This comic send-up of James Bond films features Flint, a secret agent who, like Bond, uses wacky contraptions to get himself out of sticky situations; and like Bond, he's also habitually surrounded by beauteous babes. "Our man Flint" is played by James Coburn and was released in 1966. A follow-up movie called "In Like Flint" was released in 1967. Click on the image for a movie review.

This has and always will be my favorite sci-fi movie. 2001: A Space Odyssey had the right balance between "special effects" and a well written script with a deep message that made you think after leaving the theatre as to which direction man should take regarding space travel. Forbidden Planet...a 1950's sci-fi movie that was way ahead of its time. This film may have actually inspired Gene Roddenburry in creating his vision for the popular Star Trek television series which came out later in the '60s. The film certainly compares with the production techniques that resembles the famous Star Trek television series: special effects, excellent directing, and a brilliant screenplay. Forbidden Planet was not one of those B-rated films like the Attack of the Killer Tomatoes for example. Instead, Forbidden Planet is arguably the best sci-fi movie to have emerged out of the 1950's as the special effects still holds up against any other science fiction film that is released today!
