As Chris walked along the hospital corridor he was pulled into a room by Nancy the candy striper. Quoth she: "this is an ambush, hombre" and kissed him.
Donna's going home. She assured Marley all would be well if Marley were living there. Marley said she and Jake would stop by every day. Donna started hyperventilating at that. Marley was alarmed.
Zane arrived at Edouard's. "I'm here to help."
Cass showed up at the Northwoods Inn. Without having seen Kathleen. Felicia and Wallingford were thrilled to see him but upset to hear he hadn't paid his love a visit.
Nancy and Chris are going to meet Tom and Carter at the Northwoods Inn. He went to answer his beeper.
Felicia and Wally tried to prevent Cass from checking his coat but he got upset. He told Felicia he wanted to see Kathleen but he wasn't sure that his visits helped. He doesn't know what to say to her. He's gloomy but he doesn't want to make her cheer him up. Felicia advised him not to treat her differently. He said he hadn't killed Daphne but he would so love to kill Carl. Felicia told him to see Kathleen. He thinks he's too big a jerk to be any comfort but she told him to go.
Fayez asked Terry where Carl kept his passport. Terry said it was every man for himself.
Zane told Edouard Felicia was to be his wife and he had to leave her alone. Edouard said it was up to Felicia. Zane told him he took care of Felicia and Ed made her take care of him.
When Marley said she was going to get a doctor Donna immediately said she was fine. Marley saw through her at once and said she should leave because she was upsetting her. Donna assured her she was fine and had her stay. She wants all the Loves to be together for Christmas. She loves Victoria but she needs Marley to make things run smoothly. Peter is no help because of his imitation Annie Oakley. Marley laughed and said she loved her. Donna said she didn't. Marley said she never changed and wanted everyone to do what she wanted. She said she [Donna] should have married her [Marley's] father and gone to live on the farm. Marley is going to do what she thinks will make her happy. Donna: you have changed so much. Marley: no I haven't. I've just stopped trying to fool you. Enter Nancy with a stack of newspapers. Exit Marley. Donna looked in the paper and said "why I wasn't I told?"
Jake is visiting Kathleen. He's having a hard time knowing what to say. He told her how great Marley had been. Enter Marley. Kathleen begged them to get married because she loves weddings. Enter Cass.
Zane met Felicia in the Northwoods Inn and informed her that Edouard was a weasel who was using her. She said she knew. She doesn't care if her friends use her but she doesn't like it upsetting him. They had a fight about it being her prerogative to let Edouard walk all over her. She wants him to understand her helping her friend. Zane said he understood and stomped out.
Cass complained about the rotten view from Kathleen's window. She told him to calm down. She wants to hear him complain about the slammer. Cass: my cellmate snored a lot and he left the lights on all night. Kathleen: that's it? Cass: my cot was lumpy. Kathleen: Cass, you know I've heard you complain for hours when the hollandaise sauce wasn't lemony enough. Cass: that's when I was a jerk. I've changed. Kathleen: well don't change. There are plenty of people out there who are mature, and responsible. There's only one you. He wants to talk about weddings.
Donna was vacant. Carl's death has hit her rather strangely. Nancy was relieved when Peter appeared. She fled. Donna told Peter she felt nothing, not even elation. She thinks they can get their money back. He left. She got out of bed and began to pack jubilantly. Jake appeared. "hi Donna. How are you doing?" And quirked a perfectly killing eyebrow at her. He told her he cared more about Marley than he did about himself and he'd be taking care of her from here on in. He informed her they were getting married and advised her not to try to stop them. He said they both saw through her and this stunt was hurting Marley so they should try to get along for Marley's sake and she could lose Marley altogether. Exit Jake. "If I lose her to you it will be over my dead body you pompous little nothing."
Kathleen tried to change the subject. Cass persisted. She told him she couldn't marry him because their lives weren't in order and she didn't know who she was anymore. She cried. He said he wouldn't stop asking her to marry him because he loved her. Tears are running down both faces. They kissed. She cried harder because she's not taking this in stride. He asked if he made it worse. Kathleen: no. You make it better. Kissing. Besides, I like turning you down, I always have. Cass: you jerk. Laughing. Pause. Marry me? Kathleen: Nope. Cass: just checking. You know what I did hate about jail? Kathleen: no cable TV? Cass: they don't have contour sheets. I HATE it when they use regular sheets as the bottom sheet. Kathleen: so did you call your chambermaid? Cass: and then all of a sudden you wake up in the middle of the night and you're all tangled up...
