Mary chopped carrots. [huzzah huzzah.] She got upset with Vince because he doesn't understand what it's like to have no memory.
Adam did paperwork. MJ poured coffee and told him she'd interviewed everyone who lived in the Love Tower, but to no avail. Quoth she, "I heard you were rounding up all the usual suspects." She was surprised he was letting Dr Glaser help.
Quinn and Thomasina returned home. Quinn is still uncertain about the underwear.
The killer watched a video tape of Quinn's ravings. He piled up letter blocks and knocked them over.
Tubby: you seemed quite unnerved when I started to turn on the music. Felicia: no, no. Why would I be unnerved? Tubby: that's what I was hoping you'd tell me. Felicia: I can't dance. Don't ask me. Tubby: I don't believe it. Felicia: BELIEVE it. Tubby: but the couples in your books are always dancing and you portray it so romantically. Felicia: I know. I watch a lot of Fred Astaire movies. Tubby: but you can't dance. Felicia: not a lick. Not one little lick. [She should have said she couldn't dance a note, like Rusty Parker's mother.] She made him promise not to tell. He clasped her hand and cornered her. Felicia: I would love to see the harbour. Wouldn't a nice lovely stroll around the deck be nice? Tubby: it may rain. Felicia: what's a little rain among friends? Tubby: it would be inhospitable of me to let someone like you be rained on. He went to the closet for a slicker. She panicked but Mitch was all right. Mitch found a piece of paper in the pocket of a shirt. He looked at it and said "hotshot."
Michael found a list of aliases, one of which he recognized. Jerry Haupt was a Hudson childhood friend. Gotta be John. Donna said she knew everything would be all right.
Tubby flung aside the slicker and all self restraint. Tubby: I can no longer control my passion for you. Felicia: TRY HARD. Tubby: I am in agony. He attacked her neck. She screamed a wonderful scream. Mitch came out and pried him off, dumping him unconscious on the couch. Felicia was pleased. They heard someone coming.
Mary gazed at her portrait and wept. She told Vince she couldn't go back to being Mary McKinnon. Like it or not, Paraguay changed her. She said she needed breathing room. She said she'd enrolled in a social psychology degree program. Jamie, having just come in with Lisa, overheard and approved. Vince scowled. Mary went to take their order. Lisa: there's something I want to tell you. I wanted to wait until we were alone. Jamie: oo, this is getting better all the time. Lisa: it's about Adam. Jamie: Adam? How did he get in this conversation? She said she thought maybe she could help the police.
Dr Glaser arrived at the police station. Adam threw MJ out quite lovingly and brought Tony in. Adam explained about the psychological profile. Tony said Christine hated him because he'd rejected her. He decided he didn't want to be interviewed. Adam said it would look bad. Tony told him he was welcome to file charges and left. Adam figured it was pretty guilty behaviour. He sent for Chad. Chad was in a cooperative mood today. Friendly to Dr Glaser, even. Dr Glaser suggested they begin by talking about his father. Chad said he'd never known him. He said he didn't think his mother had known either, she was a hooker. Dr Glaser: how did that make you feel? Chad: some kids' moms baked cookies, some kids' moms turned tricks. I didn't feel one way or the other about it. She was my mother. Dr Glaser didn't buy it. Chad admitted that he would have preferred her to work in a department store, except she wouldn't have made as much money. He assured him fervently he liked women. He looked at Adam when he said he liked certain women a whole lot.
Vince ate a carrot. MJ came into the kitchen and heard Vince mocking Mary's attempts to get her degree. Mary was upset. MJ smacked Vince in reproof. Mary stomped out. MJ gave Vince what for for being such a jerk. Not good tactics to bug Mary.
Two men and the woman dashed in. Tubby came to and told Felicia he wouldn't be reading any more of her novels. Felicia claimed she didn't know Mitch. Tubby told the woman to tell their friend to leave and pulled a knife out.
