Felicia woke Cass to discuss the problems in her love life.
The head volunteer presented Vicky with a perky pink size 8 uniform. Don't bug doctors and avoid the emergency treatment area. Vicky watched Lisa worry. Jamie: I don't understand what you're so nervous about. This is my FAMILY we're talking about. Lisa: that's why I'm nervous. Jamie: and this party was your idea. Lisa: I know, I have these lapses sometimes. Jamie: they are going to love it. Would you trust me, please? It's a great way to get to know them, too. You trim the Christmas tree, and you have hot buttered rum — Lisa: what if they hate EVERYTHING? Jamie: well you'll know about it. They turn in score sheets at the end of the evening.
Amanda dreamed about Sam. She awoke to harsh reality and phoned to make an appointment about a problem with birth control. Enter Rachel. Amanda hung up in a hurry. Rachel tried to get her to admit she was unhappy over Sam. Amanda was evasive. Eventually she admitted she missed him but it was over and she had to live through it.
Jamie assured Lisa his family was crazy about her already. He suggested Vicky could help her but Lisa said it was all right. Vicky wished her luck and went to change. Jamie kissed Lisa and got to work. Lisa left. Vicky dashed back and arranged to meet with Jamie about the surprise party.
Felicia provided Cass with breakfast including STICKY BUNS. [Need I remind you of Dominique?] He asked what was up. She asked if anyone else had read Kathleen's journal and was perturbed to find out there were two copies and Mac wanted to publish right away and MITCH WAS WORKING ON THE PROJECT. Cass very helpfully said "Heimlich?" when she choked. She recovered. Cass assured her he knew she and Mitch were involved. She let on she didn't want it broadcast that she and Cass had had an affair. Cass realized that the Mitch thing was more serious than he had supposed. She would like to tell Mitch before he reads it. [The episode shouldn't loom so large in the journal. It WAS before Kathleen's time.] Cass tore the pages out for her. Felicia was grateful.
Dawn brought home a star for her tree with Scott. He reprimanded her for going out. He insisted she get into bed. She got out to put the star on the tree and fell over.
Amanda left for work. Rachel told Mac they had to resolve their problems. Mark was summoned to the office. Rachel was frustrated.
When Felicia returned home Mitch had breakfast waiting for her. She hid the pages in a magazine. He behaved stiffly when she said she'd been visiting with Cass. She said she had lied only to protect Cass whom she cared about. He thinks she puts Cass ahead of him. He put some magazines into his bag and left for Brava. [One was Cosmo but the other was more landscapey.]
Scott found Dawn's fever was even higher. Mary dropped by, having been summoned. She insisted on taking Dawn to the emergency room.
Vicky got her break but Jamie was too busy to plan. Mrs. Weller saw her pestering a doctor and swooped down.
Sam and Amanda ran into one another and behaved civilly. Sam went into Mac's office to drop off some sketches. Amanda admitted to Julie Ann she hadn't started her period yet. [She has gone off the pill — evidently she holds out no hope for a reconciliation.]
Mitch advised Sam not to deny his feelings.
Amanda assured Julie Ann she had a doctor's appointment. Sam emerged from Mac's office, overheard, and asked why. Amanda told him it was research. He would have been concerned if she had been sick.
The meeting for Kathleen's journal got under way. The manuscript pages fell out of one of Mitch's magazines and he picked them up.
Felicia found a foolproof recipe for Lisa and assured her that the Corys loved her for making Jamie happy. She went to write a note to have Gerard make a dessert and missed the magazines. She rushed out to catch Mitch.
Jamie assured Scott and Chad they'd find out what was wrong. He apologized to Vicky for being so busy.
Amanda rushed off to the doctor's. Rachel ran into Felicia waiting for Mitch.
Mitch read what he'd found.
Rachel asked Julie Ann to make sure Mac knew she was there.
Donna told Jamie she didn't like hospitals. She was in a bad car accident about five years ago. He asked if her parents had been healthy. She was not very helpful. He went to check her test results. She tried to escape. Chad and Scott restrained her. She collapsed.
Felicia had to rush to Tops to prevent Gerard from quitting. Mitch emerged and ignored Julie Ann's cry that he had a message.
Rachel went into Mac's office where the meeting was over. She apologized for lying. He was reluctant to forgive her. She gave up.
Jamie's car refused to start. Vicky would not let him drive her car this time, but agreed to chauffeur him around. She had fought with Michael, so she's in no hurry to get home.
Felicia told Cass she'd resolved her restaurant problems but hadn't found Mitch. He kissed her at the door. She went in and found Mitch with the incriminating pages.
Amanda told the doctor she couldn't be pregnant. She admitted she hadn't completed a full cycle before having sex. The doctor said she could be pregnant.
