Cass told Nicole he had a surprise for her. Donna dropped by unexpectedly. Cass made his escape. Nicole was peeved with Donna.
Jamie got Dawn's test results. They were horrible.
Amanda felt nausea[ated]. Julie Ann was concerned. Amanda recovered. Sam came looking for Mac but kept going. Amanda doubled up again as Rachel appeared. Amanda insisted she was fine and rushed off. Mac and Rachel asked Julie Ann if Amanda had confided in her. Julie Ann ran off. Rachel seems to have a suspicion. Mac privately reminded Julie Ann to run an errand for him. Amanda ran off to visit Jamie.
Jamie excluded Victoria. He told a guy to run the Eliza test. [?] It's pneumonia and beyond. Vicky apologized for intruding. She tried to get Jamie talking about the party. Enter Chad.
Donna told Nicole she might be able to help Cass get over Kathleen. Nicole thought she was pushing it. She said she wasn't interested in settling down. She's interested in Monte Carlo and dress design. She misses her mother. She has a lousy French accent. She suggested Donna work with her. Donna hesitated. Nicole insisted. Donna went to hide her Christmas parcels in Nicole's bedroom. Michael dropped by to say he'd like to be friends in spite of the divorce. Donna emerged. Nicole rushed off very unsubtly.
Rachel reacted badly to Mac's criticism of her writing. [He wanted her to cut it down.] Mac said he thought Sam was not the man for Amanda. Rachel told him they had to settle things. He promised they would after an important meeting.
Jamie asked Chad if Dawn had had bad friends in New York. Chad got upset. Jamie asked if, for example, he thought Dawn had done drugs. Chad said Dawn wouldn't. Jamie left him to calm down. He refused to say anything about his diagnosis. Amanda took him into his office. She asked hypothetically what if he and Lisa broke up and Lisa was pregnant. He comforted her and left her waiting in the lounge. Adam spotted her. He's hanging about because he has to question a shot cop when he's fit. He thought she'd been crying. Vicky dashed up to insist they come to Lisa's party. [It's so like Adam to make introductions thinking they haven't met when they have. I think it's sweet.] Amanda dashed off to look for Jamie. Vicky told Adam she was hellishly busy. He apologized for not being able to help organize. Mrs. Weller dashed up to chastise Vicky for wasting time. Vicky insisted Adam was desperately in need of emergency care. He obligingly affected a limp and put his arm around her shoulders for support. They got away. Jamie asked Amanda how this had happened, hadn't she followed his instructions? And she said she had and she didn't know. [AAAARGH!] He told her she had to tell Sam. She admitted she still loved him but things were awkward. He said she had to tell Mac and Rachel. She cried on his shoulder.
Nicole went after her surprise. Cheryl interrupted to talk modeling. She headed for Brava. Cass produced an envelope from his pocket.
Donna tried to talk to Michael. He was not interested in what she had to say. She insisted the baby was his. He said that wasn't the problem. She asked his permission to do a prenatal paternity test. He told her to do what she wanted. She dared him to say he didn't love her. He walked out. She looked triumphant.
Nicole tried to give Cass his cheque back. She deduced it was in advance for Kathleen's book. He explained he was doing it for financial gain and he would be her partner. She caved in. They grinned at each other.
Amanda rushed back to work. Adam asked Jamie if she was OK. Jamie said she was. Adams said nice things about Victoria. Jamie told him a little about their being stranded the other day. Adam laughed and seemed to suspect him of gratuitously convincing Victoria she would be warmer in the quilt without her clothes. He thought раздевайтесь ["take off your clothes"] was a very good technique, and stored it away for future use. Exit Adam. Vicky rushed up to insist they talk party.
Rachel came back to talk to Mac. He made Julie Ann give her a Christmas card. There were airline tickets to New York inside it. Rachel was properly grateful. Julie Ann said she'd hold all calls. Enter Amanda. Enter Sam. He told her he wanted to talk to her about the test results. She was stunned.
Donna gloated. She asked about Nicole's surprise.
Lisa made Jamie help her decorate. It put her in mind of the other night.
Sam was interested in the test market for his cover design. Amanda said she'd let him know. Cheryl appeared and asked him to a party when he said he had no more girlfriend. Amanda ran home. Rachel saw her go and decided to go home herself.
Donna observed Cass and Nicole together and decided Nicole was in love with Cass.
Jamie asked about Vicky and Adam. She told him to quit pushing Adam at her. She described, as her ideal man, not a very law and order kind of guy. As she stood on the chair to hang some balloons, she fell into Jamie's arms. Adam waltzed in and looked on in interest.
Amanda holed up in her room, crying. Rachel came in and asked what was wrong. Amanda said she couldn't tell her because she wouldn't forgive her. Rachel assured her she loved her no matter what.
