Mitch found Sam doing push-ups and things like there was no tomorrow. Sam had made him come over early. Mitch asked what was up. Sam showed him the [unopened] gift. Mitch was surprised to hear Loretta was in town.
Loretta admired the Romance and the grand piano. Mac found her playing and singing.
Michael sat at Donna's bedside. Nicole watched through the window. When Michael spotted Jamie he rushed out to ask if Donna and the baby would be all right. Jamie looked grave. He said Donna would be fine but the placenta might have started to separate. There is a risk. Nicole remembered she was supposed to appear on Felicia's show. She wanted to cancel but Michael urged her to go on. Michael didn't want to take a phone call until he heard it was from Marley.
Sam muttered something about Loretta's being a risk to the Cory silverware. He told Mitch Loretta couldn't come to the wedding. Mitch didn't want to be the one to tell her. Evidently Loretta dotes on Sam but blames Mitch for the fact that she had to give up her career or something. Mitch left.
Loretta realized who Mac must be. Amanda came in and introduced Loretta to him. Rachel came in and Mac introduced Loretta to her.
Felicia felt the lack of a producer sorely. Wally used to be such a help. Nicole arrived. Felicia was too busy to talk. She hadn't heard about Donna.
Vicky told Jamie she'd seen Lisa kissing André and she figured it had something to do with the Police Department. Jamie looked unthrilled. He suggested Vicky visit with Donna. She didn't think it was a good idea. He said it was. He went away. Vicky peered through the window at Donna.
Nicole cancelled. Felicia assured her it was fine. Nicole ran off. Felicia decided to do the cooking segment first. She ran into difficulties because cameramen can't pitch in and help with props. Union rules. She felt betrayed.
Rachel welcomed Loretta graciously. Loretta is looking forward to meeting Matthew. Lest we forget, he is her grandson. Rachel went to change. Amanda thinks Loretta is wonderful. Mac seems to have some reservations.
The cooking segment was a failure. Mitch soothed Felicia. He told her his mother was in town. Felicia was surprised when he said they shouldn't have her for dinner but she was too busy to pursue the issue. She hasn't read the book about the history of musical theatre.
Loretta had a career in the musical theatre. Amanda dragged her along to run errands. She suggested they stop at Tops. Loretta did not refuse.
Michael spoke encouragingly and lovingly to Donna. When he saw Vicky peering through the window he motioned her to come in. She refused. He came out to find out what was wrong. She referred to Donna as mom. He assured her Donna would be OK and comforted her. Vicky went in. Donna came to.
Loretto was thrilled to see Felicia taping her show. Amanda left her there. Loretta introduced herself as Loretta Kirkland and rattled on about having done Gypsy and Annie Get Your Gun with Ethel Merman and loving Felicia's books. Felicia was flattered.
Mac said Loretta was extraordinarily charming but she should have taken more interest in Matthew all these years. Rachel didn't think it so odd. Mac left as Sam arrived. Sam told Rachel he'd make certain Loretta didn't stay too long. Rachel said she'd sent an open-ended ticket. Sam hadn't known she'd sent a ticket at all. He asked what she'd had to do that for. Rachel advised him to make allowances for his mother. He said she didn't understand the situation. Rachel said marriage and family had brought her closer to her mother. Sam got a little misty-eyed.
Donna was weakly glad to see Vicky. Vicky apologized tearfully for everything she'd ever done. Tears welled up in Donna's eyes. They made-up. They said they loved each other.
Nicole assured Michael the baby would make it. She told him That Old Carrot was still unconscious. Michael refused to listen to her filial anxiety. She asked about the police guards. He didn't want to tell her anything. Vicky came out. Nicole asked Michael if she could see Donna.
Amanda found the unopened gift all battered on the floor. When Sam returned he refused to talk about it. When he heard that Amanda had taken Loretta to see Mitch he was alarmed. When he heard that she had left her at a taping of Felicia's show he cried, "you played right into her hands," and dragged her off to put a stop to it.
Loretta dropped names and told amusing stories. Felicia laughed. She asked Loretta to tape a segment. Loretto was more than willing.
Donna told Nicole she shouldn't have said what she'd said about Elizabeth and Jason. Nicole kissed her and left the field clear for Michael. Donna told Michael she was glad Nicole didn't know what had happened. Michael admitted he might have been trying to make Donna into something she wasn't. He admitted he wasn't perfect either. He told her he loved her and he didn't want her to change. [Yes he does. She should be Anna Stuart.]
