Adam was busy when MJ came into the office. She was a little hurt. They were astounded when Peter Love's name came up as a graduate of a martial arts school.
Scott and Cheryl had to get her a little more dressed before letting the sheriff in.
Michael offered Dirk a vast sum of money, which Dirk refused, to let them go. They held a gun on Donna. They decided to put them both in the dungeon.
Mitch was sent to look at a fuel line. Unfortunately he knows nothing about it.
Cheryl struggled into her clothes and begged Scott not to let the sheriff in. He said they had to. The sheriff came in and showed them a wanted poster of Vince. They both denied ever having met the man.
MJ said she didn't think Peter was a suspect. Adam ordered him called in for questioning. Samuels appeared and told MJ that thanks to Adam she was off Vice. She nearly died of relief. He told her she was off this case, too. She objected to that. Samuel said that Adam had said that Vice was driving her nuts. Adam said he had been trying to make a point and pled to have her put on the serial killer case. He's certain it's a serial killer. MJ pled too. Samuels told MJ she had to rest for a couple of days before she could come back on the case. Exit Samuels. Adam told MJ to take their surprise vacation alone. He booked a room at Pinetree. She didn't want to go without him but he insisted. He wants her to think about Them. They have a potential future. She told him she would think about him the whole time. She said she wanted him to trust her and she needed him to believe she loved him. He said he might be able to join her later. She was pleased. They exchanged promises of devotion etc.
Scott tore the wanted part from Vince's photograph. He and Cheryl set out after Vince.
The guy who sold Vince the cartridges directed him to Bernie's cabin.
The captain ogled Sara. Mitch reported that he wasn't making much headway on the fuel line. He suggested that he go to the castle to stall the people there so they wouldn't interfere. The captain hesitated and Sara convinced him to get rid of Mitch, implying that she would like to be alone with him. The captain gave him directions to the castle. Sara left to do her work. [Why is it that the only tactic women [in Bay City] have any more is sex? Felicia used to wear funny hats. Kathleen made-up stories about her mother in Kansas needing an operation. Sic transit gloria mundi.]
Michael and Donna were told that they were going to be taking a long trip on a boat.
Peter was shown into Adam's office. Adam was less than civil. He asked Peter where he'd been during Maisie's murder. Peter said he'd been working out alone at the club in the Love Tower. Adam asked for corroboration. Peter thought and said Chad Rollo had been there. Adam sent for Chad.
Scott and Cheryl got to the place where Vince had bought the cartridges and found out where he had gone. They were worried when they learned of the target practice.
Mitch told the captors to take a break. There's a delay. Michael suddenly recognized Mitch but gave no sign. He promised everyone vast sums of money. Mitch refused it. He got rid of the other guys. He told Michael he had a Plan.
Peter got Chad to say he'd seen him at 10 and in quick snatches until 12. Adam didn't think it was a sufficiently thorough alibi. Peter made a lot of nasty remarks about policemen. [So different from dear Lord Peter, who has "rather an unwholesome weakness for policemen."] He left. Samuels appeared. Chad overheard Adam tell him where MJ had gone. Adam was civiller to Chad than he had been to Peter. The perfidious Chad promptly looked up the number and location of the Pinetree Inn.
Vince banged on Bernie's door. There was nobody home. He found a note inside saying that the party of the first part had gone to the grocery store. He sat down to wait with his little gun.
We're going to overpower the crew. Michael took Donna aside and told her that Peter had caused her to be kidnapped. She couldn't believe it because Peter loved her. He told her that Sara would meet them with umbrellas which contained knives. [Donna knows nothing of the trial, but she remembers Sara from the baby.] There will be a gun for Michael in the tackle box. Michael was reassuring.
MJ loved her room. She phoned Adam to tell him she missed him. He said he would give anything to be there. He told her all about cooperative Chad. She got a little weird. She told him again she missed him and the room was perfect except for needing another cop. Lots of loving chat. He suggested she keep the bed warm in case he could come up. He promised to phone later. Flowers arrived with a card saying "to my love". MJ swooned.
The flowers are from Chad. He booked a secluded chalet.
Scott and Cheryl stomped through the snow. A vehicle passed them. Scott recognized Bernie. They rejoiced, then sobered lest Bernie have a gun.
Vince greeted Bernie in his cabin and explained his purpose. He said he had to return to Bay City and testify. Bernie refused. Vince waved his gun about. Bernie said he'd have him arrested for trespassing and fled. Scott and Cheryl intercepted Vince at the door and demanded the gun. Vince punched Scott in the stomach and escaped when Cheryl looked to him. They set out in pursuit quite quickly.
Chocolates came for MJ with the same card. She was thrilled. Chad lurked in the corridor.
The boat was made ready. Michael reminded Donna of the Plan. They prepared to go.
