Cass has found the Lesoleil Woman. Felicia came in and saw the Krystle poster and said he needed professional help.
MJ showed up at home and Kathleen took sisterly fits about never seeing her. MJ lightheartedly tried to escape but Kathleen demanded an explanation.
Mac and Rachel returned from Lake Laurel untanned because Mac hadn't wanted to do anything out-of-doors. I expect we're supposed to excuse him on the grounds that he's been sleeping in the guest room for four months. At least we haven't seen him shirtless or carrying Rachel places. Ada looks very Aunt Dahlia-ish. For one thing she is frequently dutch-uncle-ish and loud of voice and for another she was wearing a straw hat which could be described as 'that hat of hers that looks like one of those baskets you carry fish in' and messing about in as close to any herbaceous border as you'll find on a table in a mansion. She's pleased Rachel and Mac are back to normal and Nancy's better ("She's late, you know, that's what I mean. Well before Perry died she was always late. You could set your clock by her.") The bad times are over.
An associate of Muffy's (by name of Angela) delivered Nancy her Ecstasy. Marley popped up behind her unexpectedly but didn't see anything. She was surprised that Nancy was hanging out with the Muffies. She asked Nancy to celebrate their birthday with the other and Jake. Nancy told her the other had unburdened her conscience and made things worse. "How could Victoria have been so insensitive."
MJ has a lot of work. Kathleen's worried she's on a dangerous case. MJ denied it so vehemently Kathleen apologized. MJ rushed off saying she had to take care of something personal.
Cass told Felicia his Lesoleil Woman was perfect but he wouldn't tell her who it was. He's going to unveil her Friday. So he has to set up dinner with Michaud & Daphne. Felicia asked about HER and Cass enthusiastically said "She is IT she has inner beauty oozing out of her ears." He has to show her to Michaud properly to capture the essence of the romance he sees in her. He needs Felicia's help. She asked what he loved about her. Cass thought about the various degrading situations (orange knees, sopping wet, etc) soulfully and decided she needed an ENTRANCE. Candlelight. Smashing clothes. Flowers. He's off his nut with delight. He kissed her and fled. "Lipstick is on your face. I know that look too. TROUBLE, oho, TROUBLE."
Grant stomped by the Todds'. Chat about football scholarships. Enter MJ and Coach Naylor bearing a full football scholarship for Carter to Bay State.
Jamie brought some things for Kathleen from the office. She prescribed a vacation for him. He asked wistfully after MJ and got disgruntled. Kathleen told him things would get better and MJ had said she was going to see someone special it must be him. She promised if he went back to his office MJ would show. Exit Jamie. Enter Cass on an important mission. "What are you doing Friday night?"
Marley wouldn't have told Nancy until she was ready. She's furious with Victoria. Nancy doesn't want to talk about it. She wants to be left alone. Marley left injured intending to talk to Victoria. Nancy took some Ecstasy.
Cass told Kathleen to show up at the Northwoods Inn at 9:00 on the dot wearing something dazzling. He won't tell her what's going on. They quarrelled. She told him she was tired of people trying to make her over. He told her to wear something calculated to knock Michaud's eyes out and he [Michaud] wouldn't want to change a hair. She said she'd do it for Brava's sake and they galloped off on another glorious quarrel.
Michaud wonders where Cass is for their magazine meeting. Felicia is supposed to choose a magazine for her article on the search for American artists for Lesoleil (could Sally work for Lesoleil somehow?). Gerhard called and Michaud looked completely stricken and disappointed. Felicia was concerned but Daphne told her there was trouble with one of the European branches. She sent her to supervise press kits in Cass' office. Michaud told her THEY had just decided to postpone. "It's over," he said tragically.
Naylor is now head coach at Bay State. Everybody's thrilled. Thanks, MJ. She had to rush for work.
Sally's happy for Rachel. Rachel wants to see Catlin and Kevin. Sally said when Catlin got back in town she'd have her and Mac to dinner. Rachel asked if things were okay with them and Sally told her she was very much in love and she'd never trusted anyone so much in her whole life. Enter Mac. Sally didn't want to stay for dinner. Mac suggested they talk now. Exit Rachel. Sally doesn't want to be coddled. Mac doesn't want to fire her. She's talented and everybody loves her at Cory. If she's unhappy though he wants her to do what she wants to do. She confessed she was just upset because so many things were going on right now. The job AND Catlin's busy with a project she knows nothing about. (Sally, gangster's moll. How sweet.)
Michaud is nowhere to be found and Felicia and Cass have to deal with the magazines embodied by Kathleen and two strangers. Things went badly until Cass announced he'd choose his Lesoleil Woman soon but he was to be an unidentified source. Kathleen (usually very astute) doesn't suspect.
Sally was surprised to see Clarice working at Smiley's. She asked how she was. Clarice is okay but Larryless for good. Sally can't believe that. Clarice told her about the signs of breakdown. (Mysterious errands and phone calls and the only explanation an imploring "trust me".) She says it's too late. "I just hope you hold on to Catlin. He's a Ewing too you know." (The IDEA.)
Jamie dropped by the Corys' with something for Mac. Rachel made him tell her about his MJ troubles. He feels slighted because she's apparently forgotten about him. Rachel told him not to give up on her. He feels neglected. He told her to tell MJ it was too late.
Kathleen followed Cass to his office and demanded to be told everything. He said only she was perfect. She guessed at the nature of this woman but she was off base. He said all kinds of great things about her. Culminating with "She's absolutely the best we have to offer." Enter Felicia who has clued in.
Marley found Victoria.
Nancy's feeling good at the Corys' looking for Chris to apologize for snapping at him.
Cass got rid of Kathleen. Felicia's thrilled. She hit him delightedly and dared him to look her in the eye and say he wasn't doing it out of love. He was evasive. She won't tell. She's thrilled.
