After cycling around England for a while, Richard and Frances took a ferry across the English Channel and arrived in Holland. Holland is supposed to be good for cycling, but the cobblestone bike paths broke the spokes on Frances' back wheel and she had to buy a new stronger one. Maybe it would have been better to take a boat along the canals.
