the second time was not a happy experience.
