ANOTHER WORLD DAILY SYNOPSIS.

April 23, 1987

Ada and Rachel discussed Nancy. Ada suggested a family coun[cil]. They decided to invite Adam and MJ to help.

MJ welcomed Lisa to the task force. Jamie came in and annoyed Adam by chatting with Lisa. Rachel phoned. Jamie relayed the invitation. They all four are going. Rachel explained the purpose of the dinner to Adam.

Nancy's nerves are frazzled. Sara was concerned. Nancy said she had to give Tony a chance to explain himself. Greg startled her. He suggested they tell Adam. Nancy insisted they give Tony the benefit of the doubt. Sara served Chad. Nancy left with Greg to look for Tony.

Ada explained to Rachel that Greg and Tony suspected each other. Mac said the Corys had to rally round.

Jamie insisted Lisa come. She was nervous. She brought up Queenie and Dixie and Dinah. She asked if they were relatives. He said he doubted it. They're horses. He suggested a ride in the moonlight. Lisa went into the office. Adam and MJ showed Lisa the evidence the public hadn't heard. Adam seemed to be too civil to Lisa for MJ's taste [and mine. Not that he did anything out of the way, but there's something amiss] so she suggested they leave. He made certain Lisa would be at the Corys so they could continue to talk about the case. Val told him someone had been playing tic-tac-toe in the alley behind Mary's Place. "Tic-tac-toe" said Adam. "a game a child would play." [ADAM. I play tic-tac-toe. At the Science Centre, in Physics class. And five days a week people win big prizes on Hollywood Squares.] MJ was similarly skeptical. Adam said this showed the killer had lurked and lurked and waited. It couldn't have been a kid because the marks on the wall are too high. He's patient. [Really. I could get quite sick.] The Xs always win. Could they stand for men, or the killer himself? [Adam went through the whole rigamarole with the losing Os as women.] Enter Zack.

The Corys have a weird butler called Travers. Salmon mousse and caviar are floating about freely, mingling with Ada's lasagna and suspicion of Tony. Jamie arrived. Lisa is coming separately. Mac and Ada were scandalized.

Lisa's car died in a wooded area. The geography of Bay City is beyond comprehension. She remembered dancing with Jamie at dinner. A stranger lurked in the shrubbery.

Zack offered his services as a volunteer. He was an MP in the army, trained in police methods. MJ said she didn't think the commissioner would go for it; Adam offered to deputize him. Zack offered to do tiresome jobs, for Quinn's sake. He has the idea that if he'd been helping sooner the killer would have been caught. Adam said he'd talked to the commissioner. Exit Zack. MJ tangled her fingers up with Adam's. He extricated himself and suggested they get going.

Chad tried to write to his mother. Sara keeps saying how great it is that he's not a suspect any more. Chad set her straight. Nancy came in and took Greg aside to say she couldn't find Tony. Greg advised her to go to the Corys' and said he'd look for Tony and meet her at the apartment. He told her he loved her. Tony overheard a measure of the conversation while skulking in the restaurant.

Lisa found a convenient payphone in the wilderness and reported to the Corys. Jamie said he'd come get her. The stranger — a village idiot in a dark overcoat — emerged from hiding and asked if she wanted help. The idiot is quite harmless and CHILDLIKE-seeming [heavy handed, wot?]. He offered to see if her car were overheated.

Rachel began to wonder if Adam and MJ would be able to tear themselves away from work just as they walked in. [Adam said they wouldn't miss a dinner at the Cory mansion. I was quite startled — I hadn't realized I'd expected him to call it the Cory Romance.] He groused about Tony. Ada told them Nancy was afraid of him for some reason. Adam said Nancy would have told him if she'd found any evidence. Nancy waltzed in and dragged Mac off to talk.

The idiot took his hands out of his pockets to remove the radiator cap. Lisa fled in alarm to see him wearing surgical gloves.

Nancy discovered from Mac that Tony had no work to cause him to drop out of sight. The family ganged up on her. Nancy refused to admit anything was wrong. She stomped out on the terrace. Adam said, rather sharply, "Nancy."

Chad startled Sara. They're alone in the restaurant. She denied being spooked by his suspiciousness. Zack cruised in and promised Chad he'd make him pay if he had killed Quinn. He's suspicious of something about him.

Jamie found Lisa's car abandoned and heard a scream, off. He pursued it.

Adam followed Nancy out. He questioned her. He said it was natural for her to want to protect beloved Tony but her family wanted to protect her. He told her she was like a sister to him [EVERYONE is like a sister to Adam. Well, he said Cheryl was once] but he'd run her in if she withheld evidence.

Sara served Chad a friendly note in his coffee cup. She's not afraid of him. Friends. Chad left. Greg phoned the Corys. Tony lurked.

Lisa and the idiot and Jamie engaged in a merry romp. She screamed a lot.
