Mitch introduced himself. Rachel returned and started to argue with him. Matthew left. Rachel yelled at Mitch. She told him how fatherly Mac had been and said Matthew didn't want to see him. Matthew reappeared and asked if he'd read The Executioner's Song. He's fascinated with the concept of jail.
Adam told Cass if he broke into the hospital room the evidence wouldn't hold up in court.
A guy named Andy who is the embodiment of all the virtues Vince looks for in a suitor for his daughter's hand (he plays football) appeared in Mary's Place and started making interested-in-Cheryl noises. Vince encouraged this. Andy asked Cheryl out. She tried to put him off. Scott helped her out by saying she had to study. Andy said they could study together. Vince told her she didn't have to work and glued them together. Scott seemed unthrilled.
Kathleen accused Cass of neglecting his other responsibilities. She asked him to lay off his strife until after the wedding. He pointed out that Reginald might stop the wedding.
Michael explained to Donna about the elopement. He told her they couldn't allow the Carrot to do to Marley what he had done to her [Donna]. Donna: are you prepared to eat 12 dozen petits fours in assorted flavours? They tucked in.
Reginald chatted with the orange spangly dress. They're keeping her a secret from Mary. (It sounds as if he's setting her up as his mistress somewhere, but I fail to see how a mistress could be used to stop Jake and Marley. It's not Ellen's voice. Surely even Margaret DePriest would not stoop so low as to recast Victoria with Marley still around. But who else could be a spanner in the works?) Peter phoned to say things had been prepared for him at the church.
Rachel yelled at Mitch. She's being such a pain. Mac appeared. They yelled a lot about Matthew. Enter the child.
Adam went to get a warrant. MJ and Kathleen attempted to reason with Cass. Cass was unreasonable so they started being nice to Scott instead. Vince told them Cheryl was out with Andy O'Connor, son of Becky and Tommy. Kathleen recalls babysitting him. "I still have the scars on my leg where he bit me." Vince defended him. Scott withdrew. Vince complained about Marissa. He showed Kathleen the letter and described the phone call. She liked the letter.
Michael apologised for having been deceitful. He assured Donna all would be well.
Outside Jake assured Marley all would be well. He heard Peter thrashing about in the underbrush and went to investigate. He found nothing. They chatted in unnaturally loud voices about sneaking away from the reception early (for the benefit of the shrubbery, one assumes). Jake went to have a last look at the Family. Peter went inside and ran into Marley.
All is going well for Mitch and Matthew. Matthew went away again. Mitch went away. Mac was left to soothe Rachel. He assured her Matthew was capable of spotting a rotten apple.
Jake was excessively nice to his family. He told them he loved them, collected his tuxedo and vanished. * MJ thought he seemed strange.
Reginald arranged to block Adam's warrant.
Mitch thought about Reginald promising him vast sums of money to find the trump.
Adam reported his failure to MJ and Cass and Kathleen. Cass was pleased to have been proved right and annoyed at having been delayed.
Cheryl returned to Mary's Place near tears. Andy (oh horrors) made a pass at her in the stacks. Scott comforted her. She fled upstairs. Andy appeared. Scott confronted him.
Adam took MJ aside to tell her without Cass overhearing that the name of the doctor was Lewis.
Marley said goodbye to her parents. Donna assured her all would be well. She has accepted Jake. She advised her never to be afraid. Jake appeared. There were tears. Jake and Marley left.
Peter phoned his father.
Mitch worked around the Corys'. Matthew appeared. He got his hands on Mitch's super secret trump bag.
Scott got rid of Andy.
Adam arranged a meeting with Dr Lewis. He missed Cass. He grew apprehensive.
Peter told Reginald something was afoot.
Jake and Marley drove in a storm.
* Ed. Note: "This time it vanished quite slowly, beginning with the end of the tail, and ending with the grin, which remained some time after the rest of it had gone." Inappropriate but pleasant nonetheless.↩
