ANOTHER WORLD DAILY SYNOPSIS.

February 9, 1988

Cheryl assured Jason that Mary had left a while ago. He wasn't convinced. Mary came downstairs. She was reluctant to go out to the Love mansion with him again. He was annoyed to hear she'd called Adam. Adam walked in and said he'd have to live with it.

That Old Carrot stared at a picture of himself and Nicole in a wig [i.e. Elizabeth]. His saboteur tried to bring him up to date on his plans for Nicole but he was too busy brooding about Mary's memory to enjoy it.

Mac and Rachel stared out of the windows. Jamie walked in. Rachel was disappointed he wasn't Amanda. Mac said he was afraid he was going to lose Amanda for good. Amanda walked in. She did not submit to embraces. Mac got off on the wrong foot. Mac and Rachel left her to talk to Jamie. She told Jamie Mac would never like Sam.

Jason dug in his heels but Mary persuaded him to talk to Adam in the kitchen. Dawn insisted on going to school. Scott said he would go with her. She told him to go to work. He left. Cheryl came over and was too solicitous for Dawn's liking. She [Dawn] snapped at her [Cheryl] and left.

Mary told Adam what she'd remembered. He was stunned, because the police report made no mention of any gunshot wound and said Elizabeth had committed suicide and died of smoke inhalation. Jason mocked him for believing in police reports. He said the police were more interested in closing cases than getting off their asses. Adam told Mary he didn't think her evidence would be worth much. They need proof. Enter That Old Carrot. "Proof of what?" Mary and Jason left Adam to remind That Old Carrot that murder was a capital crime. [I often think that no one [in real life] would ever get capitally punished for the piddling murders committed on soaps. It seems to take rather a lot to warrant it.] He [Adam] vowed to get him [Carrot].

Cheryl asked Mary what was going on with Jason. Mary distracted her with telling her she remembered bathing her. They cried a little over Wally. Mary ran into That Old Carrot on her way out. He congratulated her on her returning memory. She assured him it was only partial and her doctor was pleased. He wanted to know who her doctor was. She told him she didn't want to discuss it with him and fled. Dawn dashed into Mary's Place. Cheryl asked about her class. "They will do anything to keep me out of there," Dawn replied, and stomped to another part of the room.

Jamie reminded Amanda that Mac had cause to dislike Sam. Amanda told him if things didn't get better she and Sam might leave town. He told her not to do it just because Sam wanted to. Amanda said Mac's behaviour might force them to leave. Rachel overheard.

Dawn cried at a table. Scott came in and asked what had happened. She told him the Dean and people had suggested she take private lessons. Scott vowed to fight discrimination. Dean Whitney approached. Scott introduced himself as Dawn's lawyer.

Rachel told Amanda she didn't have to let Sam make her decisions. Amanda admitted she didn't want to go.

Lisa refused to divulge anything to the press. When the guy called her honey, she was steamed enough to threaten to burn his press pass in her capacity as community affairs representative. The press slunk off. Adam was impressed. He told her he was frustrated, not being able to prove That Old Carrot had killed his wife.

Jason tried to help Mary remember something further. It occurred to him that it was strange that Elizabeth's furniture had survived the fire so well. Mary asked how come he was so familiar with the room. He tried to avoid the question. She deduced that he and Elizabeth had been having an affair. He admitted it.

The Dean said that it was the students who were afraid of Dawn and keeping her out of class. Scott didn't believe him. Dawn said she wasn't going anywhere.

Jamie suggested Mac be happy. He proposed a stag party for getting to know Sam. Mac didn't like the idea. He resisted Jamie's other suggestions, too. Jamie reminded Mac that Amanda loved Sam.

Rachel and Amanda planned the wedding.

Adam and Lisa couldn't find any mention of a gun. Roxanne the receptionist brought in a report on That Old Carrot's French saboteur. Adam felt he was too clean.

Amanda told Julie Ann she was getting married in a couple of weeks. Rachel booked the church where Amanda had been christened and went to ask the art department to do the invitations. Amanda asked Mac if they could talk.

That Old Carrot told the saboteur he'd have to deal with Mary.

Mary asked Jason if he'd loved Elizabeth. He said he had. Elizabeth had been about to run away with him. The suicide note was just a goodbye letter to her kids. Jason spotted a mark in the wall and dug out a bullet with his knife. They were thrilled.

Dawn burst into tears at her piano. Scott came in and embraced her comfortingly. She was reminded that other people were afraid to touch her. He said he knew better. He promised her she'd graduate. She's willing to prosecute the school for the betterment of society. They're in love.

Amanda told Mac that Sam thought they should move if he didn't make him welcome. Mac thought it sounded suspiciously like blackmail. Amanda stomped out.
