Nav Canada |
Ottawa |
|

|
CS-03 Programmer/Analyst (VB.Net, SQL server, T-SQL) |
|
||||||||||
|
Developed custom
data parsers (ETL), which extracted, validated, transformed, and loaded
(airplane flight) data in SQL Server 2005 databases and plain text file
sources. Extended the functionality of existing parsers by retrieving Visual
Source safe code, analyzing it, communicating comments and suggestions to the
manager, and writing new code. Used VB.Net (used
.Net Form and data access), C#.Net (created a multi-threaded object-oriented
Windows service; used sockets/ports), Windows services, Remedy, SSIS, VB6,
Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, and SQL Server 2005 (Created tables and constraints; wrote T-SQL stored
procedures). Drew diagrams in Visio. Very strict adherence to SDLC (system
development life cycle) methodology and documentation. |

Designed and
developed a new bilingual ASP.Net data-centric web application with extensive
use of new .Net Framework version 2.0 classes and web & data controls.
Coded in VB.Net. Functionality was to track candidate selection processes for
numerous department committees; included contact, candidate, and department
records management; document upload/storage and retrieval, reports, data
entry validation, database integrity (constraints and relationships),
codifying business rules, and reports (on-screen/HTML and MIME export).
Developed UI (user interface) in Visual Studio and a relational database in
SQL Server Enterprise 2005 Manager (databases diagram and modifications) and
Query Analyzer (T-SQL procedures). Communicated directly with client to
define and clarify requirements. |

Implemented a
distributed client-server application written in programming language VB.NET
using the VB.NET framework. Data downloads to client application to enable:
POS (point of sale) invoices, sales receipts, truck inventory tracking,
purchase orders stored in RDMS SQL server database. Client re-synchronization
with central Microsoft Great Plains (SQL Server) database using XML data
transfers, SQL Server stored procedures (Transact-SQL / T-SQL), and a middle
tier Web Service and Microsoft eConnect (Great Plains SQL Server database ETL
interface). Performed Change Request development and System design analysis.
Implemented technical specifications, Automatic client (executable) update
using Microsoft Application Blocks. Created system test and user acceptance
plans and performed unit testing; used VPN and Dameware. Involved in system
development life cycle (SDLC). Used VSS (Visual Source Safe) version control.
Member of a development team. Used Click Once deployment and created
Installer packages (using Microsoft building blocks). |

1) Lead person
responsible for integrating ETL data imports and data conversions (CSV, EDI
messaging, SQL data file formats) centered on a mission-critical sales and
fulfillment system (“Securkey”, “SecurWarehouse”). Provided guidance to the
Systems Manager and Help Desk staff. Investigated and fixed system problems,
both internal and external/client-side. Communicated database and application
architecture to Cognos BI developers. 2) Designed and
programmed a VB.Net application for Oracle database to manage the
distribution process of printed goods. The program included creating VB
Windows Forms and Crystal Report v9 (invoices, shipping pack slips, etc.),
linking the data with the courier’s (UPS) shipping software, Oracle RDMS
database PL/SQL stored procedures coding and testing. Merged a Lotus Notes
database into an Oracle RDMS database; designed, tested, and coordinated the
process; advised, trained, and collaborated with the non-technical Customer
Relations Manager. Provided end-user support. Implemented new features;
performed Change Request analysis and development. Used Toad and SQL to
export Oracle data into Excel spreadsheet reports, and do special database
updates. Supported the system (VB client GUI and oracle database) in test and
production environments. 3) Created a Windows
ASP.Net web application (hosted on IIS web server) with COM middle tier
object (Active X DLL) to interface to a legacy DOS application’s database
hosted on a Novell file server. Used ADO and SQL for database logging,
managing user accounts, and application configuration. 4) Programmed Excel
spreadsheet macros (VBScript): |
