ANOTHER WORLD DAILY SYNOPSIS.

September 11, 1985

Nancy found Chris brooding on figuring out that Daphne had been the teenage mistress and running into Carl. He fled to sulk alone. Nancy wants to help him.

Victoria was relegated to the upstairs rooms so Donna could NOT confide in Mr Bedsoe. She has a plan. [Mr Bedsoe: you know the more I hear the worse this sounds. Will you please tell me what you're going to do because it sounds to me like something we'll regret. Donna: Just trust me. Mr Bedsoe: I hate it when clients say that.]

Brittany found Larry in Smileys and told him she wanted detective, singular. She doesn't want Catlin to know just yet. She showed him something and said Evan was alive and she wanted him found. Larry told her to calm down. I think she's found a picture of a child in the newspaper or something and she insists it's Evan. Larry said Willa had identified the body. Britt pointed out that Willa had identified her body too. He told her the chances were slim but agreed to do it. She said they had to talk to Adrienne about Willa. He'd rather talk to the photographer but she insisted. He asked why she didn't want to tell Catlin and she said righteously that some people would accuse her of trying to worm her way back into Catlin's good graces. [She means Liz.] Enter Catlin.

Daphne saw Rachel's sketch and asked where she'd got the idea. Rachel told her the back of Nancy's ring. Daphne was interested. Enter Nancy. Exit Rachel.

Donna won't let Jim Bedsoe be present when the sheriff drops by. He is gripped with a nameless fear. He threatened to withdraw his services. She told him a long and convoluted story about the senior partner of his law firm having been pinned to her mother ages ago and he [His head spinning, I presume] gave in. Enter Jake disposed to be friendly and polite for Victoria's sake. Donna said merely "I am being lectured by an amoral gigolo. Even his appearance speaks of his class." Jake retired in disgust. Enter Victoria asking for Jake and telling Donna who said he was gone and good riddance she couldn't treat him like that. She pursued Jake and argued with Donna about him. Donna said she could talk to him for two minutes, no more. Exit Donna. Jake can't stand her. Victoria took her part because she's her mother. She does think she's too hard on Jake. Jake dispersed as Victoria told him Donna would come round eventually and in the meantime they'd be thinking about each other.

Brittany slithered away. Catlin asked Larry about Clarice. Catlin himself is keeping bachelor's hall and he's terribly lonely. Sally's away. Kevin's at school. Catlin wanders about the cabin [like a lost soul] gibbering. But at least the hairdresser etc aren't there. Larry's schedule is such that he can't make the meetings Catlin sets up. And it's not Clarice [a forgivable distraction].

Daphne asked Nancy to play tennis. Two sweet things. She wants to see the ring.

Chris thought about his father telling him about hundreds of millions. Enter Brittany to use the pool. Exit Chris.

Nancy fished around with Rachel to find out what she should do about Chris to see if it would be wicked and interfering to play tennis with Daphne. Rachel told her it was perfectly ok. They think Daphne's weird and distant and has a wicked backhand.

Ned told Jake about how he had raised the car from a child and Victoria had made off with it. She treated him bad unless she wanted something. Ned hates being in Lassiter and he hates Vic. He wants to get even. Jake would rather talk than see some one get hurt. Ned just wants to blast Vic. Said Ned "You ain't thinking about duking it out for your baby, is you?" [I collapsed.] He taunted him and produced boxing gloves. Jake was distressed to find the situation had slipped away from him. Ned's a real good championship boxer. Sounds of fighting. [Ned sounds like he says McKenna a lot.]

Adrienne was pleased to have a visitor in the form of Brittany. After chatting for a while Britt asked about Willa, if she'd mentioned identifying the bodies. It turns out Willa could have been tremendously stoned when she identified them.

Daphne assured Nancy she hadn't known Frederick Chapin nor would she have wished to. She asked to see the ring. Nancy told her it was very important to her. Daphne did something weird [took an imprint?] and compared it to something else and breathed funny.

Larry and Adrienne got along real swell. Nights are awful. Things are about the same with Clarice. Adrienne wants him to be happy. She gave him a letter and told him his visits meant everything to her. She left.

Chris is moping around looking for Nancy. Rachel gave him a letter from Cairo and wandered out. The letter was from some unspellable Egyptian saying he had something for him from his father. NO said Chris.

The sheriff came to see Donna. She banished Mr Bedsoe and sympathetically told the sheriff she knew he was busy and underpaid and the charges against Vic were silly so why waste time. She produced her chequebook.

Nancy avoided telling Chris about her Daphne visit. Instead she asked about the crumpled letter in his fist. He told her she could read it and threw it to her. It was unfortunately creased beyond recognition so he told her what it said. He doesn't want the thing from Egypt. He asked where she'd played tennis and she confessed everything almost hysterically. He took fits so she stormed out.

Catlin is looking at Larry too funny for Larry's liking. Catlin is of the anti-Adrienne brigade. He can't think what Larry sees in her. Larry said she needed him. Catlin [like MJ before him] started up raving about what if Clarice needed him more. Larry showed him the letter from Adrienne. Catlin said he didn't want to read it and they shoved it back and forth on the table in front of them [in a manner not unlike those kids in the Life cereal commercial, you know, I don't want to try it, you try it, I don't want to try it, you try it, let's get Mikey, he eats anything, except of course Catlin did in fact take it up in the end. No Mikeys here.] "dear Larry I wanted to write this letter to tell you how much I appreciate your help. I lean on you, I need you, I want you." Catlin sounded slightly sick over that last bit and he stopped, whether it was for want of further letter or just lack of stomach to go on I don't know. He told Larry Adrienne was using him as a white knight. Larry left for the waterfront.

Brittany rubbed suntan lotion on her revolting stomach and thought about lounging about in bed with Josh discussing the possibility of having recently conceived a child [I went out into the hall, the better to hide her indiscretions from my sensitive ears.] She whispered that they'd find Evan.

Daphne had her professor over again and he was rather too inclined to digress but eventually told her there were two keys, a ring and a pendant. [The ring and pendant are the keys, not as well as.] Daphne can't think who would have the pendant.

Nancy had Rachel help her put on the pendant Chris gave her in order to make amends with Chris.

Ned and Jake sparred. Jake told Ned he'd whip him good. They're all sweaty and dirty and Jake's are brave words but before I knew it he'd fallen down and something resembling a bookcase had fallen on top of him. Ned yelled that he was never going to get up.

Donna kept on being sympathetic. The sheriff was noncommittal but she took his silences as compliance and wrote out a cheque for $1000. She asked how one went about having the charges dropped and he said she was under arrest for attempting to bribe him. He produced the cuffs and the Look on Donna's face!