Lisa and Jamie took Mary's side against Vince. Mary told MJ she wanted to be a psychiatric social worker. Vince made a crack about wanting to get her on a couch. No one appreciated it. Exit Mary. MJ scolded Vince. He asked about wedding plans. MJ said Adam was too busy thinking about the case. Vince said all he had to do with shave and show up, and the bride's parents should be looking after this stuff anyway. Marry emerged from the kitchen to talk about dresses. Vince suggested wearing Mary's dress. Mary and MJ agreed it would be nice. MJ said she loved them both and left. Mary beamed. Jamie prefers subtitles to dubbing. [One more point in his favour.] Lisa came over all queer. She's been having a funny sensation all day. Feelings about an unknown woman. Strong, with beautiful clothes. She's happy.
Quinn chatted with Thomasina. Zack phoned to say his car was not working. Quinn agreed to pick him up at the police station. She left Tom alone. Tom approves.
Chad said he had to like women as part of his job. Dr Glaser asked if he'd ever been in love. Adam looked at him closely. Chad said he had a long time ago but she hadn't loved him back. They let him go. Dr Glaser thought it significant that he had put it that way. Adam was interested. He sent for Greg. Greg admitted his mother was not a nurturing woman and he'd had a tremendous succession of daddies and uncles. Promiscuous is a gross understatement. Then there's bad Sam. She's living in California and she's going to get herself in trouble. But, he said, they would never pin this on him.
Michael said he couldn't understand why John hadn't contacted his family. Donna suggested he might not have known him as well as he'd thought. They hid in the closet when the woman came in. [Michael's a fine one to talk. His family had no clue about his whereabouts for the longest time. Brother had a son old enough to be the father of six-year-olds. He was really dead, too, that nephew.] She packed a lot of things in the marine trunk and left a cane just like the one in the photograph lying around.
Dr Glaser talked to Peter about his suicided mother and Donna's charges against him. Adam brought up Brittany. Peggy barged in. Dr Glaser asked if he hated women. Peggy told him he had to be joking and led Peter out.
Felicia doubled up pretending to be in pain and bodychecked Tubby. Mitch hit one of the other men and Felicia hit the last one with a vase. Tubby fled. Mitch kissed Felicia full on the mouth and told her she was all right. They decided to get out while the getting was good.
Adam told Dr Glaser he was wrong to have been sceptical about him. [Oh, Adam.] he welcomed him aboard. [He's being too unsuspecting of our first runner up. Oh, ADAM.] Exit Dr Glaser. Enter Zack. He gave Adam something, a writ, and trembled off to see the commissioner, having said he didn't want to be tied up because he was meeting Quinn's daughter. Adam grinned in a rather endearing fashion. Of course it was because he was happy for Zack, but it was sweet nonetheless. Phone. Adam: Cory. Jamie: what do you mean holding all your calls? I've been trying to get through to you for half an hour. Adam: who is this? Jamie: this is your cousin. Jamie. He told him about Lisa and strongly advised him to run right over. Adam grabbed his jacket and ran.
Chad left the police station alone. Greg and Tony left at about the same time and Greg told Tony he was number one in HIS book. They moved along. Peter and Peggy came out into the parking garage. He thanked her for her help and admitted that he had been looking for an excuse to shoot Brittany the day she shot him. Quinn waiting in her car overheard, natch. They didn't see. Peggy told Peter not to say that. Peter kissed her. She went to her own car. He caught sight of Quinn. She looked away. He moved on. Quinn whipped out her appointment diary and wrote: "Peter Love he entered the stable hoping Brittany would give him an excuse to shoot her."
The woman and one of the men took the trunk and the cane out. Michael and Donna heard them say the American and the woman had knocked him about. They emerged from hiding and left the room.
Adam ran into Mary's Place. Mr. Barton, Josie's husband, told him to catch the killer. Adam felt awful. Lisa told him it was nothing until she clutched her throat as she had with Crystal.
Quinn was attacked.
Mitch showed Michael the note he had found. "Hotshot 3 PM." The bad guys went to another boat. Michael looked at it through binoculars and found it was called the Princess Clara. Felicia thought that was odd. Donna said that Clara was Michael's mother's name. Michael said that his brother was the only person in the world who would call a boat that. [Don't ask me why.] Donna felt his face.
