Joyce arrived and was displeased to find Sam relaxing on the floor with Amanda. They were only sitting and trying to order in by phone, but he's supposed to be busy.) Sam watched in horror when Amanda took Joyce's tacos from her.
Marley asked Jamie if Victoria had a chance of coming out of it.
Chad asked Dawn what was the matter, saw Scott, and glared at him. Chad told Dawn not to bother to continue. He refused to hire her. Everyone protested. Dawn chased after Chad. He kept insisting she was too good to sing in a nightclub. She asked for the real reason. Nicole got excited about her phone messages from Big Stores. She did not despair for long. Zack told Nicole that even if she did get married she might not get total control of her trust fund. Her father is the trustee. Zack asked Cass why he hadn't told her.
Amanda and Joyce bitched at each other. Sam told Amanda to run an errand. (There are tacos for only two.) She gave in with bad grace. Joyce told Sam she didn't like Amanda. He didn't believe she was after him. She left when he assured her he didn't have time to get involved anyway. Enter Mitch. Sam gave him the other taco.
Jamie advised Marley to talk to Victoria a lot. Marley is willing to talk forever if it will help. She went in to chat.
Dawn pled with Chad. She asked about the girl he'd known. He refused to discuss it. Scott took Dawn's side. She threatened to get a job in another club where he couldn't keep an eye on her. He fell. She squealed and hugged him. He left her with Scott. Scott tried to convince her that her feelings for him were greater than her reluctance to hurt Cheryl. Cass assured Nicole he'd told her and she'd forgotten. Zack said That Old Carrot could keep the money from her if her marriage wasn't convincing. Cass appears to have only a tentative grasp of the law. Nicole said she'd get married anyway.
Amanda bitched to Julie Ann about Joyce. Julie Ann accused her of wanting what she couldn't have, to spite Rachel. Enter Rachel, fresh from personnel.
Marley chatted about bone marrow. She told Victoria that she loved her and talked about Michael and Donna. Victoria's spirit sat up.
Rachel told Amanda there was an opening for a research assistant. Amanda refused to take it. Rachel accused her of wanting to cling to Sam. She wouldn't tell her why she didn't like him.
Mitch made Sam promise to introduce him as his brother to someone soon.
Cass tried to talk Nicole out of it. When she wouldn't budge, he stomped off. Wally showed her a mention of her fashion show in Brava. Her attention was caught by the man on the cover -- Stephan Fraser, Bay City's MOST ELIGIBLE BACHELOR, whom Wally knows from the track. Nicole asked him to fix her up with a view to marriage. Scott pled with Dawn. He smiled confidently and left her to think on it.
The spirit railed at Marley. It accused her of feeling guilty about Jake. Marley, of course, did not hear. Victoria looked at her face and decided it wasn't guilt but pity. She told her about Donna and John. She said she wanted her to tell Michael.
Felicia accused Cass of caring about Nicole. Cass said he cared about the White Sox. Nicole came out and insisted on speaking to Cass alone. Felicia went in. Zack told Felicia Cass was awful forgetful these days. Felicia put it down to grief. Exit Zack. Wally told Felicia he'd fixed up Nicole and Stephan Fraser and he thought he had a career as a matchmaker. Felicia warned him Cass wouldn't approve.
Sam and Joyce sort of made up over the phone. Sam told Mitch he didn't want Joyce to move in but he couldn't tell her. Mitch told him it shouldn't be that hard. Exit Mitch. Enter Amanda. Sam asked her if she wanted to go to a gallery opening.
Cass told Nicole he'd let her get married on condition that he get to vet the groom. He suggested Mr Chen, ancient Chinese restaurateur. Nicole refused to let him interfere. He said Stephan Fraser wore boxer shorts. Nicole said she'd buy him new underwear and went in. Cass took a couple of puffs on a cigarette and cursed.
Sam gave Amanda both tickets. She was disappointed that it wasn't a date. He saw she was hurt and told her he had a rule against dating co-workers. She said it was a good rule. He watched her leave.
Nicole kissed Wally when he told her about the date. Felicia told her Pierre's was romantic. Cass offered to make a reservation. Nicole was suspicious and sure enough Cass asked Pierre for a favour.
Marley told Jamie she'd had a funny feeling that Victoria had been trying to reach her. He told her not to give up. She went back in. The spirit begged for help.
