ANOTHER WORLD DAILY SYNOPSIS.

July 16, 1987

Large portions of July are missing due to the Iran-Contra hearings, starring Oliver North. (Ed. Note: Episodes are not missing from the chronology unless specifically noted; they just didn't air on consecutive days.)

Donna was concerned. John saw her face, a little blurry.

Vince tried to tie his tie. Cheryl got him to spray her hair. Scott came in with a tie in need of bowing. Mary came in and Vince was floored, she looked so beautiful.

MJ told Adam she was sorry and tried to touch him. He avoided her hand and walked across the room. She begged him to believe she loved him. He didn't say anything for a bit. Then he started to talk about how he'd recognised her and couldn't believe it. MJ: I want to talk to you about it. Adam: Just tell me it isn't true. MJ: tell you what isn't true? Adam: what the tape made it look like. (I want to know: what DID the tape make it look like? What does a video of MJ having sex with another man mean to Adam? Has he gone through life comparing how prostitutes have sex with the way other women have sex, and if so, how come he didn't recognise the technique sooner? Or did he assume she was Bay City's answer to Marilyn Chambers (or Linda Lovelace, or Watergate)? Or did he just not like actually knowing that there were other men in the world?) Tell me somebody set you up. Tell me SOMETHING. MJ: Nobody set me up. Adam: Well then it's a joke. This has got to be some kind of cruel joke somebody's playing on us, right? Say it. SAY IT. MJ: No, it's not a joke. It was me. I used to be a prostitute. I was a hooker. Adam stared.

Donna gave John more painkillers and insisted on phoning Jamie. John found he could see colours and shapes. Donna noticed John looking at her.

Mary worried about where MJ could have gone. Vince tried to reassure her. Mary gave up trying to explain how MJ was more than usually nervous. Cheryl tied Scott's tie. Becky came in in her dress and Cheryl's shoes. Everyone said how sweet she was. Vince and Scott left for Tops for the pre-wedding bridegroom toast.

Adam: You were a PROSTITUTE? MJ: Yes. Adam: How long ago? MJ: I don't know, maybe -- five years ago? Adam: I want to know EXACTLY. MJ: Why? What difference does it make? All I know is that it was a long time ago. Adam: What did you do, did you WALK THE STREETS? MJ: No. Adam: How much did you charge? Did you get two weeks' paid vacation every year? MJ: Please don't do this. Adam: WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO? MJ: Love me. Adam: Why? Why, MJ, why did you do it? MJ: I needed something, I guess. Adam: Don't we all. MJ: Maybe I was desperate. Maybe I was desperate to be loved. Adam: That's what you call love? Having somebody pay you to have sex with him, that's what you call LOVE? MJ: Maybe I thought it was. I don't know. Adam: NO. I don't believe that. You couldn't have thought that. Somebody FORCED you into this, didn't they. That's what it is. That's what it is. You didn't have any choice about this. MJ: No. No. I made the choice. I did it because I wanted to feel beautiful -- and desirable. And cared for. Adam: But you ARE beautiful and you ARE desirable and you ARE cared for. MJ: Well I wasn't THEN. Nobody ever told me that. Nobody ever even told me I was pretty. Adam: (waving the tape) And THIS makes you feel pretty? THIS makes you feel loved? MJ: I didn't have you then. I didn't have you -- to make me feel loved. I was very, very alone. Adam: MJ, there are lots of other ways of dealing with your loneliness. MJ: I didn't know that then. Adam: WELL WHY DIDN'T YOU? WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH YOU, you're not a child, there's nothing wrong with your MIND. Come on, MJ, try and make some sense out of this. MJ: I'm TRYING, please, just give me a chance, okay? Adam: Why now? Why are you telling me this now, two HOURS because you're supposed to become MY WIFE? MJ: (sobbing) I -- I couldn't let you marry me without knowing the truth. Oh, god. I PRAYED that you wouldn't see that tape. I wanted to tell you myself. Adam: You're a little late, aren't you?

John told Donna he'd talk to Jamie and sent her to get him some ice so she wouldn't hear he could see. Ho told Jamie and Jamie said he'd be right over.

Jamie told everyone he had to be going. And he'd meet them at the wedding. Mac is proud to be related to Adam and pleased as punch that he will soon be related to MJ. Chad looked less than thrilled.

MJ told Adam she had wanted desperately to prove herself by becoming a singer and she'd tried and tried but was unable to get an audition. Everyone told her she had to know somebody. So she got to know people and became a prostitute without realising it. Adam yelled at her for being stupid and having no self-respect. MJ told him he couldn't possibly hate her more than she'd hated herself. He asked why she'd waited so long to tell him. He brought up the honesty thing. She told him she had been too frightened to tell him. He accused her of not trusting him. She said she'd known it would make a difference and she hadn't wanted to risk losing him. She had spent a very long time putting it out of her mind. Adam became unnecessarily cruel. She told him it had been the worst time of her life and she'd been miserable. She said they had so much but looking at him knew he didn't love her any more.

John told Jamie he didn't want to get anyone's hopes up. He described what was happening. Jamie told him he didn't want him taking any more medication. He left for the wedding. John watched Donna walk back to her room.

As far as I can see, Mary is dressed in white, Becky is dressed in white, Cheryl is dressed in white, and Felicia is dressed in white. This is no way to run a wedding. Mary might be tinged with pink. Mary showed Felicia her wedding picture to show the dress. She wondered about her wedding a little. Felicia provided her grandmother's necklace from Ireland as something borrowed.

MJ cried and begged Adam to tell her how he felt. He said one didn't just stop loving someone but admitted he didn't feel the same way as he had before seeing the tape. He said he didn't know her. She said she was still the same. He said he didn't know who she was at all. She cried harder and left. Adam cried and smashed the tape with his bare hands and threw it around the room.

Sara has a surprise basket for Chad. She told him to go change into his swimming trunks and meet her on the roof. Felicia returned. Mac told her Adam had stood the toast up. He said nothing would go wrong. Cass and Kathleen are supposed to be coming in from Alaska.

Jamie arrived at the wicked bachelor pad and found Adam staring out the window looking utterly desolated. He asked what the matter was. Adam told him it was none of his damn business. Jamie asked if he'd fought with MJ. Adam said he had. Jamie told him they'd make it up because he knew MJ. Adam looked at him funny and said "Do you?" MJ came knocking on the door saying she had to see him. Adam stared.

Things came into focus for John a little. He looked at the clock and the painting above the mantel and yelled for Donna. She came a-running and he looked at her. He just stared.

Vince and Scott came back to pick up the McKinnon women. Mary worried because MJ wasn't there and she'd had no answer at Adam's. Scott took Becky and Cheryl on ahead. Vince told Mary that Adam and MJ were probably together. Mary said she worried about an accident and then she thought MJ might be with Chad. This was news to Vince but he assured Mary that Chad wouldn't stand in the way of this wedding. They took MJ's dress and left.

Jamie left Adam and MJ alone. She told Adam she'd been driving around not knowing where to go and reminded him that a lot of people were waiting at the church for them. She said she knew which MJ she was: the one who loved him with all her heart and wanted to marry him. She begged him to marry her.
