ANOTHER WORLD DAILY SYNOPSIS.

September 3, 1986

Michael sent a message for Jake and Marley to stay. Marley likes staying with him.

Donna fussed when she heard Jake and Marley had reconciled. Michael kissed her. He gave her a flower. He told her he was going to tell the press all about the Carrot at the party.

Mrs Nixon said she thought Mary had been murdered. Kathleen swore vengeance. Cass appeared.

Donna got upset. Michael tried to soothe her. Peter appeared and advised her not to go against Daddy. He wandered out. Michael told Donna he wouldn't talk about Daddy without her permission. She granted it. Bridget appeared them said the Corys couldn't come. Donna: OH, that's a pity. Michael: try to bear up, honey. Donna went off with Bridget.

Jake and Marley have peanut butter and canned food. He's looking after her. He wants to win Donna's approval. She said he was all she wanted. He told her he'd wanted everything to be set, money in the bank and so on. She told him he wanted too much. LIFE ISN'T THAT NEAT.

Kathleen wants to find out about Mary without hurting Vince. She and Cass are extremely wealthy. Cheryl cruised past. Cass: how about riding over with us to Donna Love's big bash? Cheryl: are you kidding? Kathleen: what's wrong with that? Cheryl: oh, it would be so uncool, Kathleen. Cass: Didn't anybody ever tell her that going to a party with Cass Winthrop is never uncool? Cheryl told them she'd get a ride. She ran into Scott and asked him to take her to the party. He was against it until he heard it was a Love party. Cheryl was pleased when he agreed to escort her.

Felicia barged in on Donna and Michael. She was covered in confusion. Michael beat a hasty retreat. Felicia offered Donna help. Donna told her she was terribly sorry about Zane and she was glad she was coming. Felicia: is your father going to be there? Donna: no. I don't want to have anything to do with him. Felicia: Donna, I'm sorry. It was rude of me to bring up your father. I mean that. I am sorry, all right? I'll see you later. Donna: Felicia? How are you at coming up fresh pineapple? Felicia: brilliant, actually. Donna asked her to help. Felicia was more than willing.

PARTY. Greg told Nancy he liked Donna. (No one has ever done that without qualifying it. It shows Donna has mellowed.) He told her he wanted to talk seriously. She asked him to wait.

Jake produced a lot of flowers and wine and Marley plotted dinner. ("The guy at the liquor store said he'd never sold wine to a bush before. I probably should have gone to the liquor store before I went to the florist.") Jake produced a lot of candles and admitted he wanted life to be too neat and all he wanted was to be with her.

Scott cashed a cheque at Mary's Place and had to produce ID. Cass hovered over him to make sure his intentions regarding Cheryl were honourable. Scott was affronted. Cass inspected his driver's license and made much of the name LaSalle. (He raved about Robert Cavelier LaSalle for no particular reason and did not mention the Carrot.) Scott was uncomfortable. He said it was just a name and there was nothing between him and Cheryl. She's too young. Cass was satisfied.

Jake and Marley had dinner. The man who looks blank at any mention of the bard's works said he'd cruised through the library to try to find something swell to say but couldn't find anything good enough. He made a very pretty speech of his own about Love. She was pleased and declared it perfectly elegant.

Adam cozied up to MJ at the party. Scott was pleased to meet Donna. Michael began his anti-Carrot press conference. He announced the engagement and the trip to Hawaii. He said they weren't running away from Reginald, but they wanted to apologise for his dreadful behaviour and formally dissociate their family from him.

Peter brooded at home about his father. "When I was in third grade I wrote an essay about my dad and why he was the greatest. I got an A minus on it, so I brought it home to show the old man. Do you know what he did? He read it after I went to bed and he left it in my room with all of the spelling and punctuation corrected. And he never said a word about it again . . . nothing I ever did was enough . . . I never stopped trying. And the ironic thing is here I am grown up and I'm too much. I'm a bit too tall. I'm a bit too well-schooled, too mannered, too flamboyant(?). A bit too dramatic, too given to posing and posturing. And drinking." Bridget fled. "I have always wondered what I would have been like if my father had loved me."

MJ sang. Cass stalked Cheryl.

Jake and Marley get along quite well. (No, BETTER than that.)

Greg got serious. He gave Nancy a ring. She refused to accept it on the grounds that rings Mean Something. She said she Didn't Know yet. She's Not Ready. He said he'd wait. Donna was induced to eat a hot dog. Michael rejoiced to see her being such a good sport. Scott showed Cheryl how to play the guitar in the best golf-pro style. Adam asked MJ out. She refused because she's planning Kathleen's wedding and helping Cheryl go to school. He asked about her wedding. She said she wasn't planning on getting married to anyone ever. Donna said she hoped Marley was as happy as she was.

Jake and Marley covered all the available space with burning candles, declared their undying love for each other, and sank to the floor.
