Creative Commons (cc)

The Creative Commons is part of an international effort to facilitate the availability of open-source licences. The iCommons Canada Project is the Canadian version. The Canadian Internet Policy and Public Interest Clinic (CIPPIC) has translated the popular Creative Commons (cc) licence for use under Canadian law so creators can attach a cc to their works. No lawyers required! The licence has been embraced by creators world-wide and can currently be found in use on millions of digital artworks including text, sound, computer graphics and websites through which they are promoted.

Copyright considerations

There's a lot of great stuff on the Internet. But just because something is free, it doesn't mean you are free to copy it. Copyright is implicit in Canada, where the creator has automatic protection of their creative works such as photos, art, writing, music, and web site designs.

Netizens should pay close attention to copyright notices and abide by the wishes of the kind people who have created and put that information online for you to use or enjoy.
