Greg kept telling Nancy that Tony was guilty. When she looked in the drawer where Tony had left the rent check she found stamp pads from the store where Greg said he'd seen Tony. Nancy confronted Tony. He said Greg was trying to frame him. She said Greg wasn't like that.
Chad wandered around and finally let Jamie and Lisa in. They went to Mary's Place and met Manuel and his mother and helped them celebrate her birthday. Manuel behaved oddly when people mentioned school. Mrs. Mendoza said she taught him at home. They fled because Manuel can't read. Scott and Cheryl left for parts unknown.
Chad remembered a day when he had taken MJ in a bikini [by then slimmed down] to "tar beach" so she could sun herself on the roof. He recalled persuading her to sleep with him. [I thunk evil thoughts. It's very hard not to, with Chad.] later MJ found him on the terrace at Tops he mentioned tar beach. He told her he had never shared it with anyone but her and his mom. Chads mom's great advice was "always keep a tan, son. Girls like tans." He loved the rooftop. He loved sharing it with MJ. It meant a lot. MJ told him it was all in the past. He tried to remind her. She told him to stop it. He asked why she'd come if everything was different. She fled.
Nancy and Tony argued. He told her she should trust him because they loved each other. She became confused. He said Greg hated him. He left her alone to think about it. Greg knocked on the door [he'd come over because she'd been talking to him on the phone when Tony came in and she'd called him mom] . She let him in. She interrogated him about his presence. He said he'd lurked in the hall and hidden in the incinerator room until Tony had left. Nancy became upset because the incinerator room is always locked and one of her arguments against Greg's framing Tony was that Greg couldn't have planted anything without keys. He said the room had been opened. Nancy freaked out. She's very confused. She showed him the stamp pads. He said he'd proved Tony was the killer. Nancy [who had taken Greg's side so vehemently when Tony maligned him] said he couldn't prove anything. He told her Tony had a secret life. Laurie's letter had mentioned a secret life.
Adam found a file called wicked on his computer. He said the killer must have sent him a message.
I forgot — Adam found that Chad had bought the investment tape, too and questioned him mercilessly as usual. He made much of Chad's apparent lack of the sort of disposable income required. Chad claimed he'd bought it with future wealth in mind. Adam was suspicious. [And rightly so. Who can use 1987 investment tips in that kind of nebulous future.]
Ed. modern note: This reads as if I summarized things from memory without going scene-by-scene.