Paul dropped in on Edouard for moral support. Edouard was not thrilled. He stopped out saying he'd do it his own way. Paul: well. If you can't take the heat pal get out of the jacuzzi. Enter Felicia. Felicia: HELLO. Well I'm sorry I didn't know that Edouard had an appointment. Paul: hey, I'm not an appointment, I'm FAMILY. How are you doing, Miss Gallant? Felicia: I'm fine thank you. I came by to see how Edouard was doing. Paul: yeah... you know I wouldn't mind if you and I had a little chat entre nous. Felicia: WHY, is there something wrong? Paul: well I'm going to level with you. I'm a little worried about the man. Felicia: EDOUARD. We call him Edouard. Paul: right. You know we were in here, we were batting out ideas about the screen test, and then he just ran out of here like a shot. I think the pressure is getting to him. Felicia: OR SOMETHING [pointedly]. Paul: RIGHT. Well I'd feel a lot better about this if maybe you could lend a hand, you know, subtly. Felicia: I know, SUBTLETY is so important to you. Paul: right. I thought we'd understand each other. You know what they say about actors are children. Felicia: well, yeah. And agents are always agents. Paul: right. Well I've got to go. Felicia: lovely. Paul: look, see what you can do. Exit Paul. Felicia: EDOUARD. HE'S GONE. Enter Edouard. Edouard: I was in the other room trying to tell myself that he's funny. That I should just laugh. Felicia: Edouard you never think anything is funny. In fact that crease on your forehead is going to be there until this movie is in the can. Edouard: Oh no. I have a very good suspicion that I am not going to be in this movie. Felicia: no no you're going to be fine. But the agent and the hangers-on and the money people all drive you crazy to the point that you think you're a failure, always. Edouard: but I remember when this used to be fun. Felicia: NO, this was never FUN, you grumbled your way through every movie, people like Paul ALWAYS drove you crazy. Edouard: I MEAN HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH A GUY WHO WINKS? Felicia: well you could hit him with a 2 x 4 but I don't think he'd notice. They're kind of like sharks, they have no nervous system. Edouard: well they certainly know how to deal with mine. Felicia: oh, I know that. How many times have I told you, don't pay any attention to them. Edouard: I mean acting is NOT EASY for me, I don't understand why they don't just leave me alone while I'm trying to work. Felicia: that's because you want them to be intelligent and rational. You might as well ask them not to wink at you. He calmed down. She offered herself as a friendly listener for his ideas about the part.
Tom was thrilled to hear about Arizona. She was concerned about the sex life and made certain she was using birth control because unplanned children are unfun much as she loves her baby. Nancy said she had an appointment with the doctor soon.
Terry arrived at the Northwoods Inn and saw the jar on the shelf in the coat check. He claimed it was his and he'd lost the ticket. Trudy said she had to ask Grant. Carter and Chris arrived and she asked Carter to get his father.
Jake and Marley are in his room. Marley: how about this, "bright studio near transportation $310 a month"? Jake: Marley, a studio is, like, one ROOM. Marley: I know but it's $300, we can afford that. Jake: Marley, you would sleep in the same room as your STOVE. Marley: yes, I suppose you would. Jake: I don't think you'd be happy seeing a stove when you're sleeping. Marley: well but then on the other hand the bed would always be terribly handy. Jake: Marley Love, I'm — Marley: did I SHOCK you? Jake: no, not at all. Marley: yes I did. And do you know why, Mr. McKinnon? Jake: why, Miss Love? Marley: because YOU are a PRUDE. Jake: I am a prude? Marley: yes, you are. You know we're going to get married and you're going to get me this big beautiful apartment and then we'll just end up being these little married people [he's having a hard time not laughing]. And pretty soon you're going to buy a station wagon and we're going to end up talking about property taxes and you're going to get two JOBS — Jake: that sounds good to me, I like that idea. Marley: but you are overlooking the Ultimate Bond of our relationship. Jake: and what may I ask is the Ultimate Bond of our relationship? Marley: I'm only marrying you for your body. Jake: what about my wit, and my personality, and all the other good asp— Marley: Oh well all of those things are very very nice too. He lay on his back and she kissed him. The phone rang. She reached for it and knocked him off the bed. He said she was crazy. It was Donna wanting to talk to him. She invited them to dinner tomorrow night. Informal. She wants to mend their fences.
Donna "if we're going to fight a war Mr. McKinnon we're going to fight it on my turf."
Cass is determined to get rid of the charges against him because they upset Kathleen so. He needs Wally's help to prove Daphne didn't write on the mirror.
Carter is lucky to have such a father. Trudy explained the situation to Grant. She took her break. Grant managed to get the jar open, started choking, closed it, and putting it down went to his office. Nancy saw it, expressed surprise, and walked off with it [it WAS hers for Mac in the first place]. "merry Christmas, Mac."
Edouard dropped Felicia at the Northwoods Inn. He left when Zane arrived. Zane and Felicia made-up the fight... sort of. A short ceasefire. Kissing.
Edouard called Paul for more time before the screen test.
Grant in his office choked, fell down, was found by Cass, who bellowed for Chris and called an ambulance, was looked to by Chris, and seen by Carter. Tom screamed. Carter had to be physically restrained.
