Victoria told Michael she wanted to work with him. He was surprised at her enthusiasm and told her not to overextend herself. He said he had to meet with Zack. She guessed it was about divorcing Donna.
Dawn let herself into Scott's room and sat down at the piano. Someone knocked. She thought it was Scott and told him to come in. That Old Carrot opened the door and [apologetically] said she seemed to be expecting his son.
Felicia and Wally were surprised when Cass appeared at Tops without Nicole. He said he'd been summoned by Zack. Zack overheard. This was news to him. Cass said he'd got a message. Zack said he should have called to confirm. Felicia was suspicious. [I was fairly certain Cass had made it up yesterday. It must be that woman.]
Dawn let That Old Carrot in to wait. She seemed awkward. He approved of their relationship and invited her and Scott to dinner. He talked about her music. He told her he wanted only the best for Scott. Scott came in and ordered That Old Carrot out. Dawn was shocked. Scott said he wasn't his father any more.
Michael said he didn't want to talk about it. Victoria told him she loved him. Adam appeared and was glad to see Victoria up and around. [He exhibits all the signs of a man who has been without a storyline for a few months, excessive flirtatiousness being uppermost among them.] Michael thanked him for the time he'd spent looking for Donna's attacker. Adam didn't want to dwell on it. Michael went to meet Zack. Adam sat with Victoria and was surprised to hear she and Michael had moved out. She said she was fine but it was hard on Michael. She said life wasn't fair. He said sometimes even good guys got burned.
That Old Carrot offered his congratulations and connections. Scott refused to be kept in his back pocket. He said he wasn't Peter and asked him to leave. That Old Carrot thanked Dawn for her kindness and left. Dawn told Scott he should give his father the benefit of the doubt. Scott didn't think much of her advice.
Victoria suggested there was no point in playing by the rules. Vince appeared, perhaps a little aloof in his manner. He said they hadn't seen him [Adam] around lately, and Adam said he'd been busy, and Vince asked if he'd been breaking in a new partner. [It was killing.] Adam asked after MJ. Vince said she called occasionally and they missed her. Adam said he did too. Vince said she'd come back if he [Adam] asked her. Adam looked away. Vince walked off. Victoria said this was an example of a good guy playing by the rules and getting kicked in the teeth. Adam said it wasn't exactly a textbook example and asked her out to dinner. Jamie overheard and teased Adam about it. Adam left. Jamie suggested they go to a Woody Allen film fest. Victoria asked [rhetorically] what they were waiting for, and was annoyed when he answered "Lisa." Lisa arrived with a message from the hospital which had been thwarted because his beeper wasn't working. Jamie left her with Victoria, who seemed less than thrilled. Lisa was pleased enough. Without Jamie's Woody-Allen-fanatic influence, Lisa is willing to do something else. Victoria feels he has shed new light on good guys.
Felicia gave Cass the opportunity to admit he'd left Nicole to give himself a chance to sort himself out. He told her everything she wanted to hear and left. Michael met Zack and told him he and Donna had separated.
Victoria chatted to Lisa about trust and love. She couldn't get Lisa to admit that she [Victoria] was more screwed up than she [Lisa] was. Lisa told her she thought she was a good person. Victoria said Marley was the good sister. She was hurt that Jake hadn't come to see her in the coma. They exchanged confidences, to a certain extent. Victoria told Lisa she was lucky to have Jamie. Lisa said she'd get a Jamie too someday. Victoria said she didn't think there were enough of them to go around.
Michael asked Zack to be discreet. Zack agreed, reluctantly. Felicia took a moment of Michael's time to talk about Donna. Michael appreciated her effort but did not change his mind about Donna and John. Wally told Felicia Cass reeked of perfume not Nicole's.
Cass poured two glasses of champagne in his room and waited impatiently. He let a woman in and reprimanded her for leaving her scarf so close to Nicole. She could have ruined everything. The woman — a rather redheaded woman — insinuated herself into his arms. He murmured French endearments to her [well, he told her she loved him too much]. Nicole phoned. Cass rang off when Wally knocked on the door. He hid the redhead.
Jamie reappeared, cutting off Lisa's hints that her past could resurface.
Scott told Dawn he didn't know who his real father was and he wished he did. The same goes for his mother, although he has a good one. Dawn said she had told all her school friends her mother was an opera singer who lived in Australia [to explain her not visiting]. Her father is supposed to have died before she was born. Being alone made her self-reliant. Scott feels the same way. She told him the arms of the guy one loved were better than those of a father.
Victoria would not be bullied into going to the movies as a third wheel. Jamie went to phone Adam for her, much to her chagrin. Vince got a letter from the courthouse.
Scott and Dawn have a lot in common. She told him his wardrobe needed work if he was to be a member of the bar. He pretended his feelings were hurt.
Cass let Wally in. Wally told him that Rusty Lady was running in the Belmont. Cass rushed him out. He brought the redhead out of hiding and sent her on her way. She dropped her scarf on the floor, kissed him, and left. He said it would all be over very soon.
Vince got the final divorce decree. Ada tried to talk sense to him.
