ANOTHER WORLD DAILY SYNOPSIS.

August 21, 1987

Mac told Rachel he'd talk to Amanda. Rachel worried about how far Amanda would go. Amanda appeared to answer that.

Peter was cheery for breakfast. Victoria does not regret having missed Amanda's coming-out. Donna came down.

Jamie-and-Lisa type music. About afterglows. Lisa said she'd slept better than she had in ages, thanks to him. He said he'd never let anyone hurt her. She said she'd always love him.

Peter wondered what had happened while he was at the Cory party. Victoria became irrational. Donna insisted she didn't love Marley best. Victoria accused her of treating her like an outsider. Peter phoned Reginald and said Victoria still hadn't seen the pictures. That Old Carrot told him to get his butt in gear.

Felicia greeted That Old Carrot and passed on into a Fowler-Blake fight. Sam is not having Big Luck with his job hunt. Cory's looking for a layout artist. Mitch pointed out that Rachel would be hiring.

Mac told Amanda he'd give her a summer job and then a permanent one once she had her degree. Amanda said she wouldn't take handouts like Rachel (what is the difference between taking a job for which you have qualifications but the added advantage of being the boss' wife and taking a job when you have no particular qualifications except being the boss' daughter? Even if she doesn't intend to use her name, isn't Mac's involvement the thing that gets her hired? Wouldn't it be more in keeping with her professed principles to get a job someplace else? Have I mentioned she's all of 18?) but she refused to go to college. Matthew came in and sided with Amanda. He doesn't intend to go to college either.

Lisa got up to make breakfast. Jamie got up to help. He was more of a hindrance. Distracting her. She made him make coffee. She has his favourite foods. They opened the music box for entertainment.

Amanda told Matthew that she thought college was wrong for HER but it might be right for him. Matthew said he hoped he could do something as cool as this when he got to be her age. Rachel told him frostily it wasn't cool to drop out of school. Amanda said if she regretted her decision she could go back to school later. Rachel took Matthew to clean his room. Julie Anne brought some files to Mac, who went off to play with them. Amanda told Julie Anne her plans. Julie Anne can't understand why she won't go to college and come back and start at the top. Amanda wants the respect of her colleagues: to be seen to be worthy, not just privileged.

Donna told Victoria roundly that she had been miserable, although rich. Victoria was miserable and poor, and feels that was worse. Donna told her she loved her. Victoria was unreasonable. That Old Carrot came in. Victoria stomped out. That Old Carrot asked Donna if she was still married to Michael.

Sam scratched Cory. He blames Rachel for Mitch's 'unfortunate incarceration'. Felicia and Mitch tried to talk him out of it. Felicia advised him not to mention he was related to Mitch. Sam relented.

Jamie and Lisa shared the bathroom. He cut himself shaving. Lisa thought about her decision not to tell Jamie what Really Happened.

That Old Carrot tried to taunt Donna about John. Donna stomped out. Peter came in. That Old Carrot talked about Donna's house of cards. He still has hopes. That Old Carrot suggested Peter transfer the incriminating photographs from Victoria's novel to her raincoat. Donna caught him in the closet but Peter was able to give a convincing excuse. She went out. Victoria appeared and yelled at That Old Carrot. She refused to believe everything he's said a thousand times before. She left. That Old Carrot told Peter that Victoria meant more to him than anyone. Peter was unthrilled. That Old Carrot refused to tell Victoria straight out that state her family's in. She has to find out for herself. Creep.

Sam made an appointment with Rachel. He was disgusted to find she works out of the Romance. Felicia was a little worried about his attitude. (He referred to Rachel as 'her ladyship'.) Sam promised not to mouth off. Lisa came in in a good mood. She was introduced to Sam, who left for his appointment. Mitch left aunt and niece alone. Felicia prodded Lisa for details.

Jamie found Mac and Rachel at home. He told them he'd breakfasted with Lisa. He was pretty exuberant. He fled to get dressed when Amanda was too interested. Mac offered Amanda a ride to the Complex. She refused it. Mac left. The doorbell rang. Amanda slipped away when Rachel took her eye off her to let Sam in.

Lisa loves having her own apartment. She feels good because of Jamie. Mitch came back. Lisa wafted off. Mitch and Felicia wondered how Rachel and Sam would get along.

Sam vehemently described how important layout was in a magazine. Rachel asked him to critique an issue of Brava. He looked at it for about ten seconds and sneered, "Do you want me to tell you the truth, or should I lie and get the job?" Arrogant son of a pig.

That Old Carrot made Peter plant the photographs. Victoria went rushing around after Bridget apologising for the things she'd said about being brought up by an unreal mother. (Bridget had overheard.) Bridget told her she should apologise to Donna, blaming her for That Old Carrot's crimes. Then she perceived Peter's presence. Peter asked Vicky to come to lunch with him. Victoria was leery but agreed when Bridget said she should wait for Donna. Peter reminded her to wear her raincoat. Bridget was seized with a desire to clean out the closet, which desire seemed likely to put a spoke in Peter's wheel.

Rachel assured Sam he could be candid. He blasted Brava for being a conservative newsmagazine. He suggested going after the yuppie market with high-tech pages that would "LITERALLY leap out at them." (Let's thank our lucky stars that Sam doesn't want to be an editor. Lions may literally leap out at one; art, however graphic, usually does not.) He showed Rachel an example. She practically insisted on being allowed to see his serious art.

Lisa and Jamie ran into each other in her apartment. They collided with kisses.

Peter urged Victoria not to throw out the coat in which he had planted the photographs.
