Friday, June 27, 2014 - Drive from Ottawa, ON to La Pocatiere, QC

Katja and I drove east after supper, intending to go as far as we could until we got tired. We drove on through Quebec past midnight and started to run low of fuel. We pulled off at the next service station and found it to be closed. We got back on the highway and drove for quite a while until we found another one. It was also closed. Now, somewhat worried we drove to a third place... also closed. Looking at how much fuel we had did not bring confidence in continuing any further. There was an empty field across the road from this last gas station so we pulled in, figuring we could sleep for a few hours until the station openned in the morning. Not two minutes later, the police arrived on site. The were very helpful though, and pointed us towards a 24 hour station only 15 km away. We thanked them and drove off, making it there on fumes. After filling the tank, we started looking for a place to stay. We ended up in La Pocatiere where we tried the motel where I had stayed at for a couple nights during my 2007 tour. No one answered the door though as it was now 02:00. We tried another with the same luck, but fortunately a third place was staffed and had a room. Crashed out pretty quickly as we were very tired at this point.

Saturday, June 28, 2014 - Drive to Cornwall, PEI - Cycle to Charlottetown - 33 km

Drove the rest of the way to PEI. Stopped in Fredricton for some yummy lunch from a German bakery and then continued to Cornwall, PEI and found our reserved BnB down a country lane. We unloaded and then road the bikes into Charlottetown for supper. Rode back in the black of night and a surprising amount of traffic for a country road at 22:00. Were pretty tired so we hit the sack.

Heritage Bed and Breadkfast.

Riding to Charlottetown.
